  1. But not uncommon in the bidding process. This is a not a significant delay. I wouldn't read anything into it.
  2. I would agree that Brinkman is not a transit supporter. I think he would have a better life if Cincinnati's liberal leaning political constituency ceased to exist. It is amusing to read his wikipedia entry. The board is a volunteer board and appointees get no pay. What benefit would the fathers get by being appointed to the board?
  3. ^Well, do we know that they could be successful in another location? Do we know they had a successful business model? I was just stating my thoughts. Are they proven fact...well no. But they give us something to consider and discuss--which is this purpose of this forum.
  4. ^ they clearly catered to smokers. A ban on smoking would dampen business.
  5. And the Ohio smoking ban. I could not believe how much the place wreaked of smoke the few times I had gone in and I never went back after Christmas 2006.
  6. I think you're talking about the Stratford at Kenwood senior tower... http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,14131.0.html I love the fact that this is called Stratford at Kenwood even though it sits in Madisonville. The developers must believe that tying the project to anything in Cincinnati would kill the appeal.
  7. Look at Columbus' budget problems? Why don't you look at all of OHIO's budget problems lately. On the city, county and state level. They're making cuts in various departments in various cities. Cincinnati might be cutting their healthcare program and they haven't annexed in forever. New York City is extremely urbanized and they have major budget problems right now. Columbus isn't the only city thinking about charging people for garbage pickup. Jesus. I swear, you people will stop at nothing to blame anything on sprawl. We're in a recession. Show me documentation on how Columbus has had a progressively worse budget deficit correlation to that annexation chart up above. I blame it on building budgets based on an expected constant stream of tax revenues that are tied to markets and industries that are cyclical in nature while not putting away enough reserves.
  8. ^It was bound to be torn down at somepoint. I have faith that something spectacular will get built there in time. The fact that the lot is prime property and requires no demolition or clean-up makes it an outstanding candidate for immediate development when the market rebounds. If it had been on less desirable land, I might be more inclined to join the rage.

You had to be there! I remember when I was elementary school, we did the "YMCA" dance in gym class as a warm up. Did you ever see the movie "Just Can't Stop the Music"? It has to be the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. Why they made a movie starring the Village People and Steve Guttenberg, I will never understand.
  10. Green Township is nothing but a outer suburb. I would rather focus the efforts on good urban planing to the inner burbs and the city proper. Nothing in Green Township is being built to last so there will be other opportunities for urban style redevelopment when demand calls for it. There is to much infill and redevelopment that needs to happen in Cincinnati proper to expect anything less.

I thought the AF was the "gay club" of the military. Most of the gay men I know are in the Air Force. I can assure you that it is the Navy. They are also the only service with their name on their butts. REALLY? MTS---think about the Village People and it shouldn't suprise you.

Really, then I guess you loved this crap! (whippersnappers, you had to be there, so don't laugh. Although I know you will!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi7ZReTMLTw I used to roller skate to Puttin on the Ritz. Roller skating and playing pac-man were two of my favorite things to do in the early/mid eighties. My all-time favorite band is Erasure (I know... how gay is that?. I listened to them religiously for years before figuring out I wasn't straight. Someone needed to throw a large brick at my head to wake me up.
  13. Wouldn't that make it a poor market to locate in??? You know they aren't going to just throw away their current Big Dog shirt to buy a new one.

I find myself drawn to Coldplay's music. They have such an interesting sound. Reminds me of U2 in some respects.
  15. I dunno... Columbus and S.E. Ohio has to get cheap crap somewhere, and I am sure that most would rather go to Jeffersonville than Monroe. Also, does anyone know how big Jeffersonville outlet mall is? I think it might be around 600,000-700,000 sq. ft. vs the Monroe mall's 400,000 sq. ft. To put that in perspective, that is only the size of two Wal-marts or Meijers, and 130,000 sq. ft. short of Towne Mall 3 miles up the street. This is not all that big of a project, and I doubt that it will contain such stores as the Williams Sonoma/Pottery Barn outlet, Nike outlet, or the Brooks Brothers outlet. Jeffersonville might have to downsize, but I doubt that it will go away. I bet it does have all the "cool" outlet stores since it is a division of Simon Properties. They typically can sign good stores to their prime properties.

*sings* Sometimes the snow comes down in June, Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon.... oops that was Vanessa in the nineties---wrong thread...LOL

I am glad Vanessa Williams lost her crown after that Playboy spread. If she hadn't of made that mistake, we might not of know her as the villianous Wilhemina (sp?) Slater today.
  18. The Marathon gas station at Western Hills Plaza was demolished. I was driving down Glenway today and noticed how much nicer Western Hills Plaza looks without the station on an outlot. Western Hills Plaza itself was looking amazing!

damn---sometimes I feel like I missed out on my youth. Or maybe I just need regression therapy to remember it. :)
  20. Longer-----I haven't lived there for over a year. There are people who lived there for 2 years before I arrived. So I would guess around 5 years.

Would have never have guessed with the bloodshot eyes...hehehe
  22. Nice idea, but having lived there for 2.5 years and having served on the board for one of those years, I just don't see it happening anytime soon. Nice condos with good people. That being said, I am glad to be back in the city where I belong.

Okay...here is a pic of me. If you look closely (I wish I had the orginal picture), you can see small parts of the Hotel Del Coronado.

I spent plenty of time in my mothers closet growing up, both literally and figuratively. I think he meant grandmothers closet....He forgets how young you are in his old age. ;)
