Cleveland Cavs Discussion
He absolutely is. The fact that people keep reporting on it is just proving his point.

I think teams were also intrigued by that 57%(!!!!) shooting from 3 he had his sophomore year. Needless to say that turned out to be an aberration.

I'm beginning to suspect he might not be a very good president.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
That draft (2103) actually ended up being pretty good. I think the only real duds (besides Bennett, who can't even see dud from where he is) in the first seventeen picks were Trey Burke and Ben Mclemore. Borderline all stars Rudy Goebert and Gorgui Dieng were also taken later in the first round. As far as Grant goes, yikes. He basically missed on every young star currently in the league. Kawhi, Klay, Drummond, Lillard, Giannis, Goebert, McCollum. Good at making deals with Gilbert's money, horrrrrrrrrrible at talent evaluation. Even Wiggins might only be the fifth best player in his draft.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Yeah I think that's a pretty accurate interpretation. He should work well with the Cavs I would think, especially with the Lebron, Shump, Liggins, Frye second unit.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Obviously open to interpretation, but his advanced stats show him as a plus defender the past 5 years (with negative offensive numbers past 2 years).

Istanbul Turbulence
Awesome thread! It looks like such an amazing city. I've been wanting to go but have been scared off by the coup and the terrorist attacks. What was it like being there during the coup?

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Lack of parity is definitely a concern, although I'm impressed with the high level of talent across the league. I just got League Pass this season and have been watching a lot of Rockets, Thunder, Raptors and they all have tons of talent. Even teams like New Orleans, Sacramento, and Portland with only one real superstar are still fun to watch. I don't know that there have ever been this many top-tier players in the league.

The AMA restaurant thread
It definitely depends on the place. I've worked at bars where this happens occasionally. However alcohol or drug consumption wouldn't have been tolerated at any of the restaurants I worked at (beyond wine tastings before a shift or a "shift drink" after service had ended.)

Urban Planning and Related Careers in Ohio
I went to graduate planning school at CSU and have found the degree to be mostly worthless. I enjoyed the work while in school, but I'm not sure how much value employers put on the degree. If you're really interested in CDC work, I would suggest volunteering. You'll save yourself a lot of money and will probably be just as likely to find a permanent position. I'll also add, having worked for both a CDC and a private developer, the private sector has much more potential to be rewarding both professionally and financially. I'm certainly a bit cynical about the CDC establishment in Cleveland, but I find most of the organizations to be inefficient and ineffectual.

NBA: General News & Discussion
I don't think star player movement is any more common now. Bird, Magic, and Jordan never left, but neither did Duncan, Robinson, Kobe, Pierce, Nowitzki, or Wade (basically). It's certainly notable that the best player (Lebron) moved. But as pointed out previously, so did Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabar, and Robertson. Edit: and really, the "stability" of the Lakers and Celtics wouldn't have been possible without Parish, Walton, and Dennis Johnson moving to the Celtics, and Abdul-Jabbar moving to the Lakers. The Bulls were the only team that really had their top 2 together for the long haul, and even Pippen eventually left while he still had gas in the tank.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Purely a fancy, but I was thinking: what if OKC is terrified about losing Westbrook? Maybe they would like to trade his last year for an all-star who is under contract for the next 4 years? How bout a 1-3 of Westbrook, Kyrie, Lebron? Prolly doesn't make sense but...

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Most of the houses on those fields weren't actually torn down until the mid-90s, including at least one set of row homes. They were torn down specifically to provide practice athletic fields for the school. Ignatius used to have carte blanche to do what they wanted, demo-wise. A LOT came down in that period.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Went down to the square tonight. I was blown away. Surprised at how much lower it sits in relation to the surrounding buildings. Feels very urban and borderline European.

What are you watching?
Oh man, I loved Spartacus! Totally underrated. I think it got ignored because of how hyper-violent it was. Agree with everybody else for the most part: The Wire and Mad Men are at the top of the heap for me. I'll throw one more out there even tho it's a comedy: Peep Show.
