Cleveland: The Houses of Glenville
Wow! Huge, ornate homes mixed with older, classy apt. buildings--a great residential mix. I especially loved many of the ornate front window treatments in the homes; I can only imagine what these residences look like on the inside, especially during the holidays. Thank you for some great pictures!

Buffalo, New York
Loved these photos--even though I've never been to Buffalo, I would certainly wish to experience its unique architecture and downtown. One thing troubles me, however, about the photos (and my naivete here may be evident)--but where IS the street life? Perhaps the photos were all taken on a Sunday morning, etc., but the city seems almost deserted. What gives?

Cleveland East-South-West - Three new train stations
Very enjoyable and impressive photos, KJP! These pics reaffirm that Cleveland IS the undisputed leader in Ohio public-transportation. Your city's extensive and interconnected rail/bus routes offer lessons enough to the other "two C's"--but nobody seems to be learning anything. Very sad...

Southwest Minneapolis/Uptown: Lyndale Ave South, West Lake St & Hennepin Ave
Thanks, Keith, for sharing photos of a such a hip, urban commercial district--the sheer variety of intertwined small business & entertainment venues could be the envy of any large city. (For example, I think I counted three bike shops alone!) Another positive aspect would seem to be the area's "walkable-factor." (It must be pretty high.) Maybe you could give us your own impressions of such, in light of your recent walkable-factor discussions on the Columbus post. No matter what, this "district" (if one can label it that) is impressive--just wishing it were part of Cincinnati; it looks more extensive than Northside, the Gaslight District, and O'Bryonville combined. How do the new, trendy retail/entertainment areas of Columbus compare/contrast with it?

Co11Day Tours: Random Ohio
What's there NOT to like about this set of impressive photos?! Mount Vernon looks like a picturesque town while the Cleveland/lake shot portrays the majesty of its DT. And the residential developments in DT Columbus are both handsome and promising. (and only an Ebeneezer Scrooge wouldn't enjoy the new DT water-park splash areas) However, what I probably enjoyed most were the dramatic nighttime pictures of DT Dayton and the panoramic aerial pictures of the city--although I'm very familiar with the area, I learned a great deal through close scrutiny of the set. Thanks--a great job!

Williamsport, Pennsylvania
What a variety of handsome buildings! I hope that this city will be able to preserve and maintain such architectural wealth. Thank you for the tour!

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
My feelings mirror those of Natininja--although it would be a coup for DT Cincy to snare Omnicare, it's still a shame that NKY (especially immediately across the river) will have to take the hit. As already mentioned, better to snag Fortune 500 cookies from cities elsewhere rather than from our brothers & sisters in our own backyard. I also share several other aforementioned concerns: (1) as yet, there's no guarantee that Omnicare won't choose a suburban location, or (2) under Kasick's "job growth program," fly straight to DT...Columbus! Lastly, please don't brand me insensitive to the "human-issues" involved, but I do think the city missed a golden opportunity to erect a tall residential tower at the Lytle Park location; what a formidable presence such a structure would be adjacent to the Great American Tower!

Cincinnati: Oops...so I have these photos left over from winter....
Enjoyed your work, especially the photography of Vine St. No place like home; Cincinnati is unique!

TT observation deck
Love it when we get to "look down" on your beloved city like you did! Thank you for your sky-high peek at DT Cleveland!

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
^ An interesting observation, ProkNo5. I wonder how other OTR Kroger shoppers feel about such hand-carries. (other posts may already have addressed such issues; I'll check later.)

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
^Actually I'm an old-time resident WHO CAN'T WAIT to return to the Queen City after years of self-imposed exile (once job-related). Back in the 90's I was an AVID Metro patron who heavily relied on it; now I really want such TOD ideas as yours to succeed! Yet the term "TOD" means nothing to the majority of Cincy residents (both Metro & non-Metro riders) when it should mean a great deal! At present, Blue Line, your trips in and out of this new hub, and your subsequent thinking will prove very helpful. (BTW, my wife and I are moving from Franklin, OH. to Norwood on Oct 1, 2011--and we are both tremendously excited about "our homecoming"!)

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
^Do you utilize Metro yourself, Blue Line--at least any routes that intersect this new transit hub?

Thanks for the visual update, OC! Keep the photos coming!

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
Agreed, Cincinnati Kid. (^) What's been accomplished at UC/Uptown is exciting--and significant Chinese investments in Corryville just might take redevelopment to a new level. However, even though a Chinese investor wouldn't be obligated to stay in Cincinnati, I would hope that many of them would. Their combined presence here would greatly benefit everyone.

Rochester, Indiana - Seat of Fulton County
Enjoyed the look of this town! (I don't want to move there yet, but I'm thinkin' 'bout it, heh heh...) Thanks! :-)

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
subocincy replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentThe Forest View Gardens (now closed) was located on North Bend Rd., just NE of the junction with Western-Northern Blvd. In its heyday it was a much-loved "singing restaurant." The nearest thing to it today might be Vito's over in Ft. Thomas, Ky. (I'm not even sure if that singing restaurant is still operational...)

Tarrytown / Sleep Hallow Part 1
Totally agree with DJ Orion--this huge complex is both stately and beautiful. How is it described? Condos? Apts? Mixed use, etc? (Will the "average Joe" be able to afford something like this?) Next question (and a totally naive, but serious one from an outsider)--doesn't the mighty Hudson pose a danger to such a low lying complex? I'm confused. A much lesser river such as the Ohio would engulf this complex in a second!

Top 10 New York City Subway Stations by 2010 numbers
Simply amazing and mesmerizing, these videos! What is there not to love about the vast and complex NYC subway system? (Does anybody completely understand it? I don't know...) Thanks, Nexis4Jersey, for this combined tour; awaiting the rest!

Cincinnati: Sunset along the river, photographed from the bridge
Enjoyed your photos, Sherman, especially the time-lapse sequence centered on the the John A.Roebling Bridge. Your suggestions for change in operations of the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge need to find their way "upstairs" to the right people, and implemented ASAP.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
A good point, but then what to do? Build a really tall residential tower (35-40 floors, i.e. Charlotte or Austin) or what?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Total agreement! I stood aghast as I stared at today's Enquirer headline: "Hear ye, hear ye! The people's hero, The Masked Crusader & His Masked Men have rallied to make a glorious comeback..." Gawd, it was one of the most distorted and sickening headlines ever. For shame!

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
Thanks for the large, colorful, and detailed diagram of the new transit hub! Hopefully, this protected stopover will entice more and more people to park & ride. I just hope that the newly implemented #38X Route is a success (it is unusual in that it runs Mon-Fri /AM from Glenway Crossing to the Uptown hospitals & PM the reverse).

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
What an eye-opener about Smitherman, arguably Cincinnati's most outlandish political-opportunist. His ongoing buffoonery would be laughable under most circumstances, but not so in a city where his antics have elevated him to the position of power he has within the NAACP. He is a dangerous and destructive opponent of progress, and should be treated as such. Personally, I wish he would just go away, but he won't. Maybe he will "hear the call" of a bigger and better position in Columbus; then he can join that other notorious ex-Cincinnati firebrand, Alicia Reece.
