Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Funds put in place for $60 million Ohio City mixed-use project The West Side gateway between downtown Cleveland and Ohio City at West 25th Street and Detroit Avenue in Ohio City is on the cusp of a $60 million transformation. Real estate developer Peter Snavely Jr. said in a phone interview on Monday, Oct. 3, that he expects construction crews to start mobilizing on the site this week. He confirmed that financing for the project was closed Friday, Sept. 30, with 25 sources of financing, but he said the list of lenders was "too long to go into" by phone. He said he was traveling on business. However, Snavely said that for the project he has joined forces with Brown Gibbons Lang, the Cleveland investment banking firm with a substantial real estate practice, and Orlean Co., a Beachwood real estate developer. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20161003/NEWS/161009955/funds-put-in-place-for-60-million-ohio-city-mixed-use-project

Has anyone tried them? I keep meaning to, but with a Teresa's that's almost as good as the original around the corner from my daughter's place, it hasn't happened yet. I haven't made it there either, but have heard really good reviews.

Citizen Pie Inks Deal in Ohio City for Second Location Two months shy of its one-year anniversary, the popular Neapolitan-style pizza shop Citizen Pie (15710 Waterloo Rd., 216-417-2742) has announced that it is expanding. The team has inked a deal to open a second location, this one in the SoLo neighborhood of Ohio City, a block or so south of the West Side Market. The 1,700-square-foot brick building (2144 W. 25th St.) is twice the size of the original in Collinwood, which continues to exceed the expectations of both the owners and customers. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2016/09/20/citizen-pie-inks-deal-on-second-location-in-ohio-city

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Cleveland will more likely be in 380k range as the losses are certainly slowing. Estimates for 2015 predict that Cleveland lost 8k people since the last census in 2010, which would put the number around 388k today. What makes you think Cleveland will lose another 18k over the next three years?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Outlet developer pursues downtown Cleveland site, near Burke Lakefront Airport (photos) CLEVELAND, Ohio – An outlet-mall developer has its eye on lakefront land in downtown Cleveland, near Burke Lakefront Airport and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Horizon Group Properties, Inc., is floating plans for a 350,000-square-foot, multi-story retail center on a city-owned parking lot south and west of Burke. The Geis Cos. of Streetsboro has been marketing the 20-acre site for the past few years, as part of a broader public-private push to remake the downtown lakefront with new buildings, attractions and public spaces. Home to roughly 14,000 residents and close to 100,000 workers, downtown Cleveland is once again on retailers' radar after decades of shopping stagnation. Recent additions, from the Heinen's grocery store on East Ninth Street to local furniture and outdoor-goods purveyors, cater to the center city's growing residential population. Those stores aren't necessarily going to lure shoppers from the suburbs. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2016/07/outlet_developer_pursues_downt.html#incart_m-rpt-1

The Hottest City In The World Cleveland! – this is for you!!! But first a question. What in the hell is happening in that city? The Cavs blow up the world and win a title. And the Indians haven’t lost since. The hottest team in baseball, plays for the hottest city in the world. The Indians have won 9 in a row. They have the lowest era in the AL. They’re perched in first place above the world champion Royals. And yesterday in Detroit they finished their third straight sweep of the Tigers this season while nearly retiring Justin Verlander in the process. It’s getting weeeeeeeird in Cleveland. The Cavs came back from down 3-1 to beat a 73-win team. And the Indians just jumped a former league MVP for four home runs. In one inning. Cleveland rocks! http://jimrome.com/2016/06/27/the-hottest-city-in-the-world/

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Meanwhile, back to on the ground nuts & bolts transit stuff, there's still been no explanation as to why RTA was running 1-car trains on the Shaker lines, and mostly just 2-car trains on the Red Line during Parade Day. Simply hiding behind the extreme crowds excuse doesn't cut it especially since RTA was encouraging people to use transit beforehand. Here we go again...

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Even with Benesch and Stark Enterprises committed to close to 100,000 square feet already? Not sure what the total sf of these two groups would be or how much total sf they are trying to fill. Keep in mind, most firms are consolidating/reducing sf by about 30% when they make a move like this... more open work stations, fewer private offices, more huddle rooms... more technology, less file storage.... From what I've read, it looks like there's only 200k of total office space available at nuCLEus. Stark is going to lease 25k and Benesch has committed to around 70k.

Stark Enterprises explores auction of downtown Cleveland headquarters building (photos) CLEVELAND, Ohio – Stark Enterprises, a downtown developer with high-rise projects in the hopper, is trying to sell its more modest headquarters office building through an online auction. The Ten-X Commercial website is offering up the property, at 1350 W. Third St., with an undisclosed minimum dollar amount in mind. Bidding will start at $850,000 on July 11, and the auction is scheduled to end July 13. Stark doesn't have to sell - and won't, necessarily, if the price isn't right. But the company, with 60 downtown workers and twice that number in other locations, has outgrown its Warehouse District digs and has decided to test the market. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2016/06/stark_enterprises_explores_auc.html

Cleveland apartments rising at 'insane' rate • nuCLEus, a mixed-use tower now planned for 48 stories instead of 51, proposed by Stark Enterprises of Cleveland and J-Dek Investments of Solon, will begin by year-end and is forecast for completion by 2018. It includes 500 apartments and six floors of build-to-suit condos. Look for suites to hit the market in 2018. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20160515/NEWS/160519863/cleveland-apartments-rising-at-insane-rate

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Cleveland apartments rising at 'insane' rate Marcie Gilmore, the leasing consultant at Schofield Residences in downtown Cleveland, says April “was an insane month.” The 52-suite project, which shares the building at 2000 E. Ninth St. with a Kimpton Hotel, has just four apartments left to rent. That is far ahead of the plan at its March opening, which called for lease-up by June. “We are very pleased with the average rental rate as well, as we are making projections well over the $2 per square foot mark,” Gilmore said. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20160515/NEWS/160519863/cleveland-apartments-rising-at-insane-rate

Ran through yesterday and saw the signage...definitely stands out and I think it fits with that neighborhood...does it face the water too? I only saw it from Old River as that is where I ran. It looks like there is a window facing the street at Coastal Taco where you can possible order tacos to go and go eat them in the park or whatever. Nice add in my opionion. There is a small building next to Coastal Taco that is erected...is there something else going there? Might that be the Metroparks new water taxi stand?
