St. Louis: Developments and News
^Stonebridge people own the viaduct, they want to put a trolley on it. Its really in their hands what they can do with it. We should look at other possibilities in cleveland. Central viaduct is nothing more than a stump, and will soon be eliminated entirely by odot. Rail that crosses at euclid and e 55th is a thought, but thats still active.

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
"That's because state policy also requires clerks at state license offices to tell people the consequence of not displaying the number: that if they have the number removed, they will have to bring their Social Security card the next time they renew their licenses." And that is why people put their SS# on there in the first place. So they dont have to deal with all the BS in renewing their driver licenses.

Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Ive actually expiernced much more exteme curves on the interstate, than dead mans curve. The interchange of 79 and 70 in west virginia. I think it is refered to a trumpet style interchange. Anyways the speed limit down there is 70 mph, and as you approach this interchange, it is going down a mountain. The closer you get, the speed limit cuts down to 25 mph (while still going down a mountain), it loops around and under itself so you make a left. Lots of accidents and backups happen there. The jersey barriers are higher than the semi-trailers.

The Detroit-Shoreway Housing Photo Thread

East or West Side of Cleveland
On the 90/2 interchane just on the border of lake county and Cuyahoga county, going 90 east, there actualy is a highway sign that refers to "eastern suburbs". I think it says Highland Hts. Mayfield, Mayfield Hts. So, eastside can be "officialy" that far. I like to think of it as far as either the streets are numbered can be considered east side/west side. On east side that is E 367 st all the way out in willoughby (concidentialy where euclid ave ends). On the west side at W 232 in North Olmstead (i think its the end correct me if im wrong) Another easy split would be westlake furthest point west, and eastlake furthest point east

East or West Side of Cleveland
This is not to ment to be inflamatory in any way, but merely a statement of the way it is. -East Side- Predominatly Black Seemingly Higher Crime Rate The Rich Heights Gets alot of marks for "quality" suburbs eastlake and its (slovenian) painsville and its (mexicans) snowbelt legacy village desolation, lack of rejuvination ethnic enclaves -West Side- Predominatly White Seemingly Lower Crime Rate Lakewood "college town feel" parma and its (polish?) no snow crocker park Rejuvination, new buildings, and revitalization I choose east side, because I am an east sider for life

Cleveland Traffic Cameras
Context of road design dictates speed, rather than an abritraty speed limit. Build a road wide, barren, and lack of acticity at its edges, it is a visual suggestion to go fast. Build a road narrow and crap going on everywhere people will slow down.

Origins of city names in Ohio
The name Mentor originated in Greek literature — Mentor was the tutor of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus. Other place names in the Western Reserve, including Solon, Euclid and Macedonia, were also inspired by the early Americans' fascination with the ancient world.

Land-use ruling may decide fate of wetlands
I was watching a PBS special about katrina and it blames wetland loss for a factor that contributed to the intensity of the destruction. The wetlands used to be much larger, and acted as an absorbtion buffer to the storms.

Cleveland: Saint Luke's Pointe
Looks like a well thought out, solid, contextualy correct, infill. The site plan does a good job of repairing street grid. It appears (going by site plan) to be a good example to show other developers to work lare project infill, without turning their backside to whats allready there.
