  1. I love staying up late. It's something my dad always did when i was growing up. He'd be up until 3 am and then at work around 8. I stay up later than i should (midnight) and get up between 5:30 and 6. He'd take a fifteen minute nap and be totally refreshed, but i can't do that. My ideal job would start around 11am and go until 7 pm. Then i could still get a decent dinner and stay up all night. It's so much easier to get things done at night.
  2. It's got a lot of interesting story lines. The fact that two out of MSU's last 4 coaches is on the Alabama staff and MSU getting snubbed will hopefully motivate the team. I have faith in Dantonio getting the team ready and up for the game. Alabama is a great 3 loss team and would have been in the title game if it weren't for a number of injuries. With a month to heal, both teams won't have any excuse for not performing.
  3. I'd say you should give it a little while. There are myriad reasons to be pessimistic right now about the city. But, things will get better and having good people that care about it leave...doesn't help. I would understand if you left, but i hope you will stay.
  4. Logos...awful. Division names...awful. Trophy names...awful. Over all, the Big Ten failed terribly with this. I think getting Nebraska was a huge deal and then not using any of their history in naming the trophies is pretty ridiculous. (oh, and i think the MSU/Bama match up is the best one outside of Auburn/Oregon)
  5. If you have any questions about whether you should stay in Cincinnati...just watch one of the council budget meetings that are on TV.

you still did a hell of a lot better than most people...and agnostics and atheists were among the top scorers. I guess when people are born into a faith they don't feel the need to explore others or something...and obviously i'm not saying that about anyone on here...just trying to explain the scores. I'm actually surprised at how many Catholics don't understand transubstantiation.

Sure, he's playing on the populist anger at "out of control spending" in the most cynical of ways. it's just disgusting. That said, i guess we should plan on not having rail any time soon.

15/15...but the last was luck. I want to know who the people are that they get to take these tests...for the most part, i have a hard time believing that they exist...and then i look at my coworkers and i realize...nope...these people outnumber me 10 to 1.

I've been doing my best to ignore politics this time around because it's been so infuriating...but, i read this...and, it's just too bad that these blatant lies go unchallenged. That money won't be saved at all. I wish some news source would have the balls to tell people about this BS.
  10. well, technically, that's the east side of Detroit. What you see there is Alter Road and just like 8 mile is more than a figurative boundary, Alter doesn't have a lot of through streets. As you drive across that border the change is almost as stark as that map would imply. It's quite amazing. (and don't forget the e's on Grosse Pointe :-P)

Huh, you can finally see my house. The previous picture still had the giant tree that used to be in the front yard (gone by the time we bought it). Now you can actually see the house. Unfortunately the street view is from before we had the house painted this summer. Man, was it ugly. I hope they don't update Lansing, MI...i like that i can see my car at my old job up there. i think those pictures were from 2006.

I guess he was a radio DJ until recently in Akron...he may be suspended from his new job soon...just wondering if there was any back story on him.

Batman, Green Lantern, Nightwing, The Authority, I've started reading JSA recently. I'm pretty new to comics...always had a fascination but never knew how to get into it. Now i've been reading and collecting some for the last couple years...starting with the Dark Tower series and then into the Battle for the Cowl and Blackest Night... Just got the first book of the Alan Moore Swamp Thing. I also really like the stuff by Ed Brubaker and Warren Ellis...those guys are awesome.

Hey NE Ohioans...whadd'ya know about Matt Patrick?

I'm not saying anything about plagiarism. they have every right to use the AP...i think they're part of it, right? that's how it works? you're part of the AP or Reuters? that sort of thing? anyway, advertising on the website: fine...disguising advertising as "news"...not okay. The blog post from Building Cincinnati that today was disguised as a news story is unacceptable...not because of the content of the post, but because of the context. I can't condemn them for doing it once unless i condemn them for doing it always.

Have you looked at the enquirer lately? most of the paper is from the AP. If the Enquirer wants to trick people into clicking on ads then they have no business claiming to be a news source. They lose credibility and any pretense of independence.

profit does not = credibility. I don't care if they put this stuff in a clearly marked advertising section. Unfortunately, on their website they will include these links without any demarcation and in the same list as all other stories. There isn't anything to indicate that they don't go to a story within the newspaper's website. I try not to go there, but the quality of news isn't much better at any of the other news sources. by the way, i'm not sure that Gannett is posting high profits because of their quality...besides, the last 3 years have been horrible to newspapers leading to layoffs, forced furloughs etc. I'd question whether or not the profits are true profits or a result of write offs and acquisitions.

I haven't said anything about their political stance, other than the editorial page their views don't really come into it. My issue is that they are no longer providing news if they link to some of that crap. News is not a forum post where uninformed people are spewing garbage. News is not linking to a homeopathic clinic that scams people out of their money and advocates dangerous procedures. Just because people do these things, doesn't mean that there is any fact or anything that should be reported in the newspaper. By linking to these places, it lends credibility to them and helps promote. I don't accept that.

For God's sake, could the newspaper stick to the news? I hate the enquirer as it is...but now they are putting links to blogs and advertising in with their news content. Today they've got a link to Building Cincinnati...and while i have no objection to the content of the blog and make no assertions about the quality of the info contained therein, the newspaper shouldn't be putting it in with the rest of their news. They've got links to mommy forums and homeopathic quack medicine among other things...all in their "news" section on the website. Eff them, i hate that they're the source of news around here.

We've got tons of tech all around, all the time. TV, DVD player, PS3, PS2, Wii, SNES, NES, surround sound stereo system, a separate home audio system for music (receiver, dual cassette, 25 disc changer, record player), hundreds of cds, probably over a hundred DVDs (regular and Blu-ray...mostly regular), two desktops, a laptop, house phone, alarm clocks, etc. Yep, we've both got smartphones, too. I've still got a discman i bought off a buddy of mine in 2001 when he got a mini-disc player. Of course, we're not living in an apartment in Chicago with nowhere to put anything.

if you read that website that Ram23 posted, you'll see why some people hate them. I actually don't have that much anger towards...well, anyone...but, i do dislike the general attitude of hipsters (at their worst). The website shows a large amount of anger at the way that hipsters are moving into that guys South Brooklyn neighborhood and using Daddy's money to drive out long term residents. That's a pretty specific and small group of them, over all...but, still the anger is easy to empathize with. I really hate that hipsters are making awesome facial hair into a joke among normal people.

i want to tear off their moustaches. they're not ironic anymore. Also, i want to grab their PBR and tell them to eff off and they can drink a working man's beer when they actually do some work.

My dad got a palm pre and will always get a palm because he's been using them now since they first came out and he'd go ape**** if he ever lost that format and lost his data. I love my G1 (android). I can't stand the touch screen only like with the iPhone or some of the other smartphones. I like having an actual qwerty keyboard. I think i'll replace this with the G1 Blaze when that comes out next year (i think it's next year).

how easy is it to change your vote...it seems like this thread would be one where people would need to change it more than any other poll. I mean, there should be at least a 50% shift from married to divorced if statistics hold up, right?
