  1. I think Charlie Winburn's idea for a rubber-tired trolley could work well on a route from downtown to Mt. Adams. Mt Adams is an area ripe for a touristy rubber tired trolley---and I don't think a streetcar path would work well up there.
  2. There are rental properties in City West. The leasing office is in the Senior building off Linn and Clark. The Townhomes/Rowhouses lining Ezzard Charles, Laurel Park Drive, Cutter and a portion of Court are all owner occupied condos. Everything else is rental. The rental properties is a mixed market rate and subsidized houisng. The subsidized housing has higher eligilibilty restrictions than what is associated with the section 8 program. I have enjoyed living in City West and would be happy to answer anyone's questions about my experience here.
  3. Doesn't Chic-Fil-A have a requirement that an area must be able to sustain a drive through line that makes a full rotation around the building and onto the street? Perhaps the Chic-Fil-A warrants weren't met. How would that work in their mall stores? ;) I don't think Chic-Fil-A has anything so written in stone that a store couldn't be modified to fit a new profitable area.
  4. I wish that I would gain more neighbors in 2009.

But California has mountains, beaches, ocean and warmth-----how many people do you know that look good bundled up in a parka?
  6. ^ I would like to add that all three states should agree on the boundary.
  7. ^ thank you!!!

I always thought Gay Standard Time was not a result of being lazy, but rather it was a inclination to have a drink before you arrive anywhere. I can't even begin to tell you how many gay friends I have seen in my life show up to a party/gathering already drunk.
  9. Can we please get back to our wish list for Cincinnati? I enjoy hearing the new ideas! I SO regret ever suggesting US Bank Arena should be replaced.

Thye mayor of San Fran is not gay---he just supports gay marriage and gay rights. I would say he is "gay-friendly".
  11. 3 million? Only if Dayton is included. Otherwise 2.2 million per the Census bureau. Anyway. I didn't mean for the arena to be the focus of this thread---It is a wish if mine. I thought we were just brainstorming rather than justifying the merits of our pet projects. *shrugs*
  12. I think the concourse and stairs are really the only thing that needs to be replaced w/ US Bank. Sure the arena's old, but it got a major facelift like 10 years go. It's not the newest or prettiest but it's functional. I'd like to think these big structures have useful lives longer than 30 or 40 years. We competing with the newest and prettiest arenas. US bank arena has had a functional life of 34 years now--longer than many arenas. Could we live with it awhile longer?---yes. But how do you compete against the new arenas being built in major markets all around the US. A face lift is nothing more than a bandaid (I tried to resist any reference to lipstick on a pig.) The only way I can see this scenario working is if all other cities stopped replacing their aged arenas.
  13. I don't think Cincinnati is big enough yet to support 3 teams. We need to gain more people in the metro area. Pro teams in the big three sports (NFL, MLB, NBA)are very expensive to support finanacially in a smaller market like Cincinnati. Hockey might be a possibility. This is why places like Kansas City (nearly the same size as Cincinnati) build arenas and do not get a team to play in them. That being said---I still think US Bank Arena needs to be replaced. I am tired of looking at those rusty stairs leading up to the place.
  14. Seattle?? They aren't building one which is why the lost the Supersonics to OKC. KC hasn't landed a major league tenant, but they are getting more top concerts at Sprint arena than the US bank arena. US bank arena is not state of the art anymore. We need a new one to compete. I don't think an arena has to have a major tenant to be successful (Although, I will admit it helps). OKC didn't have a major tenant for 10 years, but they hosted more big concerts than they hosted with the old arena.
  15. Another wish for 2009--for gas prices to go back up (maybe not to $4.00) so that the average person would seriously consider mass transit alternatives. It is going to take more than the dedicated urban dweller to get the people in this region to think past their SUV.
  16. A new branch campus for UC. Maintain the Kohl's and Bass Pro for the time being. Start the campus in Bigg's. Allow campus to grow as needed. Kohl's and Bass Pro rent could provide a funding source to build out the "new campus". Just throwing out ideas. As I see it, any idea should be worth considering.
  17. ^ I think a new arena would be nice...and it needs to happen sooner than later. The current arena is over 30 years old. Many cities larger and smaller have built or replaced arenas in the last decade. Funding could come from a stimulus package along with everything else being requested. I would like to see one surface lot in downtown torn up and built upon in 2009. I think apartment occupancy is running high downtown--maybe a new apartment building?
  18. Interesting info on Cinnnati Mills sale: http://www.municap.com/Reports/Port%20of%20Greater%20Cincinnati/Cincinnati%20Mills/Cincinnati%20Mills%20Developer's%20Semi-Annual%20Continuing%20Disclosure%20Statement%2006-30-08.pdf
  19. Or build a office tower at one end that houses a major business and two hotels at other points and call it the Cincinnati Galleria! ;)
  20. Tri-county has been renovated recently---and the renovations did not help it.
  21. ^
  22. This is very true. North Halstead in Chicago uses rainbow colored pylons as the gateway marker to the neighborhood. It defines the neighborhood and lets everyone know it is gay friendly. A simple pylon placed at various points along the street would serve the purpose.
  23. ^ This is why Little Caesars is planning a huge comeback. Decent pizza for a very low price.
  24. What a bunch of bull? Would you rather have these guys getting in loads of accidents because of the 30 minute stipulation, as happened back when they actually did guarantee that time frame? It's just a silly promotion to start with. Actually, Dominoes used to guarantee 30 minute delivery in the 80s or it was free. Some of their drivers were involved in some God awful wrecks that were storied on 20/20. And this is why they have the clause in their guarantee today....
  25. Who is leading this group? The NAACP doesn't realize how much this could help the constituents they are trying to protect. I also seem to understand that the money for the streetcars was not coming from city general funds but largely from private funds (I may be wrong). If this is the case, there is not the potential to reallocate these monies to the neighborhoods. It would just result in a net loss for the city. We have the chance to gain a streetcar or gain nothing from my perspective.
