  1. Tremont is exhibit A. Arguably the worst stock in the city but nearly completely intact. And I’m not sure Cleveland needs any more encouragement in destroying its historic housing. I understand what the article is saying about limiting multi family development, but again I don’t think that’s an issue in Cleveland. I think we have one current instance of NIMBYs blocking development on W 73rd and people are extrapolating that into a city-wide problem.
  2. Seems like a lot of speculation from a poster replying to their own post (about which they apparently know nothing) lol

I’ve come around on the trade big time. We now have 2 top-ten-ish pick and roll initiators and 2 top pick and roll finishers. And as long as we have Allen and Mobley our defense is going to be fine. Our offense is going to be dynamic and relentless in a way it just wasn’t last year. I also think, as Clevelanders, we’re hard wired to overvalue draft picks. God willing, those draft picks will all be in the 20s. A real contending team has almost no use for picks that late, and we are a real contender now (I think). As far as injuries go, they’re always a risk. But you can’t operate an NBA team worrying about random injuries. The rosters are small and injuries are just a part of NBA life.
  5. Point taken but I wouldn’t describe white flight as “driving people away”. The race dynamic in American cities is always the elephant in the room when discussing population loss.

Mitchell is a great player but I worry about the opportunity cost of using all of your ammo on another small guard. They need a wing so desperately and now they don’t really have a path to acquiring one.

  8. Eh, I think they make good trades but not everybody becomes “garbage”. Brantley has made 2 all star games for Houston. I def don’t enjoy defending Bauer but he did win a Cy Young. And I guess say what you will about Lindor’s salary, but there’s no salary cap in baseball and basically any team would take a SS who is about to put up 25 HRs with 100 runs and 100 RBI on a .790 OPS.
  9. Undoubtedly true. But the list of players they have let leave in their prime has def hurt the franchise’s reputation. Manny, Thome, Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Bartolo Colon, Victor Martinez, Lindor. They traded Cy Young winners in consecutive seasons! I think Jose Ramirez is the only all star player they’ve retained outside of arbitration years (besides the disastrous Hafner extension). I would also say the Guardians have one pennant in 25 years while the Cavs made the finals 5 times in 12 seasons. That certainly has an effect.
  10. Well above expectations but still middle of the pack league-wide. They’re barely over .500. The central is just a terrible division. I know the Guardians are generally high in the local TV ratings but who even knows if you can trust TV ratings anymore. The Cavs always seem to be at least ok with attendance even when they’re terrible, so I think some of the fault probably lies with the Guardians too.
  11. Bro I don’t think you know what a government is

Taking Bird over Lebron is the oldest whitest thing you could possibly say. What a clown. I could mayyyyybe see taking Kareem over Lebron. I wouldn’t, but I think there’s at least an argument in there. But IMO it’s a 2 person race for GOAT
  15. Yes can’t argue with that data
  16. Hmmmm trying to think if there are any racist tent cities in Europe for any reason…🤔 /s It’s certainly easier to avoid seeing class and racial disparity in Europe. The main difference would be that the poor are pushed into the outskirts

It’s a good idea to keep their powder dry regardless. They are well stocked at SG (although nobody is really above average), no need to eat up too much cap space with Levert or Sexton. They also want to avoid going into the luxury tax, or at least starting the clock on the repeater penalties. Consecutive years above the cap has a multiplier effect. For instance, I believe Golden State will now pay $7 for every $1 over the luxury tax.
  18. I think this sums it up pretty well. The Browns are ok with giving a quarter billion to a person who committed sexual assault. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2022/08/debate-the-deshaun-watson-suspension-but-the-reports-finding-is-clear-he-did-it-doug-lesmerises.html
  19. “In regards to sexual assault, Robinson's report shows that the NFL was able to support its claim. Robinson said Watson not caring about massage therapists' credentials, using a towel instead of a sheet, and the probability that he had an erection during these sessions led to her decision on that claim. In regards to conduct that poses a genuine danger to the safety and well-being of another person, Robinson's report shows that the NFL proved its claim. The NFL said therapists were afraid after their interaction with Watson and one even sought therapy, according to the report. "Mr. Watson’s conduct posed a genuine danger to the safety and well-being of another person," Robinson wrote.” https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/what-we-learned-from-sue-l-robinsons-report-on-deshaun-watson

  23. “Need” just means needs help penciling out. Which would include delivering funds to the developer or owner regardless of their financial standing.
