Sunrise this past weekend at the Lakefront Nature Preserve
  2. It’s not only impossible to see the changes decades down the road, but also basically impossible to implement the solutions. We seem to take it for granted that cities can “do” things to avoid perceived economic hardship. Austin is good at this, Cleveland fails here, etc. As if a city can bootstrap itself into prosperity.
  3. The re-do of the park never made any sense to me. It turned a well-shaded and much used park into a space that’s almost unusable in the summer. Maybe the city hadn’t funneled its quota of cash to LAND Studio yet that year? (Jk-ish)
  4. Fixing what Larkin suggests would be a drop in the bucket compared to the enormous global economic forces at play for the past 100 years. Such facile thinking to posit that the main difference in the post-industrial economies of Columbus and Cleveland is a lack of civic gumption. Maybe we could go back in time 100 years and found the state’s biggest university here instead of Columbus? Buy stock in Apple instead of building blast furnaces? Eradicate institutional racism?

  6. I could be mistaken but I believe the income limits are set at the metro level https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/il/il2023/2023summary.odn?inputname=METRO17460M17460*Cleveland-Elyria%2C+OH+MSA&wherefrom=%24wherefrom%24&selection_type=hmfa&year=2023
  7. I think we get B&O terminal (with tower) and a distant Sheriff Street Market in that shot
  8. I guess but where are the Browns going?

    Haha I am also 45
  10. Very cool state to live in
  11. Tickets for Marquee Ribbon are impossible to get. Also glad to see they’re finally hosting the stage production of Blade
  12. Pretty stunning lack of imagination, even for Cleveland. I’ve been in that building, there were at least a few live work spaces and artist studios. I can’t imagine owning something like that and deciding to demo. Pretty depressing!
  13. lol I wanted to say the same thing but didn’t want to be a Debbie downer. Glad that space is getting activated with a busy chain that I will never go to
  14. That’s the most Clevelandish anyone has ever sounded
  15. There are clearly multiple midrise apartment buildings on the exact same street. Why would you all assume a denser plan was rejected here?
  16. Agree totally. Availability of information can warp perspective. Twitter is (was?) a hell of a drug
  17. Certainly USA Today 10 Best has their finger on the pulse of civic mismanagement issues at the West Side Market. How can the West Side Market compete with places like Budd Dairy that have upwards of 8 vendors and venerable food purveyors like Cluck Norris? IMHO Bibb should resign from office until the market can be put back in the good graces of the esteemed editorial board at USA Today 10 Best. This is a dark day for the West Side Market and indeed the entire 7 county Combined Statistical Area.

Yeah it was November and there were a lot of dramatic skies. My iPhone was doing some interesting stuff when I adjusted the focus/lighting too so maybe a bit of cheating especially on the night shots. But the saturated blues are all Italy
