  1. According to Indeed.com; here are the # of open positions in the 3 C's: Cleveland - >53k Columbus - >42K Cincinatti - >43K We have a plethora of jobs in Cleveland and across the rest of the state, what we lack is people.
  2. What you state isn't reality and no one serious views us as a bottom-tier market. Our perception both globally and nationally is quite the opposite of what some like to portray. What really separates our region from others is the local negativity is much louder and more noticeable here. We have over 40K unfilled jobs in the metro. Our dominant problem is attracting skilled labor to the region, and also properly training those who are already here.
  3. What are you basing this opinion off of? Sherwin is the global leader in the coatings industry; Cliffs is well on it's way to becoming the largest producer/distributor of steel in the country. We have one of ten Federal Reserve Bank locations, and also punch above our belt in the legal/finance sector. And don't forget about:
  4. I suspect Cliffs’ leadership has learned from the prior mistakes the dinosaurs leading Progressive and Eaton have made and will follow the wise steps of Sherwin, Cross Country and countless others in moving or remaining downtown. Can’t see them leaving for the suburbs if they care about attracting the best and brightest from the regional and national talent pool.
  5. Eh, this might true if Hopkins was located in Mentor. SW Cleveland gets about as many winter storms as the SW Ohio does these days. Cleveland also recently moved into zone 6 for climate, which is the same as Cincinnati. Cleveland was in zone 5 until a couple of years ago.
  6. Regionalize or die needs to be the metro's motto. The issue isn't that the local economy is not growing, it is. Workers, especially blue collar, don't have the means to get themselves to where the jobs of today are located ---> https://neo-trans.blog/2023/05/23/greater-cleveland-poverty-amid-plenty/ Nothing will change until we reduce the number of fiefdoms in the metro, and significantly invest in new public transit routes. @cadmenhttps://www.crainscleveland.com/crains-forum-transportation/impact-suburban-sprawl-northeast-ohios-workforce Here's another excellent article that contains a lot of good data and studies about the workforce struggles in NEO. Let me know if you don't have a Crain's subscription and I will DM you my login info.
  7. They’re not passing us in any meaningful ways. Your posts are word salads with no substance. Columbus has lost more jobs than they’ve gained this year. Cleveland has gained more than 20k jobs this year. These are facts. The Columbus vs Cleveland GDP is essentially the same, despite Columbus having a larger metro population. When you factor GDP per capita, Cleveland is outpacing Columbus. My suggestion is stop listening to MSM headlines and start doing your own research.
  8. Columbus is down 2k jobs yoy, while Cleveland is up almost 20k. It’s a fallacy to say they’re expanding at a faster clip than we are. This is media driven nonsense. What happens to all those tech jobs once AI takes over? Gone.
  9. It has nothing to do with facing the truth since many of us don't have the slightest clue to what the truth really even is. We continue to believe and hang onto the words of below average journalists like Larkin, without digging for actual evidence or truth. Columbus, Pittsburgh, etc. are not doing any better or worse than Cleveland. Here are some truths: 1) Cleveland (metro) has been outpacing Columbus (metro) in terms of new jobs created for years now: latest stats for June & July, below. 2) The Columbus public school system is one of worst in the entire country: see state rankings here ---> https://www.cleveland.com/education/2023/09/see-2023-ohio-school-report-cards-for-every-district-in-ohio.html notice Cleveland schools beat Columbus in virtually every category 3) Columbus is seeing record breaking homicide #'s: https://www.10tv.com/article/news/crime/columbus-homicide-rate-higher-police-looking-for-answers/530-c628a4e8-cfb6-470e-944d-fac3643a5842 So forget about the Columbus comparisons and aspire for something better. The two biggest things holding our region back are the following Unwillingness to explore regionalism - Cleveland will not come close to reaching its full potential until we see full blown regionalism, such as a city/county merger. Too much of our citizen's expendable $$$ are sent to redundant and inefficient public entities. Ohio's lack of funding public transit. You want a stronger metro/city? Fight for regionalism and public transit funding
  10. Eh. So have I and they’re nowhere close to a Cavs playoff, not even in the same realm.
  11. It’ll get jumped again as the final height of the crane should be around 640’.
  12. Well, you know what they say, "Freedom" is just another word for having to find a parking spot!

White Republicans appeal to the emotion of fear over logic and critical thinking. It's the entire ethos of MAGA, which also blends in with the country club racists.
  14. And another retail shop https://www.yellowcakeshop.com is opening soon in the old Breit’s location (5218 Detroit).
  15. It's going to be a fried fish restaurant, according to Doug Katz.
  16. He's in the top 30 of richest people in the US with a net worth around ~24B. Side note, can you share whatever you're smoking?
  17. Lightened up, Francis. Disagreement doesn’t = hostility
  18. LOL. It's a 5min interview and there's only so much he's legally allowed to say in public. You know this. If Cliffs wants something, they usually get it, just ask AK Steel.
  19. Hence, the silliness of it all.
  20. Great, all of those factors favor the hometown. Cliff's isn't leaving downtown Cleveland and it's silly to speculate otherwise.
  21. History? Besides, I'm not the one speculating and making up stuff to fit a certain agenda. It's pretty obvious your stance on pro-life is the minority position, by a lot.
  22. Those ARE unreasonable and totally made up %'s to justify your regressive and unpopular opinions.
  23. Cleveland-Cliffs offered to acquire U.S. Steel for $35/share in cash and stock. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/u-s-steel-rejects-7-3-billion-bid-from-cleveland-cliffs-as-it-seeks-strategic-alternatives-67b5bb02
  24. 1000 x's false. That's exactly the type of rhetoric I expected, and heard, in Germany. I think your problem is you view life thru an extremely narrow lens of an old white guy who's never had to experience issues minorities live through everyday in this country.
  25. It’s all projections, always has been with them.
