  1. I would argue enervate was the correct word for this development
  2. Not to speak for @X, but I think his point is that public spaces don’t create their own demand. We have countless public spaces downtown that are already virtually unused. US Bank Plaza itself is basically abandoned. I would expect that pedestrianizing more space directly adjacent to it would do nothing but close more roads to traffic. Why not concentrate on programming US Bank Plaza, Perk Park, or Clapp Plaza, which are all within 500 feet of the proposal?
  3. There is a retail thread that can easily be ruined with City Target talk if you guys wanna take it there
  4. There is this interactive map that somebody posted forever ago too that has a good visualization of loss/gain with detailed data by tract https://data.indystar.com/census/total-population/total-population-change/cuyahoga_county_ohio/050-39035/#cmap
  5. Good stuff! I’m guessing “east side” includes downtown? In that case not surprising east would out-pace west as downtown and UC are the only neighborhoods that have shown significant growth.
  6. Learning a lot about developments in Ohio City today
  7. Agree. Consolidate the buildings and green space into two separate areas.
  8. Counterpoint: they have gutted dozens of acres of dense urban fabric and replaced it with grass and asphalt
  9. It’s an awesome building they should commended for saving it
  10. Didn’t the station just sell for like $2 million? Did Twenty Lake make $7 million of improvements?
  11. Pretty big get for Crobar, Hercules and Love Affair, April 27 https://www.instagram.com/p/C5RzmDlprLrPzN_W8pg7jr4UNRXN_0eiprjzOg0/?igsh=bjZtdWxtMnFzeGVr
  12. Could the city unilaterally decide that the Browns’ lease will not be renewed? Or do the Haslams have endless options on their lease?
  13. Agree with everything. But they have unimaginable wealth, so we will have to watch powerlessly as they build a stadium almost nobody wants, and we’ll pay $1 billion + for the privilege.
  14. All of this assumes the Haslams are acting in good faith, which, lol
  15. New expensive housing was being built on the bluffs at least a decade before Metroparks took over management of Edgewater. The improvements to the park weren’t complete until 2017. The park is a lot nicer though.
  16. That is the current building on the lot in the picture. It’s a cool building, would be a shame to see another 4x4 go.
  17. Probably 14 other threads where this could be discussed
  18. Why are they still doing trash collection when there are empty lots to develop???
  19. bumsquare replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
I was at the game, unbelievable atmosphere
  20. I really like Houston. Great food, underrated housing stock, and high quality cultural amenities on par with older east coast/midwest cities. I lived in Austin for 3 years but always preferred Houston. If they could just move it out of the bayou….
  21. The sin tax is a county-wide tax not a city tax. I doubt the city itself is offering $300 million.
  22. I can’t imagine the owners signed off on this.
  23. It’s adjacent to Rice University. Not too dissimilar to University Circle but with all of the residential still in tact. I’m pretty sure there were some protests over this building, since it’s surrounded by large mansions.
  24. How have we benefited from the Haslams being in Cleveland? They might (if we give them one billion dollars) build an apartment building? This attitude that we have to placate them so they don’t “leave” us is pure boot licking mentality
  25. I would pay $100 of my own money (I know it’s a lot) for the Haslams to lose interest in Cleveland. The line of thinking, that we can’t afford not to roll over for these absolute parasites, is noxious. I guarantee we regret any deal made with the Haslams before the ink is dry.
