  1. Man, i can't imagine what my life was like before i was a premium member. I was just drifting along and not accomplishing anything. But since then? wow. I'm being accepted at all the new hot spots, i've grown 6 inches taller, women are noticing me more and i got a huge raise! Thanks, Urban Ohio!
  2. Make sure to pay attention to your sand paper and switch it often. It can quickly fill up with the old junk.
  3. I'm not particularly familiar with UC's demographic trends, but don't a majority of the students commute from their parents' homes? I know there is a sizeable population in Clifton and they'd probably be able to vote. Any get out the vote campaign would be good. Probably a lot of them are registered after last November's election.

Whew...my ears are burning...what's going on guys?
  5. Sounds like a Prod name to me. back on topic...do the people you talk to show concern about Issue 9 down here affecting 3C? (while i think Issue 9 is dangerously written, i'm curious if some of the hype is a little overblown or if it could in fact screw up stuff like 3C)
  6. No offense intended, obviously just ignorance. It's an unusual name.
  7. I hope there are just two sets of windows and the people have to look at each other...that'd be awesome.
  8. I wonder if Ken Prendergast is related to Enquirer writer Jane Prendergast...(i'm assuming so).

i think it's a huge breakthrough...it is a step in the right direction and puts us leaps and bounds beyond where we have been. Obviously it's not an end stage product yet...more testing and all that to make sure that it really works...but if it really does reduce infection by 30% that will save a lot of lives...particularly in Africa and in our own black community.
  10. some of us feel anonymity is the best course of action for various reasons...be they work or social pressures...so, i'll happily (and anonymously) support the efforts of CFP and others fighting for what i believe is right. As far as using the interstates...i commute from PR to downtown every day using I-71 and so do quite a few people. Billboards might be more effective than some may think.

I will probably get it, but i haven't rushed out to get one yet. Some years i've gotten one, some not...mostly based on if my employer is giving them away for free and if i'm there that day. Swine flu is something that my wife is more concerned with. I have some issues with my immune system, although nothing severe, so i'll probably ask my doctor about a vaccine for that...or maybe just get it if it's readily available.
  12. I hardly think that if i choose to not do business with a company because of their public opinion on political matters that it is going to hurt the city or even enforce a partisan agenda. After all, i am not calling for a boycott, i'm just expressing my opinion as an individual. Besides, it is my view that the stance being taken by this company, in particular, is going to hurt this city in the long run.
  13. I agree. For whatever reason, it's tough to dispell the notion that money marked for one purpose isn't able to pay for something else. For the greater good: Does anyone know if i am imagining things when i believe i saw something on a streetcar website talking about yard signs? and maybe it said something about: contact us here if you want one...that sort of thing?
  14. ^Are people coming from Chicago and New York going to want the kind of civic involvement that is present here? i mean, sure there are plenty of clean up the neighborhood type stuff and lots of neighborhood pride...but, having just moved here in 2007 i've found the tone of involvement here to be rather jarring. Maybe it's just the political landscape that currently exists here in the country, but there is a lot of anger down here.
  15. I could, i tend not to scold others for their political beliefs, though...(except on forums...i like to do it there). I think Acme had stickers supporting the NRA and McCain/Palin. That's fine...i just won't do business with them.
  16. regardless of whether or not i agree with a company's take on an issue, i don't think that it's good business practice to display a stance. Now i know that i won't work with them...or with Acme Locks because of bumper stickers on their trucks. Anyway, i wasn't sure if that was Bond Hill or St. Bernard where 75 and the Lateral come together. Now i know, thanks!
  17. I've seen that sign...they also have a Brad Wenstrup sign up. I think it's that rock/stone place. I'm not an advocate of businesses expressing their political views. It makes me not want to do business with them. Also, are they even in the City?
  18. Michigan Central Station was built with the idea that Downtown was going to be moving in that direction. Corktown was envisioned as the new center of the city. It didn't pan out. The biggest difference between all the other cities that have been mentioned is that they have light rail/subway infrastructure already in place. Cabs? okay, that's fine...and Union Terminal certainly isn't half an hour from downtown as i think someone inferred. My only worry here is that Cincinnati is not nearly forward thinking enough to allow this to happen. I am afraid that 3C will go through, the trains will come to CUT and then that's going to be it for our rail infrastructure because people here don't look past next week and without an instant bloom in redevelopment they'll go into "told you so" mode. Since moving down here, i've grown more pessimistic.
  19. Seems those volunteers got more than they bargained for: Asbestos Found at the Train Station Reported by: Heather Catallo DETROIT (WXYZ) - They just wanted to clean up a Detroit landmark. But what some local high school students didn’t count on was putting their health at risk while they were trying to help.
  20. I like the new site, i was a little confused by the "support" tab...i would have expected to learn about ways of supporting the plan, rather than a list of people that are supporting it. I'll assume that some of the links under volunteer just aren't live yet...that is, they don't currently have anything behind them by design.
  21. my only concern with CUT is the distance from downtown if there is no complimentary streetcar/light rail.
  22. I think Detroit's Michigan Central has been granted a reprieve for the moment (thank god). I think the plan is still to move the permanent station over to Union Terminal.
  23. Michigan State recently announced that they would play 4 games with each of those schools between now and 2020 i think...each four game series will be broken up as 3 home games for MSU and one away game. Recently Western Michigan has been playing one game a year in Ford Field in Detroit, so they may move that WMU/MSU game over there. UofM has no such agreement. They do schedule Eastern Michigan (the weakest of the three) quite often. Not sure if that's a formal agreement or not.
  24. I just want rail travel between Detroit and Cincinnati. Seems like it would be an easy corridor to slide along I-75 all the way to Florida. I want this for the purely selfish reason of being able to hop on and go back home for weekends more easily than driving.
  25. Lunken temporary site for 3-C station By Barry M. Horstman • [email protected] • September 22, 2009 Reacting to strong opposition to a proposed rail station on the riverfront near downtown, Ohio officials have opted instead for a Lunken Airport site to serve the so-called 3-C passenger line linking Cincinnati to Columbus and Cleveland. Link Personally, i don't like this idea...Lunken is too far out from the city center for use as a rail stop. If it does become part of the eastern corridor route, i could more easily understand it. I still think that a stop along the river is the best place for rail transit (rather than Union Terminal which seems to be the latest decision).
