  1. Il not going to pretend to know anything about QB prospects but I liked this breakdown http://actasports.com/statoftheweektop-5-qb-prospects-performance-by-throw-location/

The 2009 team had shooting everywhere. Delonte, Wally Szczerbiak, Mo Williams, Boobie, and even Pavlovic all shot right around 40%, all on high volume. They also defended at a high level. Still can’t believe they didn’t win it all that year. 4th ranked offense, 3rd ranked defense. This team has shooting with....Korver, I guess? I think Philly wipes the floor with us. They just have so much talent and added lots of veteran shooting. The Cavs just aren’t very talented (or enjoyable).
  3. I don’t know if you knew this, but people with low incomes have a hard time accessing the credit that in most cases would be necessary to go cashless. In the United States of America, the country which this article addresses, people of color are disproportionately likely to be affected by issues of low income. I agree not everything should be about race. But the males of white European descent who control the political process on this continent have had a real problem ignoring race for the better part of 5 centuries (see slavery, innumerable laws and social norms forming a barrier to an integrated society). I would blame that weighty history sliiiiiiightly more than the HALF SENTENCE that addresses race in the article.

Not psyched to be the Tristan defender considering how terrible he is now, but he also got paid because he was a key contributor with a not easily replaceable skill set on a championship-wining team attempting to repeat.

When he switches out on guards it usually ends up meaning the other team scores, whether it's the mismatch with his man being guarded by one of our guards or their guard making him look silly (just because his ability to stay with a quick little guy is better than average for a big man doesn't mean it's good). Also, you're trading a handful of offensive rebounds for no other offensive talent. And that's not to mention how awful he is rebounding at the other end of the floor. He's an undersized big man who has no ability to score outside of 5 feet. His hustle maybe should have earned him $5-$8 million a year, but you shouldn't get elite money with his skill set. Now we're paying top dollar for a guy that we can hardly keep out on the floor. I thought this was all very predictable at the time. That’s true this year but not the previous two years. He was an elite defender and the numbers back it up. His DBPM, VORP, and win shares were all excellent. Those defensive advanced metrics are more impressive considering his low defensive counting stats. His injuries clearly have taken a toll. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/thomptr01.html

We wouldn’t have won the ring in 2016 without Tristan. Bad on the Cavs for paying on past performance, but he used to be a very valuable player. He’s clearly lost a step, but he used to be able to switch out onto guards and was an elite offensive rebounder. Those kinds of role players get paid. Hard for the Cavs to know he’d look washed when he should be entering his ostensible prime.
  7. If you ever get a chance to talk to Bob Roche, the leader of the anti-Wahoo movement, he is a genuinely sweet and well-spoken man. While neither of us would convince the other, I would ask what has changed since 1989, when "Major League" came out. IIRC it garnered zero protests. My answer to that question is we've become more thin skinned as a people, to the point of seeking "offense" when none exists. This has become a virtue to some. This is toxic in a pluralistic society and we are seeing those poisonous results. This is as good a place to push back as any. I agree, pretending to be offended by people protesting a sports mascot is very thin skinned, toxic, and stupid.
  8. Your hatred for Cleveland shows every time you talk about the place. I get it you go back and forth with several Cleveland posters on other sites, but again, I don't get why you talk so negatively about a city you know literally nothing about. I'm still waiting to hear about this. And if you don't think this post I quoted you in doesn't reek of being smart, try reading it from an outsiders perspective. "Made a top 10 list..." Don't troll, it doesn't look good. Don’t feed the trolls!
  9. I believe HUD guarantees the mortgage but doesn’t supply the capital. The capital comes from a traditional lender. https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/housing/mfh/progdesc/rentcoophsg221d3n4

That was clear last year when Brad Stevens led a bunch of jags to the top seed in the East before getting bounced by the only legit team (the Cavs). I think people's expectations should have been much lower for Thomas and Crowder. The trade was for Brooklyn's pick full stop. Both of their contracts had value, with Crowder being so cheap for multiple years and Thomas expiring. Neither of the recent deals get done without those particular contract parameters. The Cavs were certainly hoping for one or both to work out but the contracts made both players attractive assets.
  12. Cavs just extended lease at Quicken through 2034.

Philly and NYC have similar accents? The NYC area has accents within accents...people from North Jersey sound different than people from Long Island. Suffolk Long Islanders sound different than those closer to Queens/Nassau. Philly also has different accents..South Jersey people sound different than those living in Bucks and up towards Allentown. Also, I've never met anyone from Cincy who sounded like a New Yorker either. Some sounded more Southern to me like the Central Virginia/Richmond accent. Philly accent is very similar to Baltimore
  14. Article says she was executive director. It's been a while since I worked at a Cleveland CDC but the annual block grant amount available to individual councilpeople (the main source of funding for most CDCs) is under 500k. So embezzling @200k is pretty brazen.

i still don't like the way lebron has had to take it upon himself to do it all, but 12 in a row now? with thomas and perhaps derrick on the way back. i think the old bangwagoners are circling back. that christmas day clash in cali is looming just ahead as large, very large. http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2017/12/cavaliers_take_stock_needing_o.html I actually think Lebron has been picking his spots (and reserving himself on defense). He's just been insanely efficient. He has a career high 66% TS right now which is unbelievable. Cavs have been getting tons of help from Love and the entire second unit. Even with IT out, I feel this team still has another gear they can reach.
  16. West 65th and Detroit is usually the example for an intact corner.
  17. The Browns get the same amount of first round picks as any other team. If you mean first overall, this was the first time they've picked first since 2000.

  19. I think Chicago is much more bland. I suppose there are a lot of same-y glass towers in Toronto but the neighborhoods are beautiful and incredibly lively.

Well, the self-titled former King is eligible for free agency next year and has a house in southern California! He has not one, but two, teams to choose from out there! I didn't know trolling a UO thread was a thing!
  21. Their cap space is going to get squeezed next year, based off of the contracts thu handed out this year to Collins, Bitonio, and a few others. They only have 28m available next year and that's with several roster spots still to be filled. http://brownswire.usatoday.com/2017/06/25/browns-salary-cap-room-takes-big-hit-in-2018-and-beyond/

He went to the Thunder! I guess he's not going to that soon-to-be dumpster fire which Irving got traded from for spare parts! Dumpster fire? Spare parts? Nope!
  23. I was watching ESPN this morning and one of the commentator essentially made the same point. What a mess. Loomis tends to insert himself even when it's not needed. Hoping the Browns players stick to their guns.
  24. Pretty fitting considering Loomis is the type of person who makes this kind of protest relevant.

If IT is missing 2 months+, the Cavs really needed to get another player out of this. I agree the Celtics seem a bit oddly constructed. They're going to have to have at least 2 of Smart, Rozier, Brown, and Tatum emerge as valuable contributors this season to compete for the second seed. I think they must really have their sites set on the post-Lebron era though. They're set up really well if their draft picks hit. Cavs were set up similarly when Chris Grant was GM. He was great at acquiring assets, awful at evaluating talent.
