  1. Had to look it up ”Stark paid $21.25 million for the quarter-acre lot at 431 N. La Cienega Boulevard” wow

Why would a contender trade their starting point guard? And why would the Cavs send out assets for a 34 year old player with 3 expensive years left on his contract? Losing Rubio and Sexton was awful, but now is not the time to sell out for shopworn veterans. If a young star becomes available, maybe you let go of some assets, but the strategy this year shouldn’t change because of injury. Keep the powder dry for next offseason. Everybody important on this team is under 25, the contention window hasn’t even opened yet. The Cavs have few truly tradable assets outside of their own picks; no reason to mortgage the future.

Increasing funding? Lol. Yes certainly the problem has been the continued enlargement of the public housing budget.
  5. You want to build a team without football players? 🙈

Wouldn’t be surprised if he signed something like a 1 year 20 mil contract so he doesn’t have to take a discount.

    This is the correct opinion

I can’t believe we get to have Mobley on our team. Also, I think everybody underestimated how badly we needed a backup PG. Even when he’s been bad shooting, Rubio makes a huge difference. As a reminder, we started Damyean Dotson at PG multiple games last year.

It’s gonna be real rough until Love and Markkanen come back. I would expect those two and Mobley will eat up the shots.

His best skill is making buckets, so league average shooting (22%(!) on 3s) on relatively high volume isn’t very valuable. He’s still a very bad defender, although he tries hard. He’s just bad at reading rotations. Advanced stats have never been his friend, even last year when he was undeniably good. But all of those numbers have cratered (small sample size of course). Pretty much any advanced measure has him as one of the very worst players in the league. I don’t think he’s anywhere near that bad but I also don’t think he’s much more than a replacement level player with one elite skill (getting to the rack) that gives everything back on the defensive side. He’s still young so I certainly wouldn’t give him away, but I’m not sure he’s a winning player. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/nba-player-ratings/

Hate to say it, but the team might be better off. Sexton has been awful this year. This also allows JB to move Okoro into the starting lineup at his natural position. The defense is gonna be nasty. I was worried about this lineup before the season, but Mobley is more of an offensive threat than I thought he would be this early.

They’ll be bad again this year but fun to watch I think. A lot hinges on Garland making another leap and Sexton maintaining his production. Having an actual bench unit and backup PG this year with Rubio/Love/Markkanen should get them at least a couple more wins. It’s gonna be fun watching Mobley on defense, but his offense is still very raw. It’ll be interesting to see how long they stick with 3 non-shooters (Mobley/Okoro/Allen) in the starting lineup. If the offense stalls they’ll at least have to think about going super big and switching out Markkanen for Okoro. Like I said, I think it will be a fun team but anything over 30 wins will be a surprise to me. One more lottery pick and another year of seasoning should have them battling for playoffs next year (hopefully).
  13. He started 11/12 games his final season. He had 16 passing TDs to 4 interceptions. He had a 90 passer rating and 500 rushing yards.

  15. I get your point, but basically every single arena that’s not in DC or NY is surrounded by parking.

Def an interesting situation. You really don’t see a star(ish) player with that many years on a contract and at that age become available very often. It would be a shame to let some of our core pieces go but if the price is something like Sexton/Okoro/2 top 3 protected picks I think you have to consider it. I think it comes down to how long Philly is willing to wait.
  17. That would make a great parking garage for the casino 😏
  18. I think Baker shows he isn’t that guy. Defense is good and RBs/Line excel. 8-9. They had a negative point differential last year and their expected W/L was 8-8. Also bottom half of the league (per football outsiders) in DVOA. I see a big regression.
  19. I think @KJPis saying that the 18+ increased for the whole county.
  20. Wow that is an amazing tool. As far as the whole city goes, interesting that the number of occupied housing units basically stayed level while the population tanked so much. Kind of shocked at how much the white population dropped.
  21. If you can get the cities of Buffalo and Cincinnati on the line I would be glad to tell them that they shouldn't worry too much about population gains or losses because they are determined by exigent forces that the municipalities themselves have little control over.
  22. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think we worry too much about population loss and try to assign blame where there really isn’t any blame to place (at least locally). The losses in Cleveland and most of the rust belt are 99% attributable to deindustrialization and the negative externalities of free capital. I think we’re mostly fooling ourselves if we think electing the right mayor or enacting some hosing based neighborhood initiatives would make more than a small dent in these broad economic patterns. I’m not sure how you make far flung east side neighborhoods with no freeway access attractive to new housing development, unless you reopen every factory that’s been shuttered in the past 70 years. Cleveland boomed because of a massive increase in industrial production and emptied out when the freeways went in and manufacturing stopped. That’s always going to be true and I’m not sure how you turn back the clock on that or why we think we need to.
  23. Gotta have Mom’s on Clark and 65th! The greasiest!
  24. $435 million for a renovation????
