I saw this in the Mt. Airy CUREator newsletter. Great news for the neighborhood. New Property Acquisition Opens the Door for Mt. Airy South Gateway Development After many years of collaboration, this past August Mt. Airy CURE, with the help of the City of Cincinnati and the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development, was able to acquire the Warsaw Wireless cell phone store at 5460 Colerain Ave. This property, at the strategic southeast corner of Colerain Ave. and North Bend Rd., completes a much larger parcel that includes eleven additional adjacent properties with four buildings to make a total area of nearly 2.5 acres. The buildings on these properties have long been vacant and have gradually deteriorated. Sadly, the urban blight at this corner has come to reflect negatively on the Mt. Airy neighborhood as a whole to anyone passing through this very busy intersection. We at CURE are currently working with authorities to have all five of these buildings demolished and expect this to happen in the near future. The next steps are to continue working with the Port and the Department of Economic Development on demolition and site cleanup. CURE expects this work to begin in the first half of 2025. After the site is cleared, we will be meeting with development partners to investigate future construction options. Our mission is to support the Mt Airy business district and we feel this project is representative of the what we learned following the community engagement process done while making the Mt. Between this and the Tri-County redevelopment, there's going to be a lot of new residents in Springdale.

And it would be hard to measure how much indirect spending would occur. I would imagine with all of the road closures and public safety needs that it could be a fiscal nightmare, but I don't know about such things.

Especially considering that NASCAR no longer races at Kentucky Speedway. I would watch a road race. Watching four hours of people driving around an oval... not so much.

Ha! I saw this on the news the other night. It looked like a huge tent where one would tailgate before a ballgame. Also, a nuclear submarine would never moor itself on the edge of a man-made suburban pond....

Interesting. This is very close to me. I've bought vegetables at that farm until the owners "aged out", and it's been overgrown and for sale for a while.

This might work for me. I have some people I haven't seen there in a while. Not confirmed. Should've done this during Comfest! 😄

I drove on Brighton Approach on the way to Somerset the other night. It's an easy way to get up to McMicken from Central Pw. There was a sign at the bottom that said that the road was closing something like May 20, 2024 and would be closed for something like 594 days. I'm sure that these numbers are wrong.

That's excellent. I can't believe how much the area has improved. I did read a few of the markers for the trail, too. Those turned out really nice.
