  1. Francona hinted in the postgame Kluber was hurt. Sounds like his back flared up again. Explains why they didn't pitch Kluber game 1.
  2. Peaked too early...
  3. Francona said Edwin is day-to-day.
  4. I think Chinatown on Spadina near Kensington Market is the largest.
  5. Here's a larger national issue...how do we replace those good paying jobs my grandfather found when he moved to Cleveland 70 years ago? He was able to raise a family, buy several houses and send my father to college with a only a 6th grade education. I understand the world has changed, but we have to find a way to bring prosperity to all demographics. I see it everyday as a criminal defense attorney. Too many of my clients are economically aimless. College isn't for everyone. There needs to be other options to make a decent living.
  6. 50+ municipalities in Cuyahoga is too much. I would love to see some mergers.
  7. Is there some kind of announcement today? Somebody upthread mentioned something coming out Tuesday.
  8. I can't believe it...
  9. 29k for a noon game.
  10. ^Still worth a try. Lol.
  11. 18k was disappointing last night, however, attendance hasn't been a problem this season. They'll get some big crowds this week.
  12. ^And like a few of us said up thread, fans have come out this season. Games 16 and 17 of the streak drew 30k.

^Venture over to Indians forum. We've been talking about it all morning. Attendance up almost 6k a night. Season tickets up 30% this season. The Indians averaged 19k last year, so it's been a big improvement. The Indians will probably hit 2 million this year.
  15. A couple 30k crowds this week and the Indians will probably pass Philly, Baltimore and Minnseota.
  16. ^The Indians will probably pass Minnesota in attendance in this week.

^^So kneeling for the National Anthem is poor behavior? The great thing about this country is that you have the right to kneel during the National Anthem. You don't have to agree with why they are kneeling, but to say it's disrespectful is missing the point.
  18. Again, you don't go from 19k for the last 3 years to 30k in one season.
  19. Almost 31k Friday and Saturday. I wish there were more people last night; however, attendance hasn't been a problem this year. You don't go from 19k to 30k in one season.
  20. Read somewhere over 90% of season ticket holders have already put deposits down for next season. Season tickets are up almost 30% this year. They will probably hit 2 million this year. They're getting support.
  21. ^That joke is getting real old.
  22. I can agree with that. However, the Q is a little different. It's not used only 10 times a year like Browns stadium. It's used almost every night of the year. The Cavs only use 50-60 times a year. Gilbert is a tenant and he if he wants to throw 70 million into the Q, it's in the city best interest to get the deal done. Like you said "it's a favorable" partnership for both sides.
  23. A few posters on UO isn't representative of how most people feel. I'm pretty sure city/county leaders weren't worried about the Cavs leaving while they were negotiatong this deal with Gilbert. I still don't get what your were getting at when you were talking about market size or how Clevelanders talk about being a big city.
  24. Edale, I'm not sure what you are getting at. Gilbert withdrew his offer, some more negotiation happened behind the scenes, the referendum was pulled, and now they have an agreement. NOBODY was worried about the Cavs were leaving. It wasn't an issue. From what I read, it's essentially the same deal that was proposed before Gilbert pulled out. The only urgency you see is that Cleveland is in the running for the 2019/2020 NBA All-Star game and the tight construction window.
  25. I think this deal is fair. St. Louis and Minneapolis just renovated their 20 year old arenas with similar deals.
