  3. Cleveland requesting development proposals for city-owned parking lot A potential real estate development site in downtown Cleveland may get some action if the City of Cleveland has its way. The city-owned parking lot at Chester Avenue and East 13th Street near the Greyhound Bus Station is the subject of a request for proposals that the city’s Community Development Department posted on its website Monday, July 14. The city seeks a mixed-use development of the site with retail, residential or office uses and a parking garage that would hike dramatically the number of spaces available, according to the RFP. The current 1.2-acre site has 140 parking slips; the city wants a minimum of 250 spaces on the parcel. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140717/FREE/140719829/cleveland-requesting-development-proposals-for-city-owned-parking-lot?template=printart
  4. Volumes Up for Cleveland’s New Liner Service    Cleveland Europe Express shows major increase in volume, while established maritime and development finance revenues also up substantially The Port of Cleveland announced that its Cleveland-Europe Express, the dedicated monthly liner service that launched in April, had its best month to date in June. This start-up service doubled its revenues in June when compared to either April or May. “The Port of Cleveland is booming and we are very encouraged by the performance of the new Cleveland-Europe Express service, which is still in its infancy,” said William D. Friedman, president and CEO. “The large increase in volume in June bodes well for the remainder of the year as we continue to offer companies and shippers throughout the interior U.S. a faster, more cost-effective and greener shipping alternative to Europe and the world.” http://www.marinelink.com/news/clevelands-volumes373185.aspx
  5. Help take Downtown Cleveland to the next level. From Constantino’s Market to the 5th Street Arcades to Heinen’s, Downtown retail is coming back strong. As recently unveiled in Step Up Downtown, DCA’s vision and tactical plan, there is need for even more retail options to meet the demands of downtown’s rapidly growing population. This survey, an initiative of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance City Advocates Program, is a part of the next phase to Step Up Downtown to understand the market’s retail preferences. Downtown Cleveland Alliance has partnered with Passov Real Estate Group as well as their neighborhood based partners in the Gateway District and Warehouse District to find out which types of retailers you want to see come downtown. Be part of the conversation by participating in Cleveland's first retail survey to help bring new retail downtown. http://survey.constantcontact.com/survey/a07e9jik91xhxd9zgfh/a017nhxp38ea9/questions

More news on Lorain...This street is gaining some serious momentum! bloom & clover wax studio extends lorain ave's westward retail march Some might say that the opening of a waxing studio in the former home of the Speak in Tongues music club signals a seismic shift in the Ohio City neighborhood it calls home. To owner Danielle Fuller, it simply fills a need for those looking to get pretty. On Tuesday, July 8, Fuller opened the doors to Bloom & Clover Wax Studio at 4309 Lorain Avenue, the former home of the infamous rock club Speak in Tongues, which closed in 2001. It has remained vacant ever since. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/bloomandclover070814.aspx

Sheridan was one of the few that called Lebron going to Miami. Most analysts had him going to Chicago or NJ. Lets hope he's right again!

  16. Standard Building near Public Square will become apartments, after sale to Weston, Inc. (gallery) CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A downtown Cleveland building constructed by the nation's oldest labor union for country's first labor bank could become 287 apartments, under plans being considered by local developer Weston, Inc. Weston expects to buy the Standard Building, near Public Square, in a deal set to close today. The sale will be the first in the history of the 90-year old office building, which was built by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen and has housed the union's offices since 1989. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/06/standard_building_near_public.html#incart_river_default
  17. Is Weston Inc. preparing to acquire the Standard Building? Weston Inc., the Warrensville Heights-based real estate concern, may be preparing to add the largest building yet — the 21-story Standard Building — to its recent spate of downtown Cleveland acquisitions. Such a name would be appropriate for a company to own the structure, as it pairs the building’s name with its address on Ontario Street. A Weston play for the 1925-vintage building has been widely rumored for months among downtown Cleveland real estate insiders and developers, perhaps incorporating adjoining properties to accommodate the lack of parking on the block. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140627/FREE/140629796

  19. From the article: If the May Co. building snags a catalytic project award this year, then construction might start in January or February. And the apartments could open in spring 2016.
  20. Where did I ever imply I know all the details? I'm putting a bet a Columbus project gets first dibs, that's it. You wanna look anymore into my posts while you're at it? I'll take your bet. It's going to the May Co building.
  21. May Co. apartment plans could benefit from "catalytic project" change to Ohio tax-credit program CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A change to Ohio's tax-credit program for historic properties could be a boon for downtown Cleveland's May Co. building, where a team of local developers hopes to pull off a large apartment project. On June 16, Gov. John Kasich signed off on House Bill 483, midterm budget review legislation that included tweaks to the state's preservation tax-credit language. That bill opened the door for a mega-award, of up to $25 million in credits, for a single large project in every two-year state budgeting cycle. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/06/may_co_apartment_revamp_could.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
