Since being transplanted to Cincy I've had a few pet peeves come to the forefront: 1) "Please" instead of "Excuse me?" 2) Adding the letter R to words that don't have it. Example: Worshington 3) People that blow red lights. Okay, this was already a pet peeve, but it's so much worse now.
  2. I've lived in PR for about a year and just discovered Ridgewood the other day. It looks like a really nice neighborhood.
  3. Is this what is going in right next to the circuit city right now? I've been watching this building go up but there doesn't seem to be any info on what is going in there.

There are goods and bads about internet dating. Goods: you can be fairly sure that you guys share some common interests; which is a lot more than when you walk up to someone at a bar. Bads: people could always be lying about that stuff. But, at least you can quiz a person a little bit over email or even on the phone if that's your thing. worse: i've heard stories about people getting STDs from people they met on match.com...but there's nothing stopping you from getting one from someone you met in a bar if you don't take precautions. I've never tried any of those sites, but i know a lot of people are. More and more of my friends have mentioned them.
  5. Yeah, i think that the Kennedy Connector needs to go through to help ease the traffic on Ridge. It's getting to be really bad especially with new construction being planned at the former Kmart location and the new Aldi. I don't know why anyone would prioritize the streetscaping in Mt. Lookout over some of these other projects. It's true that there isn't a lot of parking but it works for now.
  6. I don't feel like those behind this push have really argued their case all that well. First, people are being told that it's confusing and then when asked to explain, the advocates of this method just say that you rank your choices 1-9. Okay, but how does it work where you don't get your first choice but it slides down to your second? I think the people in favor of proportional representation have done a terrible job of explaining it. If it's as easy as suggested, then it should be easy to explain.
  7. I figure Detroit gets beat up enough and i usually ignore it. Sometimes nerves can get pretty raw. That said, i'll also go to bat for Cincy now that it's my town and i hear the same criticisms coming from people that dare not venture inside the city limits.
  8. Detroit is completely oblivious to how scary and off-putting it is. Returning from Toronto one time, the first three billboards I passed coming up I-75 said "Who's the Daddy?" "Desperate times" and "Tops in crash tests." F'real. What's funny is that people on this forum say "i can't believe how stupid these sub/exurbanites are when they haven't been downtown in years" and then say things about how bad Detroit is without spending significant time there. as a former Detroiter that finds himself in Ohio, this is really annoying. It's even more annoying when you hear it from people that complain about this behavior in others.
