The façade project is definitely still on. (The building is being inspected by the fire department this morning as part of planning in case there's a fire during construction.) As for hiring new people, most of the openings they had have already been filled. The few that weren't are on hold because DOD is on a hiring freeze.

    Show off.

Defense looked great in the red zone, otherwise they at least slowed Indy down enough to give the offense a chance to catch their breath. Offense looked good once they got some momentum (The problem seems to be getting that momentum started.)
  5. I would love to, but I have class. :( I don't think having class should prevent you from ... oh, wait, you meant school didn't you? Nevermind.
  6. ^Maybe
  7. ^Wouldn't it be easier for everyone involved to just pour cement in the area where they sit? Or was this just an excuse to get rid of the busses and the poor people that are associated with them? I think I just answered my own question, nevermind.

    Agreed.
  9. It tempers the temperature, but adds humidity, which only partially negates any temperature effects you might feel. The breeze though is the nice part of living near the lake. (I live about 20 miles east of here, but the get the same effect because I'm 1/2 a mile from the lake.)

Well this week it looked like they were nodding off during the game itself. :-)

I don't really wipe my hands of them on Tuesdays. I give up on them at some point every fall though. Sometimes it's in November, sometimes December, but every year I've had to give up on them at some point. As far as I can remember, I've only once given up on them in September, and this week wasn't quite bad enough to make me do that again. If there's no improvement I might get my Sunday afternoons back in October though.

I don't understand why people aren't embarrassed by their own ignorance. A lady in my office just told one of our coworkers that she never realized there was more than one plane on 9/11 till she watched some TV special over the weekend. I could excuse being that ignorant, the day itself was confusing and a lot of people didn't want to watch the news because it was depressing, but why would you admit in public to being that uninformed? Now everyone within earshot knows you're an idiot. (To be honest we all knew before, but now we have further evidence.)

My cable went out with 5 minutes left. From what I could find online it doesn't look like I missed anything.

^I think we have a chance at a winning season, but playoffs? Please.

I don't think any of us knows yet.
  17. ^Aren't their already shops on the lower floor?
  18. ^I don't know about the 60s, but it's been there at least since the 80's.
  19. Beautiful.
  20. Several people on my bus were really disappointed when they found out the Bed, Bath and Beyond in the old East Ohio Gas building was just part of the movie, and not a store going in.
  21. ^To each his own, I think Cleveland's machines are worse than DC's. It took me a couple minutes the first time I used one of those, where as in Cleveland, I tend to give up and find a way to buy a pass from a person.
  22. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44359546/ns/local_news-cleveland_oh/ Cleveland one of most manly cities Take pride, Cleveland men. Cleveland has earned the distinction as one of the manliest cities in the country, according to the third annual “America’s Manliest Cities” study from Combos. (Yes, this is a real study). Cleveland ranks sixth on the list, up nine spots from its place in last year’s rankings. That ranking is good enough to make Cleveland the manliest city in the Midwest, better than state counterparts Cincinnati (14), Columbus (18) and Dayton (26).

yikes! OH NO, the world is getting dimmer and more overcast! :-) You guys can be depressed at the comparison but it was the big red crane that caught my eye first. Then I noticed a shiny new building (Whose name I've forgotten and am too lazy to look up). Then I saw a couple of older buildings that looked painted and spiffed up. I don't think it's a terrible comparison. Obviously it's not ideal, but stop being so gloomy about it. The weather in the 2011 picture is gloomy enough. Sheesh.

Was that a little Earthquake, or am i getting dizzy?
  25. I'm not holding my breath on this one happening. Russia still dreaming of Bering Strait rail tunnel The Russians are again talking about a railroad tunnel beneath the Bering Strait connecting the European rail system to North America's via Alaska. Wild guesses put the price tag at about $100 billion -- not including a rail link through Alaska -- up 50 percent since Russia last pushed the idea in 2007. Russia is already expanding its trans-Siberian rail network, the U.K.'s Daily Mail points out, so why not drill a few dozen extra miles beneath the strait?
