Fremont / Sandusky County: Development and News
Another good article about the health benefits of removing the dam I just found. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1214641835125190.xml&coll=2

Fremont / Sandusky County: Development and News
They would apparently rebuild the school on the same site thankfully. edit: at least, I think I remember reading that somewhere. I can't trust my memory sometimes.

Fremont / Sandusky County: Development and News
The Ballville dam will be torn down, made way for a reservoir which will subsequently add 22 miles of spawning points for lake Erie white bass and walleye (probably getting rid of the masses of fisherman downtown for a few weeks a year :/), make the drinking water a bit cleaner (lots of nitrate problems when it overflows) and improve the water health of the river and therefore the Sandusky bay. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080702/NEWS17/807020427

Fremont / Sandusky County: Development and News
At first I was just going to make a thread about the middle school probably being torn down (the building was built in 1891 and I always liked how it looked) but since there's a few other news stories that may be of interest to some people, and a lack of news for this area, I guess I'll just make an all encompassing thread for random stuff. http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080626/NEWS17/806260399 There's an image of it in the NW Ohio gallery of this site. I guess some demolition can't be stopped when the foundation is slipping and it uses excessive energy.

Willard, Ohio
I agree with C-dawg, it's a completely different type of machine here than it is in Lorain. And the Migrant workers don't just stay out in the rural areas, they really have an affect on the in town businesses. I admit I shop at Goodwill, it seems to be their favorite store from what I've seen. Bars and restaurants too benefit a lot I bet. On topic though, I remember when I used to spend the night there when I was really little, I actually thought it was just a different area of Fremont to give you the vibe of the town.

Willard, Ohio
That's the truth, Fremont seems to boom with all the migrants in the summer, I practically have to wrestle a spot at the laundromat. Willard's an ok town, my aunt lived there for a while and it seemed pretty typical of the whole region.

Ohio: State Parks News & Info
That is a real shame, Crane Creek is a great park. Although last time I went the actual beach was overrun with dead zebra muscles and smelled terribly, I don't like swimming in the lake anyways so it didn't really bother me much in that sense. I really hope in the future they can expand the park system and get proper funding, there's a lot of potential I think. One thing that I think is a little sad is how few people even know these parks exist. Last night I went to Pickerel Creek which is a park in Sandusky County along Sandusky bay, it's similiar to Magee Marsh, and every single time I've ever gone I've never seen more than one other car. It's a prime fishing, bird watching and sight seeing spot.

Hello
I'd say yeah, it's a really small but it's fairly well off and has a lot of pretty areas, the White Star Park there is also really nice. Apparently their bakery and whatever pizza place they have there is really good. The city data profile offers some photos of it. http://www.city-data.com/city/Gibsonburg-Ohio.html

Hello
Well, I can definitely offer news (not much of interest happening in Fremont for oh, the past 25 years though) but sadly I have no camera which is a real shame as I take frequent visits downtown and to Speigal Grove and some other local areas with great picture taking opportunities. Thanks for the welcome.

Hello
Hi, I've been lurking this site for a while now. It looks like there's really only one NW Ohio resident on the board (at least he's definitely the most vocal one anyways) and it looks like this place could use someone a little more... neutral from the region. So greetings from Fremont/BG

"Upstate" Ohio?
I thought the idea was you have east and west coast, with north coast being from Minnesota to New York. Either way, it seems to be really common on radio and some tv promos and that's about it, in fact if you asked most people from the region, most would probably have no idea what you mean. It also seems less common in Toledo and seems like it picks up steam around Sandusky.
