Great Childhood Television Shows
twnipper...I liked Julius Sumner Miller's physics lessons too. He was a cranky old bastard with armpit stains and unconventional teaching methods, but he was at least interesting. I can't believe you can't remeber the name Morgan Freeman, "the black guy from Shawshank"!

Akron: Downtown & Skyline
God, I hope! Ink...not to take this thread too far off topic, but I have really been concentrating on taking more construction photos for the blog and fewer street scenes. I was just talking to CDM about that the other day--how I need to find some time to fit in an afternoon of nothing but street scenes.

Cincinnati: Avondale: Burnet Avenue Redevlopment
Burnet Avenue plan to go before Urban Design Review Board Building Cincinnati, 10/4/07 The final development plan for Phase I of the Burnet Avenue project will be reviewed by the Urban Design Review Board (UDRB). On September 21, the City Planning Commission tabled consideration of the plan until the UDRB can study the following: * The relationship of future residential units on Harvey Avenue to the parking garage * The architectural treatment of the rear side of the parking garage, which faces those residential units * The relationship of the parking garage to the street and the walkability of the surrounding neighborhood For procedural reasons, the UDRB will not be able to meet until at least October 10, meaning that the soonest that this could come back before the City Planning Commission is October 12. The agenda for that date has not been released. The final development plan would then need to be approved by City Council. Phase I will include a six-story medical office building, a three-story mixed use building and a 1,450-space parking garage, with a future sub-phase of up to 56 condominiums. The project was dedicated in a City ceremony on September 24. http://www.building-cincinnati.com/2007/10/burnet-avenue-plan-to-go-before-urban.html

buildingcincinnati replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAustrian bakery, parking for South Block? Building Cincinnati, 10/3/07 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/grasscat/Northside/060123030nsidee.jpg[/img] 3930 Spring Grove Avenue in foreground An unnamed Austrian bakery from the Los Angeles area could be relocating to the South Block in Northside. The City is considering selling property it owns at 3930-3934 Spring Grove Avenue to TDG LLC for its appraised value of $100,000. The property would have to be used for commercial purposes, with residences possible on the upper floor. In 2006, the City purchased the properties from the Northside Business Association with the hopes of revitalizing the Spring Grove business district. An ordinance authorizing the sale has been sent to the City Planning Commission and to the Finance Committee for study. The City is also in discussions with the Northside Business Association about developing the neighboring vacant land at 3926-3928 Spring Grove Avenue into a public parking lot. Model Property Development is planning 5 affordable homes with three bedrooms, 1.5 baths and full basements. The homes will be affordable to 80% of the area residents, and the developer will work with the Home Ownership Center to assist homebuyers. No renderings are available. The development required a rezoning last November from manufacturing to residential multi-family. The land had been vacant since at least 1922, except for an apartment building and cinderblock garage that were demolished in 2001. ^ LOL...I love in the "Bubb Rubb" video where they demonstrate the whistling by weaving through the opposite lane of traffic, nearly hitting a car trying to enter the roadway, and blowing a stop sign.

Great Childhood Television Shows
I used to watch Woody Woodpecker and Casper the Friendly Ghost after school. I was surprised to actually find Tom & Jerry on the air the other day. I sat there and watched it even though I had a lot of work to do. That was some good stuff.

Random Cincinnati, past two months
^ I'm still out shooting, but it's mostly construction pics. Seminary Square is a Covington neighborhood with the approximate boundaries: * W: All of the buildings along Banklick Street, including the school * N: Everything south of the buildings on Pike Street * E: The railroad tracks * S: 12th Street http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=39.080107,-84.513177&spn=0.007962,0.014462&t=h&z=16&om=1 It was named after the Western Baptist Theological Institutute, which owned most of this property around 1840.
