  1. Wow. Maybe they are the worst team in football. Hard to find the silver lining today.
  2. I don't see how anyone can watch the game against Cincinnati in Cincinnati and think this team is worse than last year. Weeden will make people forget about Colt McCoy by this weekend. We have a home-run hitter in Richardson. We get a quarterback that has some zip on his ball and, lo and behold, MoMass all of a sudden looks like a WR. Their DL is getting consistent pressure on the QB without blitzing (8 sacks is 2nd in the league, 23rd last year). Sure the secondary is struggling, but you can't lose your 2 starting CBs, one a Pro Bowl talent for 4 weeks and one a solid, veteran starter and not expect a falloff. Something that people forget is that both Haden and Brown are great tacklers at the CB position and would have made one of those tackles against Hawkins on his scamper. The penalties are infuriating though, I'll give you that. And who cares about the national media and Vegas? Pretty sure Browns are 5-0-1 ATS the last 6 games, so Vegas doesn't know either.
  3. I was there and the crowd was amazing. Everything said in these articles is true. I really think that these intimate, close to the field venues are much more formidable than the non-soccer specific venues. It was especially exciting to see an entire, probably 99.5% of the crowd rooting for the USA. I went to the US/Honduras WC qualifier in 2009 in Chicago and the Honduran fans, hailing from a nation about 3% the size of the US, outnumbered US fans 2:1. You have to think the USSF will think about having more qualifiers at these niche markets over NY, Chicago, LA, etc. We'll see if the crowd at KC is the same next month. A collection of what was being said over Twitter about the fans last night: http://www.thecrew.com/blog/post/2012/09/11/usa-vs-jamaica-tweets
  4. ^ Colt excels when he is making plays happen while scrambling. Weeden just doesn't have that ability. Just need that OL to hold and I think Weeden will be fine. Though, was it just me, or was Weeden staring down receivers again last night? Gotta break that habit. I remember specifically he went for Little in triple coverage in the end zone and was broken up. He stared at Little the whole way and Benjamin was wide open on a post for a TD. Look right, throw middle.
  5. I always imagined Tiffany & Co.
  6. I would love to see a Hofbrauhaus there. Always a good time in Cincy and definitely a different type of bar than any that are currently downtown.
  7. ^ You'd have to think it's going to be sold. Key Bank Stadium? First Energy Stadium? Pilot/Flying J Stadium? Or the worst I can think of... PNC Stadium? Please God no.
  8. ^ Every city does it, so if one doesn't, they lose their team. Pretty simple.
  9. Wow. Big stuff this morning. He'd obviously have to sell his ownership in the Steelers. Hearing he is a big football fan in general. And if he owns a portion of the Steelers, of COURSE he has to say he's a Steelers fan. He was also a Cowboys and Colts fan in his past. If he becomes full owner of the Browns, you better believe he'll drop that allegiance immediately and become the biggest Browns fan you know. I don't mind it. I don't love the timing, the day before training camp opens, but what can you do. It will be pretty damn hard to do worse that Randy Lerner. 56-104 in 10 yrs. 1 playoff appearance.
  10. I expect the Browns to hold onto Colt throughout training camp until a starting QB goes down in camp or the preseason. Once there is a little added pressure (think Oakland and Carson Palmer) teams will be more willing to give up a draft pick/players. But I agree, no starter back for McCoy. I bet they could get a 5/6th rounder from a desparate team late in camp. Would also be fine with a player to add depth at LB/OL/DL.
  11. Wow. Just do a quick scroll through Twitter and read what Rangers fans are saying. They know it's a steal. I saw a guy listing off the top tier propects they DIDNT have to give up for Nash and he couldn't believe it. Gotta see it live...

Actually, Lebron did sign the max contract, with the Cavs, and was then traded to Miami for picks. Not sure about Bosh.
  13. I saw this today and couldn't help posting it. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/19603235/cleveland-browns I guess this is how much love the Browns are getting this year. I understand they've proven absolutely nothing with their track record and the amount of rookies on the team, but 1-15? You can't just have a bad offense and go 1-15. Your entire defense, ranked in the top of the league in Points and Yards per game, would completely regress. I'm not kidding myself to say the Browns go 10-6, but my swing is 8-8 to 4-12. I just can't fathom the chaos in Brownstown if they go 1-15.

^ Completely disagree. How often does an All-Star caliber player list Cleveland as one of their desired destinations? He's a Top 5 center without a doubt. After last year, I'd say Top 3. Teaming him with Kyrie and you have a team that should instantly be playoff caliber, especially in the East.
  15. ^ More excited in the prospect of FCE investing in Cleveland. Just rumors, but I like it.
  16. ^ Agree. He could step right in an be WR2. There are gonna be some large men running through the opposing secondary this year... Gordon, Little, Watson, Moore, Richardson. Big run after the catch potential. Great in WCO.

^ Most NBA ready "Guard" which would eliminate Carmelo. If you told me that at the end of the night the Cavs would have 2 player that are Top 10 on virtually every draft board, I'd call it a win. I find it hard to get upset about picking Waiters. It sounds like MJ and Charlotte wouldn't bite on their trade, so once MKG and Beal were off the board, I was already a bit deflated. If Grant and Byron had Waiters rated higher, go get him. Cavs had MKG and Waiters pegged for their pick. I can only imagine the pandemonium of the armchair GMs if they picked Waiters over MKG.
  18. ^ Yes, but that may have been a combination of things. People just wanting to check out the space, no room at the tables and (our reason for not gambling) no tables under $25.

If, somehow, the Cavs get the #10 pick, I think they'd be out of their minds to package it with the #4 to move to #2. This draft is too deep to throw a Top 10 draft pick away like it's nothing.
  20. in Cleveland. Not LA.

^ Right, I do think they'll grab a Euro guy with one of the 4. But this team was bringing guys from the D-League straight up to play meaningful minutes. Outside of the core, KI, AV, Gee and TT, the cabinets are bare. I'd have to think they will want a few more bodies so they don't have to keep going to the D League. Though Gee has been a nice surprise.

^ I'm definitely amped for the Lottery, but with so many picks, I think 4 in the Top 34 or something, this is a great chance to add a bunch of talent to the roster. This could be considered a wasted opportunity if they get one of their guys (Davis, MGK, Beal) and miss on their other 3 picks. The goal for next year has to be the playoffs. Anything less is underperforming/underdrafting. Especially in the East.
  23. ^ Correct.
