  1. X flight was the only roller coaster worth riding there, maybe superman, and big dipper for nostalgic reasons.
  2. Should have went taller, CSU needs more brutalistic structures on campus. More brutal middle fingers to the sky I say.
  3. Doan isnt going anywhere, CSU wants to keep it around as an as yet to be determined incubator type of building, dorm, or your rumor ^^. Equipment is probably for the mainclassroom renvoation, as it has the closest crappy parking lot (really can't ruin it anymore) to the site.

If they dont put it in nearby cleveland downtown-ish, why not put it in downtown Akron?? Or am I making to much sense to myself?
  5. Oh really? I was under the impression it was a shell as in no nice finishings, just some walls, no flooring, rough plumbing and electrical.
  6. When I think urban I think cleveland state. xavier seems as urban as akron's campus.
  7. Lofts dont have so many walls :( Nice yes, views yes, affordable yes, lofts no.
  8. 30's on the turn around, the rest of eastside outside little italy area not so much.
  9. I was thinking about the location of this place, it could also be facing a push by CSU/RTA/Building owners to get out. I remember on some renderings awhile back (and maybe its still there), that there were plans to raze that building to put a pedestrian corridor through there to "link up" with the transit center next to the convocation center

Allthough I dont quite understand how that building is supposed to work with the bus loop and pedestrian corridor. I like that rendering, anything that gets rid of boondangle intersections is a good thing.
  11. ^ It was plankton, and it was expired according to the mexican food council.
  12. Stonebridge is cool and all, I would like to live there if I could. But more and more it seems like living in a fish bowl.
  13. Quay55 had plans for the land right next to it, I think that has all but crapped out. Waterfront line extention to there is planned for the next of never. I conceptually like the tower Idea, but the whole area around there is disfunctional. Probably nothing short of razing most everything around there will be able to fix the poorly planned mess. None of the uses/buildings currently there are cohesive enough to start a neighborhood. Keep the tower for sake of arguement, then put a major east/west road up to the rear (south) side of building that parralels the train tracks. Wedge industry on the south side of the road (inbetween train tracks and new road). Create new major north/south road off south marginal near the coal piles (perhaps figure out way to connect it to addison rd). Micro-grid and mix use buildings to fill in the area.
  14. I was looking at it in more detail, and I understand these are just massings but.... There is an open pit fronting Euclid Ave, and that is a terrible idea. A vast concrete plaza with an open pit is what is allready inside the rhodes tower/main classroom/UC area, and that was a bad mistake. Its wedged inbetween the tall tower and semi-floating part.
  15. The vertical box is aproximately next to where the Corlett building is. The floating box is where that small surface lot next to the Corlett building is. So most of this is where the C.orlett building is located. This could pose a problem, as a I recall the Corlett building is considered a historic building. But this particular structure is withing the master plan otherwise. From the master plan guidelines Historic buildings at Cleveland State add architectural diversity to the campus and provide a tangible link to the City’s past. The reuse of buildings also reduces environmental impacts of demolition and new construction. Wherever feasible, the University will preserve historic buildings, either for University uses or private sector redevelopment. The CORLETT BUILDING at 1935 Euclid Avenue has two reasonably intact historic facades--the front (south) facade and the east facade. The building was acquired by Cleveland State in 1973 and is currently leased to the Cleveland Board of Education as classroom swing space for high school students during the renovation of the City’s school buildings. Relocating the ART GALLERY and THEATRE BUILDING (currently at Chester Avenue and East 23rd Street) to Euclid Avenue would increase its visibility and provide a better link to the cultural attractions at Playhouse Square. Extensive recent improvements to the gallery, however, may preclude the relocation of this facility for the foreseeable future. If the gallery/theatre complex remains in its current location, a 5,000 square foot entry addition to the eastern side of the building will increase the physical presence of this facility and make it more welcoming to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. A sculpture court adjacent to the gallery will also enhance its outward appeal and strengthen its value as an amenity for the proposed residential neighborhood north of Chester Avenue.
  16. The one thing that a homeowners association cannot regulate are the placement of the satalite dishes. I recall reading some news article about some man having one in his yard, HOA said no, put liens on property. Man takes it to court, wins. ~a bit vague on details exactly~ But it came down to that only FCC could regulate the placement and positioning of said dishes,
  17. I hated the cleveland flood that came along a month later. I currently work for the city of mentor, and I had to deal with all the morons during and after the waters. It took me a 30 min, for what is a 10 min drive to get to the city garage. Roads flooded everywhere. Treading water with my car, as water is almost splashing onto my hood, luckily my car never died out. Water was trapped in my headlights untill sometime in septermber. Then I had to go around directing traffic to prevent morons flooding their cars and getting stranded. But still morons would just go around my city truck and in their SUV's and trucks tread on through. Then realising about halfway through they are fucked and have to go back around becaue of the volume of flooding. Fish were swimming in the streets everywhere and people would get flooded to their cars roof, and in some spots in the city flooded to their second story. Alot of my neighbors basments got flooded with the exception of the people on either side of us. Our yards are lower than everyone elses on the street, which I know is due to people illegaly re-grading their yards long before we moved into the neighborhood. A couple of years ago to correct an ongoing problem with flooding in our yards, the city came through with a drainage assistance progam for the whole street. It was a flat fee, that got effectively cheaper with each house that signed on. Everyone but the 2 neighbors beside us were cheap bastards and didnt opt in to get it done (they get minor flood spots in rain normaly). Everyone else but our 3 houses had flooded basements. Their dammages were greater than the fraction of the cost for the drainage assistance. I felt pretty vindicated :) Anyways back to the story. After the flooding had come and gone, literaly for 1 week straigt of 10 hour days of just hauling crap off peoples tree lawns. Then the following week of 8 hour days of hauling crap off peoples tree lawns. Also monitoring side streets, woods, and city property for illegal dumping, which there was alot of despite the fact if they left it out the city would have gotten it. All of it stank like urine soaked stagnat water. Upside was we finds we keeps :). People threw out all sorts of stuff that could be kept really. Friend of mine got 15 metal beer signs for bars. Some people got stacks of vynl records and dvds. I got a bunch of sets of not so good golf clubs (that I later threw out because I really dont like golf) and a 55 gallon fish tank.
  18. Yeah I was in the CSU special collections library before also. Some of its microfiche, some of its just old newspaper. They really need to do something about the old paper ones, I accidentialy tore up some of the paper ones.
  19. ^Thats one of the ugliest buildings in the city. I dont like the ameritrust building, but that one is much worse.
  20. Reminds me something like the greenhouse at the botanical gardens in cleveland
  21. How about failed courthouse tower, the thing that was going to be a condo or hotel or whatever. That would be a nice spot to hem some type of tower there. Close to rta stops close to justice center, and I honestly dont think that old tower will ressurect
  22. My thoughts... If we get a huge 500 ft office building and it causes a glut of A space, and people shuffle around. B office space tennats, can get a cheap deal on A space at a B price, inturn B space becomes vacant and maybe some borderline A class space. These B/borderline A spaces become primed for conversion into residential. I can see some buildings around E 6th & superior, prospect, bolivar, E 12th, kinda all over actually that would almost seem better suited for a mid sized residential conversion.
  23. Slap that thing right up on that lawn area around the busines college that would be a sweet wayfinding spot along the euclid corridor

Part that makes this so great is that its so intact, its just a little bit smaller than the warehouse district. Its a matter of gutting cleaning and adding all those little balconies.
