  1. i live in ohio city, it's a 35 min drive there.
  2. just went to bar symon yesterday for dinner. needless to say i won't be back. it's not (in my opinion) a destination restaurant. if you want michael symon food, go to lola or lolita (the latter for better prices). Then take a cab to buckeye beer engine to lakewood for a better beer selection at MUCH better prices.
  3. pnc is getting rid of only 1 building that i know possibly 2. they rent space in the areospace building by the airport, i know people are moving out of there but i dont know if they are shutting it down. Also they have a building where a lot of the technology staff (contractors) was in strongsville, i've heard from people who i work with that is is pretty much a ghost town there. those 2 i think on the chopping block from what i know. the w 150th will be kept because they house a lot of their data warehouse and support structure there, the becksville center will be kept. it currently houses collections and loan processing and their support staff. the highland hills building will be kept because they own it, it will be possibly be home to all the retail support staff, and of course they will be keeping downtown.
  4. the ohio city burrito is not yet open...just rode my bike up there an anticipation of getting one! oh well. here are a few pics of the space.
  5. A friend of mine told me of a rumor that the owner of Orale Contemporary Mexican Cuisine in the westside market will be opening up a burrito stand type place by Old Angle on W 25th. There are a few spaces around there that I think would be perfect.
  6. he's at momocho right now. the red camero is parked out front with a bunch of camera equipment.
  7. glad to hear you had a positive experience...i really really need to get there ASAP. what would you say the % of locals and imports was? i really try and stay away from most imports as they have to come over on a boat and you really dont get the freshest quality of beer that way.

i would agree, some of them say 'newly renovated!' which means some low quality upgrades and another coat of paint on top of everything. but there are some quality landlords that cater towards doctors and visiting staff to the universities. one that comes right off the top of my head is zipkin http://www.zipkinproperties.com/
  10. Pilsner Urquell Partners With Culinary Star and 2009 James Beard Foundation Award Winner, Chef Michael Symon Original pilsner beer elevates concept of food and beer pairing WASHINGTON, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Pilsner Urquell, the original golden beer is partnering with Celebrity Chef Michael Symon to showcase Pilsner Urquell's unmatched compatibility with food. The partnership is a natural pairing between one of the world's most cutting edge chefs and the world's original golden beer. A renowned chef and 2009 James Beard Foundation Award recipient, Michael Symon can be seen regularly on the Food Network's successful "Iron Chef America" program, of which he was a past winner. In addition, Chef Symon previously served as the host of the Food Network's "Dinner: Impossible" and "The Melting Pot", and has made numerous appearances on the network's "Sara's Secrets", "Ready, Set, Cook" and "Food Nation" shows. In his latest culinary endeavor with Pilsner Urquell, Chef Symon will highlight how matching food with appropriate beer is a great way to enhance the dining experience. While countless people in the past have reached for a bottle of wine to go with their meals, beer is gaining a rightful seat at the dinner table. More and more people are discovering that beer has an incredible range of complex flavors that complement both classic and modern fare better than wine can. You shop all the way down there when you're living by Columbia? Only for the beer selection :-D The Bowery Beer Room is the greatest place I've found in the city, I usually stop down there after work, but it was such a nice weekend I felt like going out a bit. Oh OK. I guess. Are you some kind of beer hater?? Or have you any suggestions for where I can find $30/bottle Belgians a bit closer? I don't know about closer, but New Beer on Chrystie between Delancy and Rivington has as a good if not a better selection and much much better prices. I went to both places when i was in the city a few months ago. http://www.new-beer.com/
  12. i just did a whois on barsymon.com and the website is active as of april 22. the whois information references a deluxburgers. http://www.deluxburger.com/ this might be a business partner/future menu
  13. Looks like i was completely off on where melts new location is. This is from the Big Cheese Club members email i got this morning: THE RUMORS ARE TRUE Melt Bar and Grilled is opening a second location in the beautiful city of Cleveland Heights. We have secured a great old building at the corner of Cedar and South Taylor. The new location will offer the same award winning food, beer and atmosphere that has made us a favorite on the westside. We are extremely happy to be joining such a great community of like minded people, restaurants, shops, boutiques and clubs. The new eastside location should be open by mid - late fall 2009. There will be plenty of job opportunities for qualified kitchen and service staff members. More information coming in the months ahead!! http://www.mail-dog.com/page.html?p=0000015Fu8vsGhk0/EUXfsZaTBV8I/1R0=&email=
  14. On the topic of Melt in Cleveland Heights: I was just driving by Cedar Fairmount and there was a double store front next to the Starbucks that just started renovation. I parked and took a look at the permit and it just mentions the construction company and that it is 'preparing for a future tenant' no mention of who. It looks like they are gutting the place. It seems to be about the right size, but there i dont think there is room for a patio in the back. My girlfriend lives right by there so hopefully i can track the progress to see if it might be it.
  15. this is from an email from the leasing staff: Thank you for your interest in Tremont Place Lofts. We will have one and two bedroom lofts available. The building is fabulous and has finishes in the apartments like no other in the Greater Cleveland area. Our one bedroom apartments start at $800 and two bedrooms start at $1200. We will have availability of apartments in Phase I beginning February 08. We will have controlled access parking for our residents; first come, first served. The parking will be ready in about 4 months. As a promotion, we will give one parking space to the residents free of charge for the first year. After which parking is $35.00 per month. Pet are allowed $200.00 non refundable fee, $25.00 per month. No Rottweiler’s, Dobermans, or Pit bulls. also i believe if you look at list of units, the lighter colored ones are the ones available now or soon (may june) the dark ones are still in development.
  16. my girlfriend and I are very interested in moving in here. we scheduled an appointment for march 7th to look at a few units that will be available may 15 (our hopeful move in day). I'll try and take some pics
  17. i work at national city. we haven't heard anything other then what the news said. i work in a rogue IT group in retail banking and we shut down shop at 11AM and went to the bar til 1 then shut down shop for the weekend. i've been checking my email from home and everything is super quiet. i did hear the senior management teleconference from this morning with peter raskind and he was on the verge of tears the entire time. either he's a really good actor or the most sincere CEO out there. either way i've been drinking for a long time and will hopefully know more on monday.
  18. great pictures! thanks for taking them! that that sign really does need to go. it should be replaced with some sort of retractable decrotive concrete pillar that is activated via rfid or infared to retract for authorized vehicles or could be dropped permanently for all traffic during certain times. I could only imagine the implementation costs though.
  19. I would also add the el rodeo local chain for what I call good "greasy spoon" mexican. order by number, comes out in 5 min. reminds me of the el vaquero chain in columbus
  20. momocho in OC is probably the best mexican you're going to get. on the pricey side though.
  21. thanks for the welcoming! this renovation could really tie 3 projects into something amazing for tourists. think of staying in a hotel which was built by world famous architect and renovated to include some of his design concepts and furniture, take a state of the art brt to a one of the top art museum in the country which also includes an addition by the same architect. packages could be made to include discount tickets for special exhibits etc.
  22. I been reading the forums for a few months now and have finally gotten up the nerve to register. I think I would be a much more interesting project if they would incorporate some of breuers furniture into the space or even any from the bauhaus school when he was head cabinet making. there are authorized remakes of the wassily chair that would look amazing in the correct setting in a hotel lobby. it may be cost prohibitive to include them in all rooms as they retail for $1600 a peice.
