PETA complains every few years, at one point I think I heard they suggested a robotic or animatronic groundhog.

Awesome! In Rediscovered Letter From 1865, Former Slave Tells Old Master To Shove It http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/01/in-recently-discovered-le_n_1247288.html In the summer of 1865, a former slave by the name of Jourdan Anderson sent a letter to his former master. And 147 years later, the document reads as richly as it must have back then.

Shaker Heights: Van Aken District Transit Oriented Development
No need to apologize as it's obvious you didn't have anything to do with it. Just for fun I looked at the comments and I was happy to see they weren't critical of extending the line. (Though I'm sure they'd be critical had the article mentioned how much it's going to cost.)

Ohio Municipal Income Tax
It's completely ridiculous, especially the way certain municipalities *cough*Beachwood*cough* take advantage of and benefit significant the flaws of the system. People should not be paying full income tax shares to the cities (where they work) in which most spend less than one-third of their weeks. But the cities where we work still have to provide roads, police and fire for us. I'm glad that Cleveland gets some tax money from me and would hate to see what the city would look like without the tax money coming from commuters like me.

Ohio Municipal Income Tax
I will certainly never defend the local tax system we've got, it's a PITA dealing with RITA, but I'd be concerned about where they intend to replace those funds. If state income taxes were raised and then the funds distributed by the state to the localities I think they could probably do it more efficiently than the cities.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
IMO as a CSU student, CSU has for most of its existence been primarily a commuter school. The commuter students are its bread and butter. There's nothing wrong with the school trying to diversify and become more of a traditional residential university but it needs to keep in mind that many of its students prefer the old model and the university needs to at least be sensitive to their wants. If they ignore their commuter students they risk having those students commute another school or go to an online school. I'm ok with the school trying to appeal to a different demographic, but don't throw out current model in the process. I don't think there should be much of a problem with walking from the south garage, it seems a small inconvenience at most, but if a significant number of students do think that it is a problem, perhaps the university should keep that in mind before they close any other lots. Perhaps they need to consider adding another parking deck or expanding an existing one. I don't think we should make too big of a deal out of a bunch of students being annoyed, but if the University isn't paying attention and isn't listening to them, that could become a big deal.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I like the look of the plant. In an industrial kindof way it's actually quite an attractive building (the brickwork and huge windows are nice). Add in that it's got a nice lake view and is just across E71st from Gordon Park and it's a valuable peice of property. I doubt FirstEnergy will let it go for a while in case EPA regulations let up (depending on who wins in Nov) and they can reopen it. But IMO they'd be crazy to not at least consider trying to come up with a value on it in case it should someday be redeveloped.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I've always wondered if those sites wouldn't be perfect for wind turbines. They're right next to electrical substations which should reduce a little bit of costs for FirstEnergy and right on the edge of the lake to get the lake breezes. Plus if the people that live nearby didn't have a problem living next to a coal power plant, it's hard to imagine they'd be to upset by having a wind turbine instead.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Really? You can't? Then why did my high school ask me to either walk 3 miles or find my own ride? Why did the University of Akron when I went there in the 90s? Why did Kent State when my wife went there? I walk over a mile from the federal building 3 nights a week to get to class and it's my favorite part of the day because I get fresh air. Maybe you need to get a little more exercise if you think a quarter mile is too far to walk. If you were on crutches and you asked your doctor for a handicapped tag you could use handicapped spaces of which there are plenty. The parking fee isn't mandatory, I've never paid to park on campus. You're free to take the bus, ride a bike, or walk from your home to school. Or if you insist on driving and you have a problem with that price, park off campus. I'd like to see where you can park for less than that for an entire semester that will be as close as the South Garage.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
How many concerts are so big that they can't fit in the Q? I would guess there aren't many bands/tours/music festivals that draw that big of a crowd, and if you don't need the space, why not have it under a roof in case it rains.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
It's an interesting concept, I think we ought to wait and see how well it works in the real world though.

I will be moving to Cleveland soon
You have to give us a rough idea what you can pay for an apartment to get GOOD advice. If you're dead set on driving to the Clinic and Safety is a high priority, I'd look at the Coventry neighborhood in Cleveland Heights. If you want somewhere in the city, Shaker Square might be your best bet, but there are also a few nice places around University Circle to look at that might be within walking distance when the weather is nice, or even little Italy. It might be hard to find places with indoor parking and lots of stuff within walking distance unless you're willing to pay a bit more, just so you know.

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
I would guess it's a combination of less workers downtown and the fact that as most workers have moved further out, the rapid hasn't.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
^Colt isn't going to win us a super bowl, but if we drafted the greatest QB available next year it would be a waste because he'd spend all his time either running away from sacks or sitting on the sideline icing the latest injury.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Who Colt beat out. Say what you want about McCoy, he was a winner in college. Patch up the OL and give him one more receiver and I think he thrives. Thanks for the reference though, I had never heard of the "Reggie Cleveland All Star Team" before. Pretty funny. Agreed. I don't think Colt is the problem, I don't think he's the best QB I've seen with an orange helmet, but I don't think he's the problem. If he had decent protection from the line, someone to throw to that can catch better than my 3 year old, and someone to block for the RBs (so they could move the ball more than a couple yards at a time without a trick play) I think Colt would be ok. You can't build a good offense with a great QB and 10 guys that ought to be on your practice squad.

Cleveland: Perk Park Renovation
They've added a few new seats this week. They look like concrete lounge chairs. I'm not a fan of the design, but I do like that they a few more seats. (I tried taking a couple pics, but my cell phone camera is horrible so I'm not going to bother posting them.)

In the early 70s the EPA hired freelance photographers to document environmental problems and the cities and people dealing with them. I combed through a portion of their Cleveland photos and pulled out a few that I liked. Moving to Shaker Square
Perhaps as a general rule, but the couple of apartments I looked at north of the square were less than appealing.
