I feel like the Hayward singing doesn't move the needle very much for the Celtics, specifically against the Cavs. I think it has the possibility to pay off down the line, but doesn't Avery/Crowder already give them 80% of Hayward? And one of those two will have to be moved (unless it's Smart) while the other loses minutes and touches. I feel like this will also limit the value of IT. Thomas is only worth anything on the court when he's running the offense and scoring the ball. I'll actually be more worried if they're able to move Thomas for pieces to complement Hayward and Horford. Very glad they didn't end up with PG or Butler. Cavs in 5.

I think it's also overlooked that we should be expecting improvement from Kyrie over the next 2-3 years as he enters his prime. It's not guaranteed, but players generally have their best seasons in their age 26-29 seasons.

Agree with this 100%. Cavs could have easily won in 2015 if everybody was healthy, same for Warriors in 2016. 2017 was the only year both squads were healthy. Cavs always have a shot with Lebron, but if Warriors lose any of Curry, Durant, or Green it's an entirely different game. They're also going to have a much more difficult road in the playoffs this year.

I still don't understand the reasoning (not saying it isn't true) that Indy or Chicago wouldn't want to trade within the conference or division. I suppose it makes sense with Boston since theoretically their window should be open longer than the Cavs. But PG and Butler (not to mention Lebron) should be well into decline by the time those teams are ready to contend.

The Griffin thing was definitely weird, but I'm 1000% sure we're missing some part of the story. Really can't believe Lebron didn't have anything to do with it (although his tweet would seem to indicate otherwise). I also don't see how Griffin would have done anything different this offseason. We got Korver back at a very reasonable salary and found a cheap backup PG. I don't know how to explain what happened with the PG and Butler trades. I have to think Boston would have been able to out-bid us regardless of whether Griffin was here. For better (and I don't know how you argue with 3 straight Finals appearances) or worse we'll be rolling out the same 8 man rotation for next year's playoffs.
  6. Good call on Honey Hut and Drink skorasaurus[/member]. I too mostly grew up at Plymouth Park!
  7. It's cheap and somewhat convenient to the near west side. There are also some cool local businesses like Jack Frost, Old Brooklyn Cheese, Dina's, and the Sausage Shoppe. But it's not very walkable (as far as getting to shopping/dining) and the housing values fell off a cliff similar to Stockyards and Brooklyn Centre, although not as drastically. It has some stability and I think (purely anecdotally) that a small number of young professionals are taking advantage of the low housing costs/high housing quality. But I don't think it will ever gentrify like the rest of the west side. It's just too far away from what's going on in OC/DC/Tremont. It would probably be a great place to buy if you plan on staying, but I wouldn't expect to see any gains if you had to sell within a few years. That being said it is a large neighborhood and some areas (South Hills in particular) are probably still retaining value.
  8. They're north of Willey, that's all Duck Island.
  9. Idk, I think there's bad electronic music just like there's bad guitar music. I don't understanding dismissing music based solely on the tools that are employed in its production. That sort of biased thinking can lead one to miss out on some great music. A man has to have a code I guess though?

Of course but that has/had nothing to do with their ability to get Butler or George
  11. bumsquare replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
Jimmy Butler and Paul George couldn't be "lured", they were or are going to be traded. The Cavs acquiring or not acquiring them has nothing to do with their desirability as a franchise.
  12. I imagine most people don't have a clear grasp of what goes into making a good electro track. It generally requires greater understanding of compositional elements than rock music, and greater attention to details like precise frequency ranges. I think electronic music also lends itself to more interesting songs and compositions since it's not limited by guitar/bass/drum arrangements or human muscles. I'd much rather listen to the latest Katy Perry or Weeknd track than any generic, muddy, 90s grunge song.

No way Lebron wasn't in on this. He also "had no idea" Blatt was getting tossed ?
  14. For the most part, I guess this list makes sense and I wouldn't call it a "Dumb ss[/member] list" necessarily. Columbus and Cincinnati seem to have a lot of Fortune 500-1000 or growing companies who seem to need workers so badly that they're actually willing to take on entry-level recent graduates and take the time to train and develop them even though they run the risk of the majority of new workers leaving after 6 months or a year. I think that's what makes a city's business climate the most friendly to recent college grads. Cleveland certainly has that with AmTrust (they've been acquiring other companies left and right) but that seems to be the extent of it in the Cleveland area, from my knowledge. Is Nashville really that great for college graduates? Looking at their metrics, I see they consider 'entertainment options' to be a factor but Nashville is known as the epicenter of Country Music culture; I wouldn't exactly consider that an entertainment option for people like myself who don't really care for country music unless it's Johnny Cash or someone extraordinary like that. For most people, country music isn't exactly an 'entertainment option.' There's a very limited market. I don't know much about Nashville but seeing them ranked at number 3 is weird to me, unless country music culture holds as much weight as much more important factors, when so many people in America don't even care for country music. Cincinnati scored very low for jobs. It's ranking is based almost entirely on its affordability. I think the fact that the rankings are only based on 3 criteria, one of which is "fun", fully qualifies this list as dumb.

Yep. I can't remember, did something similar happen last year.....?

So many things had to go right for Boston. They played really hard but there aren't going to be many games where Lebron scores 11 and Smart scores 27. Very irritating but a complete aberration.

Don't forget Terry Rozier! Boston has Timberwolves disease when it comes to point guards for some reason.
  18. Pretty sad. TV ratings still among the highest in the league though. It seems like the top of the attendance table is always populated by the largest markets (maybe obviously), while tv rating s are typically dominated by smaller markets. Of course baseball-crazy St. Louis is the exception. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2016/09/28/here-are-the-2016-mlb-prime-time-television-ratings-for-each-team/amp/
  19. Hahahahahaha good call!

I think Lebron is playing some of his best ball too, but mostly because of his bball brain and efficiency. He is well past his physical peak. Go watch some replays from the 2009 playoffs. That was peak physical Lebron.
  21. The "distance to city center" doesn't work for Cleveland comparatively because its top half is an enormous body of water.
  22. I took the flight from Austin today (4/7). FWIW it was 90%+ full.
  23. Is this a weird city of Cleveland agenda writer quirk or do people in Cleveland really say "Convenient store?" In case my question seems odd, the rest of the country says "convenience store." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convenience_store I think most people would say "convenience", but there's a large chain/franchise of stores called "Convenient".
  24. No, the west side Cleveland dots begin the with a cluster in Lakewood, considerably closer to the core than Bay Village. Likewise the inner east side cluster begins at University Circle, which one would obviously expect.
  25. The redevelopment of that building into 6 apartments was already announced, with the printing company staying as a tenant.
