  1. But it's a chocolate bar first. It's called the chocolate bar. Isn't Greenhouse Tavern do a lot of vegetarian/vegan food?
  2. So long as it is actually phasing and not putting on the back burner to address whenever. That is a good point though, where is the land again the city owns? North of Browns Stadium? Obviously a great place to start.
  3. ^ Absolutely. This isn't negativity, and I'm sorry if it's been mistaken as such. This is excitement for the future and urgency for what needs to be done. The potential of this city and the lack of exploiting is tough to stomach each and every day.
  4. 5-7 years? You're speaking from experience, right? Zero experience, just understand that you must work with a sense of urgency in the private sector. You don't stay current, you get blown away and wonder what happened to your job. Wish there was some sort of urgency, which there seems to never be in the (Cleveland) public sector. The lakefront is the future, we've known it forever, and nothing has been changed in half a century with the port, burke lakefront, etc. Stop dragging your feet and get something done.
  5. How much can that lot be worth a year? Anyone know how many spots/price to park?
  6. ^ So why is this going to take 20-30 years? Why can't we light a fire and get something done in a timely fashion? If this were the private sector, this could be done in 5-7 years. Unbelievable how ineffecient the public sector can be, especially in Cleveland. I'm not a hater, always pro-Cleveland, but COME ON. DO IT!!! So I agree with Tim.

    DIESSSSSEL!!!
  8. Did anyone go to the tribute to Michael Schwartz at the Allen Theatre last night? My dad is an alum, and they went and were really impressed with the great things that are going on with CSU and Cleveland in general. All the speakers they said were great, especially FCE's Sam Miller, and that Schwartz had done so much for the university. My mom stated that the new Euclid Corrodor looks "beautiful." That made my night too.
  9. Staying optimistic... at least the city spent $40 mil on cleaning the asbestos and clearing the site? Less costs and quicker turnaround for a future buyer. Yeah, but this is pretty frustrating.

It still needs a team, or teams. Maybe a little league tournament? I think that'd be really cool. I know I played there in middle school, but a tournament to correspond with the opening/renovations would energize.
  11. That's been my fear since I heard about the proposal. Just was hoping that underwater tunnel idea would offset it's small scale.
  12. Newport Aquarium on the Kentucky side of Cincinnati is 100,000+. That was a nice aquarium, and I know plenty of people that made a destination of it. I just hope we're not settling with this concept. And please, please leave opportunity to expand, there's so much parking around there. Could you do shows at Nautica like at Sea World? Or what do you think they had in mind with that? I like the whole tie in.
  13. Miami's big out of state crowd is from Chicago. Ohio kids visit Chicago, fall in love with Chicago, move to Chicago. I'm happy to say I found a very good job in my field in Cleveland. But if there's no jobs to pay the bills, they aren't challenging and don't see much growth in the field, it's very tough to sell the city to a college grad. I do what I can, but they need jobs.
  14. Mangini better step up and just cut this guy. And from what we've learned about so far, I really don't think he'll put up with this. A problem reciever that disappears every Sunday is not what Mangini wants to inherit.
  15. No offense to any of the lil guys I forgot, just taking care of the big ones I know. Where is First Merit out of? I know we have some in Medina.
  16. It's a simple question with a pretty basic answer, but this didn't really come to me until checking out the Tremont Place Lofts and noticing they were financed through Key. Thinking back to ECON 101, I realized what better way to stimulate credit and financial spending in our areas than keep our money with our local institutions. They invest in our cities and every dollar you save is actually $10 worth of lending from the banks. Just want to think what everyone else thought about this. I'll be switching to Key, just holding out for an incentive I want to start it...
  17. Should that count as bike-induced sprawl? So much better than car-induced sprawl. I can only make it 10 miles in an hour.
  18. This bike parking could actually let me look at other sites (Tremont Lofts, OC) to live other than actually downtown. It would have been completely pointless to pay for parking, but a little to far to walk. I'm really excited to hear more about this one.

I'M NOT GIVING UP ON THE CAVS!!! THAT'S WHY THE SERIES IS PLAYED TO 4 AND NOT 3, LET'S GO!!!
  20. I've envisioned a BYOB Movie Theater is a space around there, it's not something you see everywhere. I've seen those around areas with similar feels (Old Town Alexandria). They'd have an instant fan in me at least.
  21. I'm not quite sure what everyone is fretting about with this Magic team. Granted, they shouldn't take the Magic lightly, but the Cavs haven't done that yet in trouncing two bad teams in the first two rounds. This Magic team lives and dies by the three which, last time I checked, the Cavs' D was best against in the league. (Cavs are actually a statistically better 3-point shooting team). And the Magic have NO idea who's supposed to get the ball in crunch time, while every fan from NY to LA knows who's getting the ball for the Cavs in crunch time. And if they looked like deer in the headlights for 6 games against a depleated, scrappy Boston team, how will they look about a true title competitor? Cavs in 5, maybe 6. Cavs/Lakers, now THAT will be a series. :-D
  22. Colleges make you pay upwards of $100 for application fees for both undergrad and grad schools. It sucks, but it's not because these colleges are "scammers". They just don't want to sift through pointless applications (pitches) of people that aren't serious about the institution.
  23. EXACTLY. Sounds a lot like paying $100+ for applications for various colleges.
  24. There's no indoor track at that brand new rec center at CSU? That's were I was planning on going when I move downtown. Edit: I just read there is a 1/7 mile indoor track there. That's were I would go when the weather gets bad. If it's nice, I'm looking forward to finding a route I like around downtown.
