Did We Land On The Moon? ..And General Conspiracies / Urban Legends
I can't believe that I'm on a forum with people that believe this garbage. (Out of curiosity did anyone else see the episode of Mythbusters on this topic?)

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Check the link right below the picture. Its marking the spot of the weakest point on the bridge.

Consumer Spending
I'm saying I'll spend about the same as last year. I was quite cheap last year, and I don't see changing that too much next year. I'll probably spend a bit more on Christmas, but only because I've got an extra kid to give to.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
That's a good question and one I'm a little curious about too. The ESTC thread quoted seems mostly to do with the parking garage.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
In case anyone is curious they've got this 'thing' installed. I saw it this morning (sorry, no pictures) and I'm glad to see it set back from the road more than I had imagined. It doesn't look so bad that way. In fact I'm sure its been there for weeks with me riding by it on the bus everyday and not noticing it. (Actually maybe I should say you're welcome, no pictures.)

Veterans Day
Army. I signed up because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do when I grew up. I still haven't grown up, but 6 years, and 2 deployments to the desert later, I know for sure one profession that don't want to do anymore.

What Obama may mean for Cities
I love that line, its a good summary of my attitude toward why we need to improve our cities. I'm excited and encouraged.

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
I hiked with a few friends from the West side of the park all the way to the East side over the continental devide on a rarely used very difficult trail. We were young and stupid and unprepared for a hike that severe. Some of the trails we took are no longer even listed on maps for the park because they're just not safe to hike most of the year. Between the 5 of us we had; 1 case of frost bite, 3 cases of hypothermia, 1 infected blister, 2 cuts bad enough to require stiches when we got down, 1 pair of broken glasses, and more bruises than we could count. But we all have some great pictures and memories so it was totally worth it. I think. If I can find them, I'll post more pictures sometime.

Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
Well, if they can clearly mark where to go it sounds like an interesting idea. I'm guessing the accident rate will go up for the first couple months as people ignore the signs though.

Who Will Ohio Vote for in the 2012 GOP Presidential Race?
As a registered republican that willingly crosses party lines, (I proudly never voted for W) I'm declining to vote in this poll. I think its just too soon. I didn't hesitate in my decision to vote Obama, but I'd vote for any fiscally responsible, in tellegant, experienced candidate that recognizes the real problems our country regardless of party. I felt that the issues McCain stressed a few months before the primaries were the issues that he truly felt important and that he would have made the priorities of his administration. (if he'd been given the opportunity). McCain at that point proved to me that he didn't know what was wrong with the America I live in. By that same test, my choice, 3 months before the primaries, was Edwards, with Obama and Hillary coming close behind. Obviously in this election I felt a lot more liberal than in some previous elections. I'm weird, I'm getting more liberal as I age instead of more conservative like a lot of my peers. I intend to withhold judgement of the candidates till I've seen what issues are important to me and to the country and can judge the candidates on the issues they find important again.

Kent State University - 11/2/08 - Part 2
I still can't stand looking at the Starbucks where Brady's used to be. Brady's had so much more character and live music. Just sad. My wife spent some time working at Logos, where Campus book and supply is now and we used to walk over to Brady's after she got off work most nights. Ah, good old memories.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I think RTA could have saved themselves some trouble if they had announced the ribbon cutting as the beginning of limited service and the healthline wouldn't be at full service for a few weeks.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Just to second the last few comments, I was not aware that the project was not yet done other than the vending machines not working yet. I wrongly, aparently, thought that the big ceremony and concert indicated that the project was done. Thank you for clarifying.

ELECTION 2008 - Yes we can, no make that.....YES WE DID!

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
Well, no one has posted a picture of the day in a few days so I thought I'd find something. This is Lower Kintla Lake in Glacier National Park about 15 years ago.

The Great "**YOUR** Voting Experience" Thread
Well I tried walking over first thing in the morning but there was a long line already forming so I said screw it and just went to work as I said a few pages ago. On the way home just got off the bus a couple stops early and walked over to the pavilion in the park where by that time voters seemed to be outnumbered by poll workers by about 5 to 1. No line at all, but they couldn't find my name on the list, so I had to vote provisional. Walked home and was only about 15 minutes later getting to my house than usual.

Favorite City (Worldwide)
^ I traveled the world quite a bit as a poor college student. I spent a few summers and some semesters off volunteering for an international nonprofit organization. (I'll choose not to name said org for a variety of reasons.) During those travels I got to see a lot parts of the world that most tourists aren't too interested in, and got some days off in the most beautiful cities in the world. The pay was, well, non-existant, but I had a lot more fun than anything I've done since. The experience did help distract me from my studies, and may have contributed to me dropping out of the University of Akron, but it was fun while it lasted.

The Great "**YOUR** Voting Experience" Thread
I walked over this morning and saw how long the line is, so I decided to put it off till this afternoon on my way home from work. Also as I was writing the above sentence I got an email from my brother that he voted this morning and saw that both my name and my Dad's were on the list just below his in Ravenna. Which is funny to me as I haven't lived there since about '99, and my Dad has been dead for quite a while now.

Favorite City (Worldwide)
Vienna, without any hesitation, is my favorite. It's got history, culture, art, great public transportation, 4 seasons, smaller crowds than some of the more touristy cities on the list, short train ride to the Alps, centrally located between all the other great locations in Europe.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
While I'm by no means holding my breath on this, it is definitly a positive thing that some of the powers to be are at least considering the mall site still. I'd love to see the NCTC plan looked at again, though realistically some things might be worth looking at again. Its a beautiful plan, but it's a decade old and could use a little updating to integrate some of its changes with the city's lakefront plan, and some of the changes that have happened in the last decade. One big example of a change would be the big hotel proposed for 9th street in that plan (visible in the rendering KJP posted) probably wouldn't be needed if we're putting a huge new hotel where the county administrative offices are now. Of course, there's probably a NCTC plan thread around here somewhere so I'll stop now.

Colbert's shot at Canton
I've been DVRing Colbert the last couple months because of his election jokes, and I'm surprised it took theis long for him to get around to Canton OH. It's just a joke people. Sheesh.

Favorite non-Ohio city (US only)
well....you didn't look back on this thread before you said that did you? but don't get thrown off the board! Actually I did look back but apparently I missed your comment. Its been a couple days so I will now say as politely as I can that either; we have had very vastly different experiences with that city, we have very different ideas of what consitutes a pleasant city, El Paso has changed dramatically for the better in the decade since I last visited, or you're on crack.

Where do you live in Cleveland / Cuyahoga County?
If you'd included Willowick I could vote. While I can't see the poll results, it sounds from comments like western Lake county is as well represented here as some parts of Cuyahoga.

Cleveland: National City Bank News & Info
Excuse me? I have no objection to the swearing, but without context it seems to imply a minor case of digital tourette's.
