U.S. House OH-11
No she said she would rather not eat any sh!t “It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of sh!t in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing. It’s still sh!t.” It’s a pretty good line

U.S. House OH-11
I think this nails it. The modern Democratic Party is much more concerned with appearances than policies. There really is no political home for progressive ideology in the present system. I think the main line Democrats are content to draw themselves in contrast to Republicans and call it a day. The comparison of Biden and Trump to a bowl of feces seems pretty apt to me. Impolitic but apt.

Very happy about this. That’s a great building and it’s in bad shape.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I think Tower City originally was really well integrated with the transit and pedestrian experience. It’s been in disuse for so long I think it’s easy to forget that foot traffic flowed really well between Prospect, Huron, Euclid, and Ontario while the mall had active uses. I think if you can get active uses throughout downtown a lot of these access issues solve themselves.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Thank god. City Block always seemed like a terrible idea to me. If Bedrock can revive the mall to even half of what it was it would be an absolute game changer for downtown.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
I think it’s a good idea to have low cost housing available in the CBD. But LIHTC is very much similar to Section 8. It just shifts the funds from individual vouchers to housing developers. Lots of housing we would consider “projects” were built or renovated using LIHTC. But I agree it is a bummer that we have a stigma around affordable housing in general.

I agree the Campbell administration got nothing done in the 1980s.

I couldn't find this anywhere, but isn't there some danger that the Willow bridge will be removed? Wouldn't that make the new bridge inaccessible? I'm sure there must be a contingency, but everything I could find on line suggested that the future of the Willow bridge is very much in doubt.

Isn’t it all basically connected already? The Treadway trail is right there and feeds right into the towpath.

Agree. This seems like spreading (I’m assuming) public resources thin when there’s still so much work to do in the CDB. This plan just seems like some billionaire’s coke dream of city building.

That’s a lot of wide open space. Seems like probably a lot of public investment for little return.

I’m glad the census happens so infrequently that we only need to have these pointless MSA discussions once every ten years 😏- Cleveland: Population Trends
Not trying to put words in anybody’s mouth but by “generating wealth” I think @westerninterloperwas saying bringing wealth into the region. Tech and manufacturing are export industries that bring in money from outside the regional economy. “Eds and meds” generally refers to services that simply redistribute money within a local economy. Certainly there are exceptions, especially in medical research. But most medical jobs here are not new research positions. Same reason I’m always dubious when a developer says a new retail development, sports facility, etc. is going to create “x” number of jobs. They’re not really creating new jobs, they’re redistributing existing regional capital.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News

The bottom line is if the council person wanted the project enough, it would get built. That’s how it works in Cleveland. For better or (definitely) worse.- Cleveland: Asiatown: Development and News

Are you talking about the Dave’s building that already exists? It’s a redevelopment.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Sexton is straight up a SG. I think the team realizes this now. Darius definitely has the reins of the offense when both are on the court. They do desperately need a scoring forward and more functional PF play (despite Wade playing relatively well). Obviously Love and Nance will fill a huge gap. A veteran backup PG for next season will be at the top of the off-season to do list I would think.- Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
