Governor John Kasich
I'll agree it's not something to get upset about, but it does qualify as a reason to respect him a little bit less.

Cleveland-Lakewood: Enhance Clifton Transit Project

Townships: kill 'em, keep 'em or combine 'em?
^Which makes him a poor candidate, but a good running mate. Back to townships...

Townships: kill 'em, keep 'em or combine 'em?
All of which is why he'd never have a chance in a primary.

Governor John Kasich
^Can we leave GWB out of this thread please? If the budget is in such bad shape that he's cutting salaries for many state employees, than hiring top staffers at higher salaries than their predecessors is hypocritical and kindof makes him look like jerk. If those top staffers do a really good job, than there's nothing wrong with having paid them well.

Townships: kill 'em, keep 'em or combine 'em?
FTFY. Too true.

Townships: kill 'em, keep 'em or combine 'em?
If the headline becomes "Blah Blah Township residents to lose control over ____ to the big bad incompetently run county" then it's dead in the water. On the other hand if the headline is "Blah Blah Township wastes millions paying it's leaders to do the same work the county could do for less money" then it's got a chance. Nothing is simply "what it is" if someone in a position of power opposes it.

Bike to work? Show of hands?
I got a really cheap bike for Christmas and have been riding a few miles here and there just for exercise. It's surprisingly easy to ride in snow so long as it's not as deep as the bottom of the pedals. I've gone as far as the park and ride (about 3 miles), but hopefully by spring when the ice melts a bit more and I get into better shape I can take it all the way to the office.

Townships: kill 'em, keep 'em or combine 'em?
It depends, if it could be shown that taxes wouldn't increase, services wouldn't decrease, and the newspapers/TV stations buy into it, then there would be a few conservatives that would come out for it, but most would still be opposed. They'd have to sell it as eliminating government waste.

It says I have ADD, which my shrink has told me too. So at least in my case it's accurate.

Cleveland: Random Discussions
Agreed. Take a walk around that neighborhood and you see that it's not as empty as it might look on a map.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
For most of the building, a second pane was retrofitted into the window frame years ago, so it's almost as good as double paned windows.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The Memorial Park garage may not extend under St Clair, but it is under Mall A Yes, but the garage isn't going to be undergoing construction. I would have to assume that Lakeside will close down at times during the construction.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
I would agree with this, but a true high speed plan would cost billions and I think the price tag would doom the plan. (As it has in the past when HSR was pushed for in Ohio.)

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Here's a pic from the 3rd, when construction started. And here's one from the 6th. I was intending to try to go up to the 31st floor of the federal building and take a picture every few days while they're working just to see the progress, but I have a bad memory, so we'll see. Sorry for the quality, they're from my cheap old cell phone.

Governor John Kasich
If he can pay a few intelligent people to save the state billions on the end, I have no problem with that. That article really seemed to nitpick a few key salaries that were raised, as opposed to a ton which were probably cut or even eliminated entirely. If it takes good pay to get good people at the top, why doesn't it take good pay to get good teachers, librarians, highway patrolmen, etc.? Considering Kasich has proposed cutting the budget so deeply that most public employees will be facing salary cuts, it's hypocritical to give higher salaries to his own staff than their predecessors under the Strickland administration. I think most anyone that looks at that blog will realize that it's got a liberal bias and most of us will take what it reports with a grain of salt.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
^ I was disappointed that the survey didn't give me to the option on question 7 of choosing improving the extended Euclid Avenue by extending the Red Line parallel to Euclid. By doing that you could give riders from Collinwood and Euclid a better way to get to University Circle. It's disappointing that the idea of expanding rail is ruled out as an option by your survey.

Your Daily Commute
I'm calling it an accomplishment that I managed to go through all of 2010 without driving to work a single time. Even better I walked home a few times. I'm hoping by summer I can ride the bike in and back and have a gas free day every once in a while.

Pet Peeves!
My Pet Peeve of the day, offices that decide to hold job interviews in a different city than the job. You want me to drive all the way to Brecksville so you can interview me for a job in University Circle? (I seriously had to pull out a map to find Brecksville)

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
The experts at Shell Oil belief their nightmare scenario of $5/gal gas in the US will happen by the end of 2012. There's a VERY good chance we'll see $5/gal plus gas within Kasich's term... let's see what he has to say then. His response will be to blame gas taxes and suggest lowering them.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of news in this thread in the next few days about what Holmgren plans to do to make sure we're ready for August.
