  1. Because overcrowding wasn't the only driving force. Like many other innovations or cultural changes (private cars, TVs, microwave ovens, computers, etc..), moving to lower density places became increasing available to the less and less affluent. I get that. I'm just wondering why you still think sprawl is acceptable for a region that isn't growing population wise.
  2. ^The difference between sprawl of the early days vs. today is the region was still gaining population. Why should there be a need for sprawl when the population in NEO is stagnate or in decline? Your reasoning is flawed.
  3. Waverly only has 1 unit left. I knew these would sell quickly but WOW! I'm excited to hear where their next development might be. There's still some areas left on Bridge Ave that could use a Waverly type project...
  4. Clifton in Lakewood was completely resurfaced two or three years ago.
  5. Long-dormant flats water taxi could be revived by summer 2015, says metroparks ceo The Flats water taxi of the '80s and '90s that ferried riders from the east bank of the Cuyahoga River to the west bank could be reborn as soon as summer of 2015 -- and in its new incarnation, it will connect not only spots in the Flats but also places along the river and lakefront. Imagine biking or taking the RTA to the new Flats East project, having a beer by the boardwalk, then hopping a water taxi to Nautica or Rivergate Park – bike in tow -- and you're starting to see the full picture. Eventually, organizers say, you'll be able to take a boat from the Flats to Voinovich Park, enjoying the splendor of Lake Erie and a vista of downtown along the way. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/flatswatertaxi031314.aspx

  11. Fresh data suggest Northeast Ohio has been creating jobs, not losing them: editorial News accounts from last year and earlier this year purporting to show drastic job losses in Greater Cleveland had many people scratching their heads. The economy may not have been booming, but it certainly wasn't imploding, as front-page headlines in The Plain Dealer and on cleveland.com suggested. Yet, the employment estimates provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and cited in the paper and online showed large year-over-year decreases in total jobs for several months in a row. We were on a losing streak, so the story went. Only we weren't. It now appears the Cleveland metropolitan area actually was gaining jobs. http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2014/02/fresh_data_suggests_northeast.html#incart_river_default

  18. Phoenix Coffee to Open Ohio City Location This Summer The rumors are true, java lovers: Local coffee roasters Phoenix Coffee will open a cafe in Ohio City this summer in an as-of-yet unreleased location. Phoenix already has shops on Lee Road and Coventry in Cleveland Heights and on E. 9th St. downtown. The Ohio City shop will be its first franchise on the west side. Coffee director Chris Feran says Phoenix is aiming for "late summer" for an opening, likely sometime in August. He says they intend to create "a little bit of a different feel" there. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/02/18/phoenix-coffee-to-open-ohio-city-location-this-summer
  19. Keep swinging that truth axe, CDM!
  20. HAHAHAHAH The old tOSU is afraid to play UC bit...Now that's funny!
  21. How many beers deep is this guy? Sorry, I meant little guy.
  22. ^oooooooooooooo burn!
  23. ^I would say that too if I had your Cincinnati little man's complex.
  24. The funny thing is you are all in tOSU thread...which proves my point, little men. We aren't in the UC thread b/c no one cares.
  25. UC had nothing to do with this. A couple of 20 year old kids did this. And the "secondary" language is silly. UC is a major top 25 public research University. Why does it seem like everyone in CIN has little man's complex?
