  1. wow, if they are able to get funding for the fww caps, that would be incredible. With all the other projects going on, getting around to those was not much more than an afterthought. With the construction of freedom way between main and walnut, what are the chances of them implementing the tracks for the streetcar now as they build the road? Would be completely wasteful to have to do it later, especially when it could be in the very near future.
  2. yeah a bit strange how when something good starts happening, they ignore it...
  3. Can you imagine the comments?
  4. how steep of a decline is it there? from the rendering it looks like the houses in the 2nd and 3rd row won't be able to see anything except the houses in front of them
  5. wow reading that dialogue on the beacon was frustrating. At least this is a passionate subject for many. It would be great if they could get the whole thing rolling before the votes are collected for it to be put on the ballot. Does anyone know what effect starting the project before the votes are collected would be? Also just a thought - how great would it be to have the streetcar running up madison and then also veering onto observatory towards alms park. The east side could benefit so greatly from multiple streetcar lanes. And to touch on the opponents beloved buses; I frequently run throughout the city and there is nothing more damaging and distracting than running by or being passed by a bus when it is at full exhaust trudging up one of our many hills, that alone makes me support the streetcar over their ridiculous, joke of an option buses or trolleys or whatever in the hell they want to call them
  6. Also, I think a Cinema de lux similar to that which just opened in Florence would be really cool in downtown whether they take Tower Place in that direction or some other under-used perfect location for say, anything (5th & race, cough cough)
  7. I think at one point the DT Macy's did have INC, could be mistaken tho. I agree that Tower Place needs to reinvent itself with more unique stores though, making it a destination mall. I'm in college right now and I know of several of my friends that will drive to Columbus just to go the the H&M there. Redeveloping in the mold of Water Tower Place in Chicago would be a good start. At the same time, we say that Tower Place needs stores like H&M, etc., but would the banks not also be a great spot for stores like these? Also, Tower Place definitely needs more advertising, I'm not sure even half of UC's population is aware of Tower Place's existence and it's a whole lot easier to get there from Clifton than it is to get to Kenwood
  8. dean, just a thought; when in public restrooms and given the option, do you dry your hands with paper towels or the electric blower? ahh, who am i kidding? I'm sure you're so eco-conscious you bring a towel with you everywhere you go to avoid these atrocious choices!
  9. This Haap guy just seems to be a hater in all senses. funny how opponents always seem to look at everything in such simplistic terms
  10. name recognition for the ignorants who like to associate negative stories with certain neighborhoods
  11. Isn't the art museum doing something like that with a big flower or something? Haven't heard of that, do you have any more information?
  12. a couple of cranes is where a project like this gets it start, they're not going to put up more than they can use. it was a lazy question bc it could have taken 13 seconds to find the answer to and got responded to in a smartass way that was funny. chill out, it's not blind optimism, its enthusiasm for what one may feel as the city making progressive, beneficial moves... it's the easy and popular thing to bash the city and the opposite to support it. get your own thoughts instead of being told them
  13. I visited San Francisco over the summer and went up Coit Tower. If you're not familiar with it; http://benjaminwey2000.wordpress.com/2008/03/11/coit-tower-in-san-francisco/ When I was there I couldn't help but think how cool it would be for Cincinnati to have something similar to this up on Mt. Adams that could be a tourist destination where you could go high up and overlook the entire region. It is something to be on an office building (Carew) and overlook the region, but when you can look down on the CBD, it's something entirely different altogether. One potential scenario I had was having an incline leading to the tower from parking in Broadway commons since Mt Adams is too dense for tourism parking. Any thoughts?
  14. It's probably going to happen. How long it will take and if it will live up to the promise are a couple I can't answer. Yeah. The concrete pilings, multiple cranes, and general construction equipment by the river are probably for the Banks. Not sure though. god i love sarcasm
  15. god i hope you're being sarcastic I'm going tonight as well. Could one of you fill the rest of us in?
  16. anyone else notice the sudden emergence of W Hotels advertisements on facebook and cincinnati.com? Purely speculation, but could this be a tool to introduce the brand to the market before it is announced and built?
  17. I was really pleased about the wide sidewalks. They are definitely a favorite in warm weather along Calhoun St at UPA so it will definitely benefit down there
  18. Do you know of the plan's for Noel's Plumbing? Hopefully a demo project so something more fitting of the area can be constructed

  20. I just walked by the site yesterday and if you are able, I would really recommend anyone to go see it. The size of the project is really a site to see
  21. http://www.bearcatsbook.com/ Looks to be a decent publication from the Enquirer for once
  22. yeah that had recruiting tool written all over it
  23. There seems to be a much less condescending tone with this article than similar ones written about certain places to the north, almost more informative rather than speculative, kind of how news is supposed to be written. strange....
  24. unfortunately the majority of people are lazy
