  1. If you're thinking of finding a different/second job, it's probably best to look into do that before you sign a lease and get stuck with a long commute you hate, or realize you settled for a home that's less than you could have afforded, or worse more than you can afford. And stop being so hard on yourself. We understand the desire to change and do something different. Good luck
  2. Well if you're still going to be working in Lake County (you didn't specify where, but if you're currently living in Eastlake, I assume it's somewhere on the west side of the county) and you don't want to be in an apartment complex, and downtown Willoughby is out of your price range, your options are definitly limited. Collinwood would be my first choice, but there are some homes split up into apartments in Euclid (Though admittedly not many in your price range). I haven't wandered around Painesville much myself, but I'd consider it your next best option. Is your employer near a bus line? I'm asking as it might be worth considering taking the bus instead of driving for a while to save money. (We tend to be a little bit of a transit nerds on this site.) As far as websites, for the most part they're going to list complexes which you said you didn't want. If you want to find something else, you're probably better off with something like craiglist, a newspaper classified section, or just wander the neighborhood you want and look for "For Rent" signs.
  3. Do you mean Route 2? SOM Center Route 91, not 90. The skyline is visible from parts of Penitentiary Glen http://www.lakemetroparks.com/select-park/penitentiaryglen.shtml. By the way, beautiful park at the site of the Halle family farm (Owners of the Halle department store downtown, now the Halle building.) There's a really interesting wildlife center there with a large exhibit of local wildlife. (To a 2 year old, a few owls, a bald eagle, a couple turtles and some deer are about as interesting as the zoo.) I think it's also visible from a couple places in CVNP.

Sorry about your Mom and glad to hear the little one is good. It's amazing how helpful hugging a baby can be when you're grieving. My Dad died a few months after my son was born.

I've been through one of these pat downs. (about a month ago, there was no line to get patted down, but the scanner was being rebooted so there were a couple people in line to get scanned). It was about as personal as the way a doctor has touched me, and the guy doing it seemed about as disgusted at having to handle "my junk" as I was at having it handled. I thought about making a smart ass remark to lighten the mood, (something like "So how many guys get turned on when you do that?") but TSA agents sometimes don't have a sense of humor so I decided not to. It wasn't the first time I've ever been patted down, in the 90's in some third world countries not all airports had metal detectors, and I don't think what they're doing is worse than what I expected. I suppose if you've never been patted down before it would seem weird to be handled like that, but I think people need to get over it. I will agree though, that profiling people based on criminal background, nationality, international flights would make more sense than picking people randomly.
  6. TC does not know how to manage or retain retail. I would hope they are managed separately! Agreed, a quick walk through TC should make that obvious. Forest City did a great job turning a train station into a mall, but should have hired someone else to manage their mall.

There's a mink farm not far from my in-laws, that beats a pig farm anyday. I grew up near a horse farm (and worked there during middle school) and the smell isn't too bad to me. It still smell like shit, but it probably doesn't bother me as much as some people.

^No I wash daily, I just don't feel the need to shower daily. Also, did you mean to post all that here?

You're stinking up this thread, smelly Frenchman! And you're wasting water. :-P

I shower two or three times a week, usually only on days when I've gone running. To paraphrase a line from George Carlin, as long as you wash your face, armpits, balls and ass everyday that's more than enough.
  11. ^I hope you're right, but I have a feeling he's going to go ahead and give the money back hoping that we won't remember it a few years from now when he's running for reelection. If he does kill it, the democratic party won't need help writing comercials about how he gave $400 Million of OUR money to New York/California/Illinois/etc.

AA in General Studies because I still haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up.

Give Wright a break. Yes, he's having a disappointing season, but 3 guys missed Holmes on that TD catch. It wasn't just Wright. And it wouldn't have mattered anyway as the Jets were well within FG range and I highly doubt Folk misses his 4th of the game. True, but that was far from the only missed coverage from him in that game. He's starting to get a reputation, so he's going to end up getting picked on more and more as the season progresses.

Any one else think that if we can trade Eric Wright to someone for a pack of skittles it'd be a good deal?
  15. That, or even longer buses! Maybe we should attach 3 or 4 little buses together instead of the 2 we've got duct taped to each other. Of course if we did that, it'd be too hard to make turns and not wander outside the lane when changing lanes. So to remedy that we could just place some metal strips in the ground that the wheels of the bus could hold onto to keep it going where it's supposed to. And while we're at it we could just make the wheels out of steel and have them run along the top of those little metal strips. That would make it more efficient. :-)

^ I guess that means I went to the community college of driving schools. They taught me how to go through drive thru when the instructor hadn't had breakfast yet, how to navigate the parking lots of all the electronics stores around Akron when his modem broke, how to parallel park in front of the U of A when he needed to drop off a form for his grad school advisor.

5 minutes of which is actually interesting.

^I don't know about your driving school but in mine we spent a lot of time at Tallmadge circle, admittedly that was mostly because it was summer and there were a lot of young ladies jogging and biking there that my instructor wanted to whistle at, but that's beside the point. I don't think we need to do a full test everytime or pay much extra in fees, but if they put a dozen questions on a written test and made you get most of them correct it shouldn't take more than a few minutes extra. Make a few of the questions be about unusual driving situations that confuse tend to confuse people because they haven't had to think about them in a while and it might help. If you fail the short test, you should have to take the whole written test over before getting your license renewed.
  19. Grumpy replied to a post in a topic in Urbanbar
Not just on the test! They should be asked every time you renew your license! I've always wondered, why do you need to take the test to get your license the first time, but don't need to take a test to renew? Do drivers magically get smarter because they've been driving for a while? Practice certainly helps, but practice can also reinforce bad habits.

I've figured out that the office microwave can be opened with 0 seconds left before it beeps. It confuses the snot out of some of the old people around the office and is a significant part of my own entertainment here. I'm easily amused.

I'd rather see them use Wallace as their starter and put McCoy in occasionally to make sure he gets some practice in a real life situation. I'd rather see us keep McCoy healthy this year so we can use him next year. I'm unimpressed by Delhomme, interceptions piss me off, can we throw him in on the trade of Wright for his replacement?

^ & ^^ Just because a TV network sponsered the poll doesn't mean it's a poll of their viewers.
