  2. duck island poised for redevelopment with completion of draft neighborhood plan Duck Island, a pocket neighborhood between Ohio City and Tremont that has long been inexplicably walled off from the revitalization that surrounds it, might be poised to see a surge of development -- on its own terms -- if a new plan has anything to say about it. Tremont West Development Corporation, with support from Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, hired the KSU Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative to conduct a community planning charrette last month. A draft plan is now complete. It will be presented at a community meeting in Tremont this month, and once finalized approval will be sought from the Cleveland Planning Commission. http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/duckisland011714.aspx

^You're correct. Set the temp on what you want (goes for heating & cooling) and just let it be.
  4. Only 5 left as of today! I knew Waverly would be a hit, but I didn't think they would sell this quickly. At this rate phase III will be sold out before construction is completed.

  10. Ya she really likes Shoreby but you are right, it is too expensive. She wants to pay someone a smaller, reasonable fee to rent their home and bring her own vendors. She is a server at Lolita and is going to have friends do a pig roast for the reception.
  11. I have a good friend that is getting married in the summer of 2015. The bride wants to have the ceremony and possibly the reception at a mansion in Northeast Ohio, she is going for a sort of "Gatsby" theme. The problem is that she can't find anything for rent online. Does anyone have any suggestions where to look or know anyone that would be willing to rent their mansion or large home for a nominal fee? She would prefer a home on the lake, think Bratenhal, but it doesn't have to be, just somewhere in NE Ohio. The bride and groom will have 150 guests and will need the property to have an outdoor space to accommodate. They would rent outdoor restrooms and tent to keep everyone outside of the house, if that is what the property owner would require. Much appreciated for any help or suggestions you can provide, thank you!

  18. Think about how fast it would be growing if these things didn't happen - you would have the best urban neighborhood between New York and Chicago, easily. Some of these things will never completely go away. It is improving though. I have 2nd district crime stats to back that up. I think lack of a quality housing stock is a bigger issue as to why it's not growing as quickly as it could be. I have a friend that has been looking to buy a house in OC or DS. He's put in offers on four different houses and has been outbid on all of them. They (yes its a family!) gave up and are renting until more come on the market. The house I was lucky enough to buy had two other bids as well. I had to come in over asking price. The demand is here.
  19. It doesn't seem to be hurting Ohio city....talk to people trying to move here or local real estate agents. Even though its not ohio city, look how quickly waverly station has filled up. I've read plenty of articles about how the near west side needs an additional 1000 rental units. What do I know though, right?
  20. Isn't Ohio city growing in population thus making eroccs theory false?

  22. City of Lakewood says Madison avenue is next frontier for urban development The City of Lakewood has issued 44 certificates of occupancy on Madison Avenue this year, and nine businesses are participating in the city's storefront renovation program. Planning and Development Director Dru Siley says these numbers show how much business interest there is along this traditional yet funky strip, which is seeing a wave of redevelopment activity spurred in part by Detroit Avenue's success. http://freshwatercleveland.com/devnews/madisononthemove120513.aspx
  23. ^ I understand. It's a legit concern. I lived downtown for two years (not far from Hanna) just stay away from those places after midnight and you shouldn't have a problem. I never did.
