  1. That’s true. The author also cherry-picks 1980 as a starting point for some reason. Obviously there can be multiple trends in a 40 year gap.
  2. I think it’s already covered in the Edge thread
  3. Yeah it’s not great. Knez smearing a lot of bland architecture all over the west side.
  4. Yeah they def have a Disney/lifestyle center vibe. The siding really gives it a cheap appearance.
  5. He has a higher overall rating than Myles Garrett from PFF last 3 seasons
  6. Seems to me there’s a big gap in that analysis, namely it doesn’t look at tracts that were between 20% and 30% poverty and are no longer in that range. If you look even at the east coast cities there aren’t a lot of tracts that met the narrow definition. Maybe 8 tracts in DC, a few less in Baltimore, and only 1 in Pittsburgh. Edit: Also seems arbitrary to pick 1980 as a baseline. Lots of the tracts on the west side increased their poverty rates from 1980-2020 but have declined since 2010 or even 2000 according to their data.
  7. I think not wanting to sign with the browns is evidence of a sound and sober mind.
  8. The city won’t grow while the region is shrinking. As long as the Cleveland metro lags in immigration and jobs the city won’t see significant growth. There has been investment in the near west side and downtown, but practically everything south of Carnegie on the east side is in a free fall. edit: @Oldmanladyluck sorry for saying the same thing as you at the same time but worse.
  9. We must be doing a bad job of license plate tracking ?
  10. I used to work in that building when it was the offices for the Stockyards CDC. It’s an awesome old building with a few cool art nouveau details.
  11. Congrats! That’s a great location. West 81st is def a real hidden gem. I looked at a house over there on 81st before eventually buying at Fir/65th about 10 years ago. That house had a servants’ quarters and a separate servants’ stairway to the kitchen. I think it was going for 80k back then.
  12. Literally filling in Euclid Avenue
  13. Doesn’t it have reliable transit and bike routes?
  14. It’s where that “dancing” building is. You can see Freddie’s and I believe the “Barbecue” which were on Vincent.
  15. That’s not quite true. Society built Society tower pre-merger with Key. Society also acquired AmeriTrust pre merger with Key.
  16. http://www.westsidemarket.org/pdfs/New Tenant Application Packet.pdf
  17. The most cursed restaurant spot in the city. I don’t understand why nothing has stuck there. The location seems like it would be so great. I think Sage managed to stay open for 2 or 3 years there but I don’t think anything else has lasted even a year. Very curious!
  18. Right there with “beverage store”
  19. More like a-bore 44! Got em
  20. I would think average would be more likely.
  21. Yeah those numbers seem like...lies? I guess it depends on how they’re defining the neighborhood but I can’t think of a single way to slice it where the income would be that high. Edit: Looks like the WSJ got those numbers right from OCI: “In the Ohio City neighborhood, the median income skyrocketed to $93,000 from $23,000 since 2006, according to Ohio City Inc., a local nonprofit development group. Median home values shot up 800% since 2000 to $270,000, according to Ohio City Inc.” I call shenanigans. I’d buy median sale price at $270k but not median value. There’s no way that income figure is accurate.
  22. Although....St. Michael’s was a German catholic parish and the Sachsenheim isn’t too far away.
  23. Are you thinking of the Italian Bakery, Mazzone’s? That area of Fulton was pretty heavily Italian. The bakery is still there, along with Johnny’s, a couple pizza places, and St. Rocco’s. There was also a large Italian import store across from the bakery until I think the late 90s.
