  1. Pretty disappointing. Thought we would continue to see market rate push down 25th street. I know current policy promotes LIHTC new construction, but I wish affordable units could instead be rolled into market rate developments. It seems like we’re just recreating the mistakes of the past here, at 74th and Detroit, and on Lorain at 44th.
  2. Anecdotes about the structural integrity of a 60k seat stadium? I haven’t heard any. The links related to a couple of flooding issues. Everybody knows that if your house has any issues after 26 years you better tear the whole thing down and build another one for $2 billion dollars. There is no hard evidence that the stadium is in any type of bad condition.
  3. The stadium was crumbling and game attendees were in constant danger of being brained by falling concrete but it still had a good 10 years to go? Makes sense!
  4. That’s it, delete the rest of the thread, this guy nailed it. Couldn’t possibly agree more, on every single point.
  5. That’s a city. Brookpark isn’t Times Square or Queens. The example given was the regional rail network in Germany. That’s not the same as a subway or high capacity light rail. The New York subway, Paris Metro, Milan Metro, etc, etc, etc are all efficient because they serve incredibly dense center cities. Not sure why you guys are twisting yourselves in knots to make Brookpark, the poster child of postwar sprawl, into the 18th Arrondissement.
  6. No public transit works best in a single, large, densely populated central city.
  7. I’d go along with this if you can somehow add 4 million people to the region. Downtown is already basically dead, it’s not like we have a lot of urban vibrancy to spread around.
  8. I don’t think they have chessboards in Tennessee. But also, even if they knew how, the Haslams don’t need to play chess. They’re going to get every single thing they want without compromise.
  9. If that “ancillary development” isn’t funded by a TIF or some other tax diversion I’ll eat a cleat.
  10. Does that public half include the $600 million in state funding?
  11. I’ll just toss in here that the Haslams threw a lavish fundraiser for the JD Vance senate campaign, so that’s the type of thing where your tax money will be going directly.
  12. 100%. The stadium is “falling apart”? Please. This benefits absolutely nobody but the Haslams. I’m not sure why every media outlet is so willing to fall in line without any criticism. These people have proven over and over again that they are absolute frauds and crooks. All this “deal” does is add Cuyahoga county residents and leaders to the long list of people swindled by these corrupt hillbillies.

We did Venice>Trieste>Istria. Can’t recommend Istria enough if you’re ok driving.
  14. Most ethical landlord here
  15. Smaller than MSA. That looks more like the urban area numbers but still not an exact match.
  16. Wow this is so bad good lord.
  17. That really sucks. My depressing guess is that the Family Dollar on Detroit closes and takes that spot. Or maybe we’ll luck out and have a Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Save A Lot all in the same neighborhood 🤞
  18. Looks like if you had a dentist appointment at Eaton
  19. Self police? Who should be self policing specifically? And I for one would not appreciate a permanent military presence in the city, but that may just be me.
  20. I would be shocked if losing the Browns cost Bibb an election. He’s not the mayor of Medina County, he’s the mayor of the City of Cleveland. Also, you’re burying a lot in the second part of the above statement. As many others have pointed out, there is almost not evidence that there is a net benefit in “spinoff business from regional tourism”, especially for football stadiums. This stadium, if built, will cost taxpayers much much more than it will ever benefit them in any financial sense.
  21. Literally in the subheading of @KJParticle
  22. Can’t argue with that, that’s just science
