  1. "The Corner" was actually a common nickname for Tiger Stadium, so I'm surprised it is even being proposed as an option, even with Hamilton's trademark intro.
  2. The MAC offices being in Cleveland was probably the biggest driver for the event being here in the first place, but it has consistently drawn well - both from the competing team's fan bases and the general public from the area. Barring their offices moving, major issues with the Q or a complete dive in attendance, I'm betting it won't be going anywhere for a long time.
  3. I don't think that's the finished exterior. The renderings have some sort of brickwork or textured cladding on them, and it looks like there's metal framing going up all over the building. I'm guessing they'll attach the final cladding to that.
  4. This meeting was announced at least a week ago in Litt's previous article... "In addition, the designs will be the focus of a free public meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the County Council chambers on the fourth floor of the county administration building, 2079 East Ninth St., Cleveland." http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2014/11/city_county_seek_public_respon.html
  5. There is. There's a pretty limited path where the bridge can cross the shoreway and still provide the needed clearance over the roadway without having to go UP from the Mall before coming back down again from an even higher point, which means a longer ramp downward. There's also a fairly significant minimum clearance needed over Erieside which just complicates things more.

Outstanding! Apparently I haven't been downtown at night in a while. I didn't realize how many buildings on E. 4th are lit up.
  7. Really? I thought they floated it down to near the rowing club, rehabbed it and returned it to the current site. Nope, it was actually being constructed next to Carter Road before the original span was removed. Not sure if there are photos anywhere. EDIT: Article on the original span being removed. By this point, construction of the new span was well underway. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2013/06/clevelands_columbus_road_bridg_1.html
  8. The towers at either end were rehabbed, but the bridge deck span is entirely new.
  9. So the bridge from the parking garage in center gets taken out completely? That will really open it up around Gate C.

Seconded. My wife and I have done the CMA/Little Italy trip several times.
  11. Vick just resigned with Philly a few days ago, so unless they decide to trade him for some strange reason you won't have to worry. At least for 2013. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8936209/michael-vick-signs-one-year-deal-philadelphia-eagles
  12. The Wyndham was able to add the cut-out, but they had a lot more sidewalk to work with. Even though they aren't far away, the sidewalk gets really tight in front of the CAC to accommodate the additional turn lane at E. 12th. Look at the streetview there: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=41.50045,-81.683612&spn=0.002366,0.004823&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=41.500468,-81.684517&panoid=6O2S3mCj5--0-pWH0TVIkg&cbp=12,233.03,,0,12.16 If they cut out the same space they have in front of the Wyndham they'd probably end up right in front of the building. I bet they'd have to do some kind of street realignment.
  13. I'll be interested to see how they handle the entrance and any vehicular drop off zone. That stretch of sidewalk in front is really tight as it is, plus the intersection with E. 12th complicates things. I wonder if they could reduce eastbound travel to one lane and modify the signal to be similar to they way E. 6th currently works, with eastbound getting its own exclusive green.
  14. ^ Thanks for posting. I've been searching for any kind of write-up. However, try removing the .modal from the end of the link. It lets you see larger renderings that way.
  15. The four finalists will present their proposals tonight and will be webcast live at 7pm... Great set! Nice looking back at the summer months while there's snow on the ground now.
  17. ^Likely the remainder of their parking lots and plant services buildings to the north along Payne and from E. 21st to the Innerbelt.
  18. It shouldn't be, since the Flats Tower is due to open in the spring. LoveCLE, are you referring to something else? What other modern office building will have that much space available this fall? Ah, I missed that. Everything else sounded like the Flats Tower to me.
  19. ^I'm assuming LoveCLE is referring to the Flats Tower, although there isn't going to be 425,000 sf available. E&Y and Tucker Ellis will occupy around half of the total 450,000 sf of space.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy ends up being involved somehow... The most important guy you've never heard of: Chaim Schochet, 25, builds downtown Cleveland empire http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/02/the_most_important_guy_youve_n.html
  21. ^ I was thinking the same thing. The former First Church of Christ Scientist in Little Italy (now Nottingham Spirk) is probably a good comparison for what this space could be. That was a $16 million renovation... http://www.nottinghamspirk.com/index.php/vertical-innovation/the-innovation-center/ http://www.ferchillgroup.com/ns.shtml
  22. Thanks for the compliments! For every decent photo I get there's about 10 that get scrapped. :-D ^ Not sure why, but there are at least opportunities to rectify the lack of activity from the buildings. I'm guessing the location of entrances at Public Hall had more to do with the layout of the interior, but there are some doors on the Mall so that may present an opportunity. The Board of Ed does have a pretty prominent entrance on the Mall, so if it gets renovated as a hotel or residential building it could make better use of it. It is disappointing that the library has basically no access facing the Mall.
  23. ^Nope, just your basic point-and-shoot with some stitching end editing help from Photoshop.
  24. View yesterday from the top of the hill, or "the lift" as they're calling it.
