  1. I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere around here, but does anyone know what's being done at Superior and E 105th? It just looks like they've done a foundation at this point. Edit: Nevermind, I took a second look and it appears they were just doing prep work for a surface lot that has a lot of power, sewer and water lines running underneath it. :-(

I didn't think that getting open was the issue. The issue was that they'd get open 1 yard short of a first down on the third down or they'd get open and not figure out how to catch the ball.
  3. I just don't think you can close those roads AND Ontario. What I have thought a couple times is that you could leave Ontario and Superior open, but close off all the side roads except Roadway past the Soldiers and Sailors monument (and make it 2 directions for getting to/from Euclid). You'd still have 4 squares, but they'd be connected to the neighborhoods around them. RTA would have to move the Healthline stops from the square over to the West Side Transit center, but I assume they were planning on doing that anyway, so it wouldn't cost them anything extra. Plus they're far less used than the roads through the middle of the square so it wouldn't upset too many drivers. see http://goo.gl/maps/asP3
  4. Hmm, while traffic is lighter on the sides of that quadrant, I think you might be asking too much to suggest closing off that corner and closing Ontario. I'm definitly with you on closing E 3rd, and would love to see us permanently change Rockwell the way it was temporarily reconfigured with bike lanes last month. I'm guessing there's another way that we can facilitate easier walking from the square to Mall A without having to close off those roads. I'd agree that it should be better than it is...
  5. Public Square has been shut down at times too though.
  6. Just rebuild the fake beer garden they had up during the Avengers filming.
  7. I've been "beeped" back to the curb occasionally by bus drivers when I clearly had the right of way, but as I'm somewhat smaller than a bus, I generally just step back, make a hand gesture and then continue about my day. I can see how someone that's not as predisposed toward public transportation would harbor a grudge about it though.
  8. AFAIK, the foreign license shouldn't be an issue with purchasing, plating and registering a vehicle. http://bmv.ohio.gov/vehicle_registration_facts.stm Insurance might be an issue though.
  9. For someone that rides a bike down Lakeshore everyday this is huge. Not so much the tunnel as the fact that they'll have to fix the street when they're done digging holes in it.
  10. To make a long story short, yes, but back in the 1800s. (Cows grazed there)
  11. FYI, the VA doesn't provide shuttles within the UC area, just one down to the Parma clinic.
  12. There is no need to. Return service from downtown special events is guaranteed for 90 minutes after the event ends. So if an extra-inning ballgame ends at 2 a.m., there will be RTA service from Tower City until 3:30 a.m. -- which just about the time it starts for the new day. Often, RTA supervisors monitor crowd flow, and service continues until the crowd is gone, which may be well before the 90 minutes. You could say the promise is: "Leave no rider behind." Good to know, but this is the first I've ever heard of the policy. Maybe RTA should do a better job getting the word out about this.
  13. That might be a historic portion of 20 and not a part of the current federal highway, judging by the rest of that page.
  14. Craigslist and "For Rent" signs are about all most landlords use because most of them are just renting out the 2nd or 3rd floor of their own house.
  15. It's been proposed before, but I'm pretty sure we have a scranton peninsula thread around here somewhere where this would be perfect. (yes, I am too lazy to look for it before someone asks.)

So that there's room for a shoulder.

Yeah, when people say Euclid, they pretty much always are refering to Euclid Ave not Euclid Heights Blvd.

My daughter called everything "gopth" for the longest time till she discovered our reaction when she said "hi". I swear she hasn't shut up since.
  19.
  20. I'm not going to say that there was or wasn't a controversy (I've never heard of one), but look at the area. Almost everything was already bulldozed when they put up Rhodes Tower. This picture is from 1950, 18 years before they built Rhodes.
  21. By the time Rhodes tower was built there wasn't really much left on that side of town.
  22. I'm not sure that it matters that much if it's a bit unattractive, (which I think it is) it won't stop people from visiting. I'd describe it more as uninspiring than ugly. Oh well.
  23. IMO it looks like it has a bit of a brutalist influence to its design which is not a good thing.
  24. There are a handful of apartments near University Circle that have shorter leases for Case students and tend to have slightly cheaper rents than the apartments near CSU, but again they'll go fast and might not all be listed online. (Or at least had cheaper rent than I could find downtown when my wife and I separated for a while a couple years ago.) I'll second craigslist as a good place to look.
