Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
I don't think I really understand how decreasing the volume of the transportation networks that pass through the square will increase its utility. Maybe more traffic calming measures would make it more pleasant, but I think the vehicle and public transportation activity keep the square fairly active. Some residential or office development to the west would be the most helpful in increasing the square's utility, but that's a subject for another time....

Buffalo, New York (Winter 2011) Phototour: Downtown, City Hall, and more: Part 1
Buffalo is a strange one. I happened to be there New Year's Eve also on my way to Niagara Falls. More impressive buildings in the downtown area and in the Elmwood area than cities that are similar or larger (our 3 c's included) but seems much emptier (Elmwood Village excluded). Worth a visit just to gawk at the architecture.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
I think 327 is referring to the new construction loft building that was proposed for the northeast side of Battery Park.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
I think that that makes Cleveland a horrible sports Mecca. It also has more BW3s than the rest of the state combined.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
I'll reiterate. There is virtually no difference in the size of the gay populations in Cleveland and Columbus. Columbus has a higher percentage, but compared to the rest of the nation it's nothing you would call a "Mecca". The metro is 11th by percentage, just behind the gay Mecca of Hartford Connecticut. The city itself is 18th by percentage, just behind the Mecca of Rochester New York.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
There are at least six gay bars on Detroit alone. Here: Bounce, The Hawk, Tool Shed, Cocktails, The Crossover, and Club Cleveland. I don't think that Cleveland or Columbus qualify as any kind of gay "mecca". Unless you define Mecca as "anywhere that two people with the same interests are". Or, "anywhere where there's a Muslim and a prayer mat." Neither shows up in the top ten by population or percentage in the American Community Survey.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I think $166 per sq. ft. would work if you were building a Radio Shack or a fairly nice house.

Cleveland: Random Discussions
The Blue Line was in place, but the Red Line was put in service after the streetcars were gone. And despite not being a beacon for development, the Red Line has a much higher ridership.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
I believe this is significantly southwest of Detroit-shoreway in westtown, south of Lorain.

Also, more jobs in Minneapolis than Detroit? And I can't believe how big Seattle is.

Cleveland area: Who remembers when...
I remember being in sixth grade and taking cigars and a cooler filled with pop and hot dogs into the old Stadium.

Cleveland: Best Happy Hours/Nightly Specials
Pretty much every restaurant in Ohio City and Tremont has an awesome happy hour. I'll second LAva Lounge and add Lolita, Momocho, and the Petit Triangle(very underrated in my opinion).

Best Movies Ever Made?
I think that there is a campy factor in the original "Star Wars" that makes Mark Hammel's performances less offensive. The later ones take themselves too seriously and subsequently make HC's performances stick out like very sore thumbs.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I lived in Tremont for five years up until last month and never heard much about B&E (excepth for the one horrible one this summer). You would definitely see broken glass from cars after a weekend night, although we parked on the street for all five of those years and never had any problems.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I grew up liking the sloppy, thick-crusted pizzas of Old Brooklyn and the south suburbs, so I have to give a shout-out to Dina's. Sometimes competent and comforting beat gourmet and well-executed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I think those are pretty small jpegs or something, because when you click on the "view full size" the picture becomes smaller. I think that's making it pixilated and out of focus.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
So a computer comparable to a macbook pro would be only $200? After getting my mac its hard to use a PC. Macs run so much smoother and dont have weird crashes and jams. Everything has been really good since i've got it. My bust. I guess it's closer to $750 bucks less. I've got a newish Gateway laptop with a 2.4 Ghz processor, 500 gigs of hard drive, and 4 gigs of RAM and it cost $450. I download lots of stuff to it, run difficult programs (Protools), and generally abuse it. I have absolutely no complaints. My wife has a Macbook and the only real difference I can tell is that her desktop icons look a bit more sleek.
