Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
^ A few months ago I think. I was having lunch there when the one guy behind the counter was telling another customer that it was their last week.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
For question 1, are you referring to this: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=41.558299,-81.592492&spn=0.003321,0.004823&t=h&z=18&vpsrc=6 (I love the new 45 degree angle shots from Google, BTW). If so, I believe it is the entrance shaft for the Euclid Creek Storage Tunnel for NEORSD. Note the location of the far west drop shaft: http://www.neorsd.org/I_Library.php?a=download_file&LIBRARY_RECORD_ID=4599 EDIT: Beat me to it Musky.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
Meridian north of the canal is also like a mini Interstate. Wide road with small or no sidewalks and traffic typically moving 50 mph or faster. South of the canal, from around 56th to 40th, the road narrows and traffic is slower, so it's a better pedestrian environment. For the most part, though, they aren't kidding when they say you view the houses from your car.

No problem. More than happy to get out of the office for a bit on a day like today in January.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
I think that only applies to national anchors. It seems every local newscast now, including those in New York (where Mitchell also appeared locally) has a co-anchor. It think it's unusual that his predecessor appeared by herself. Understood, especially if WKYC wanted to get back to the two-person format anyway, which it seems apparent they did. I guess I thought Ramona going solo worked fine so I assumed that format would continue. Awesome hire anyway (and he's 51? He looks like he could pull off being 35, or maybe that's just me).

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
"Mitchell, 51, will have company at the Channel 3 anchor desk. Spectorsky and Channel 3's news director, Rita Andolsen, are narrowing the search for his 6 and 11 p.m. co-anchor." That's strange to me. Wouldn't you actually want someone with his stature and experience to do it by himself? Ramona was just fine on her own.

Night in Manhattan
Really cool set! Thanks for sharing.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
The top one appears to be the older layout. Note the building labeled 5b as the boutique hotel while 7b (where the aLoft hotel would be) is listed as residential. Also, 10 is listed as a corporate headquarters, which was the proposed Eaton HQ before they decided to move east. The bottom one, though, looks like an updated rendering because it has the aLoft hotel clearly visible in front of the E&Y tower.

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
It'd be nice if they could throw in a sign or two that said "This way to E. 4th Street/Progressive Field/Quicken Loans Arena/Warehouse District/Rock Hall/etc..."

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Yep, I'm aware. My statement was to only measure the height of the building and to the overall level of the structure, not how many floors of steel were erected. Thanks for your attention to this important matter. Gotcha, sorry about that. Didn't mean to be critical.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^From this rendering, the main pedestrian entrance to the office tower appears to be off of Main Avenue, where the plaza area is located (6). The parking entrance will be off of Front. The hotel and retail will be lined along W. 10th. Beyond that, any connections to W. 9th looks like it will be along sidewalks and existing streets, yes.
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^^ I don't think they can because the property along W. 9th is in use (two buildings and their parking lots). Parking lots may not be the best uses, but still: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=41.500956,-81.703069&spn=0.00235,0.004823&t=h&z=18&vpsrc=6 From the renderings, though, it looks like they are going to improve the connection from along Main Ave to W. 9th under the bridge. I think that plaza area is essentially going to be their front door. EDIT: Beat me to it, ClevelandOhio

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^I spoke with someone who is heavily involved in the design/construction just a few weeks ago and he said it was at 280' then. I'd be surprised if they needed to move the crane up since construction began just to accommodate adding five floors. Like I said, I'm not sure how much shorter "slightly shorter" than 380' is. I'm guessing it won't be just a few feet but probably at least 20-30' shorter if not much more. I'm not sure how much distance from the top of the structure the crane needs to operate. Keep in mind the 18th floor has higher ceiling heights than the others and the 19th floor mechanical level is even higher, plus the penthouse level and roof-top plaza area. I'm also guessing this full final height is going to include the ornamental rooftop elements as well, since the crane would install those too.
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^ Actually, if I'm seeing it correctly, I think the steel is only up to the 5th floor. The lower portions are the parking garage. For what it's worth, I'm told the crane is currently up to 280' and will eventually rise to 380' when it completes the tower. I'm also told that the final building height will be "just slightly shorter than the final height of the crane." Not sure exactly how much shorter "slightly shorter" is, but I have to believe it is at least 300'+, which would be 20' taller than the current height of the crane, for reference. So if you can currently see the crane from a particular location, you should be able to see the final building from that location too.

I know as recently as this summer 1890 was open from 11p to 4a Thursday-Saturday as a throw-back diner, with breakfast items, milkshakes, etc. I wonder if that's only a seasonal thing.

Cleveland: Perk Park Renovation
^ I know there was talk about reviving the Party-in-the-Park events: http://www.cleveland.com/remembers/index.ssf/2011/07/party_in_the_park_in_the_summe.html "Downtown Clevelanders fondly remember the days of Party in the Park. In response, Downtown Cleveland Alliance on behalf of the NineTwelve District is reviving the ever-popular event for meeting friends downtown after work on warm summer evenings. Enjoy great music, food and cold beer during happy hour and make some new downtown memories!"

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Thanks for the update JeTDoG. I was on the train that got stopped at W. 65th when the power was shut down, and the crew was very helpful and courteous. Caught the 22 to Public Square and was about 30 minutes behind schedule which, all things considered, wasn't too bad at all. Last time there was a major accident on I-71 I was probably close to an hour late to work.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
^ Yeah, just that there's at least one in University Circle that approaches that level, although that is certainly the exception to the norm. I had no idea there were rentals being priced even close to that high in the region. I just stumbled across the Park Lane and remembered this conversation.

Where is that info coming from? I don't think any apartment in the entire region is getting $3,000 per month. For what it's worth: http://www.forrent.com/apartment-community-profile/1030210.php
