Concerning "hot Ohio housing markets," this fairly recent business news deserve a mention: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2015/01/14/growth-in-cincinnati-home-prices-dwarfs-other.html
  2. ^ Yes. CinDay is more like 3.2m.
  3. ^ Actually, it was during WWI that patriotic sentiment became so strong that citizens demanded the eradication of all things German, including OTR's street names.

Decent pixs, ink--but where are the people? :wtf: (looks like a "neutron-bomb" detonated over the town, leaving only its structural remains) :-(
  5. Interesting new post, but I'm afraid that many of us (at least from SW Ohio) know Peebles only because GE tests their jet-engines nearby, correct?
  6. ^ Your creative streetcar thinking here is appreciated and should remain the focus of the thread--however, your idea of a "University Tower" was actually proposed years ago in the form of a colossal 100+ story structure! Such an idea was the brainchild of some sort of reverend who hoped investors would buy into his grand plans. (If I'm not mistaken, the monumental tower would have become a super high-rise residence for senior-citizens!) Needless to say, both the reverend and his money-making schemes disappeared from the local news shortly afterwards.

  8. ^ A totally ridiculous survey; most of the Cincinnati suburbs named here don't even exist!
  9. ...from today's Enquirer: "Cincinnati among best cities for 'staycations'" http://wallethub.com/edu/best-cities-for-stayvations/4341

This town looks dead. Only four pedestrians--and two of those are barely visible. (pix #6, #9)
  11. These FDI ("Foreign Direct Investment") profiles are actually quite interesting, placing Cincinnati high amongst its Midwestern peer cities.
  12. ^ Any idea how many jobs both Cleveland and Columbus gained during this same time period?
  13. Congratulation on one wonderfully detailed photo thread--I would have never believed that Macon looked this good! (and also thanking "the Rebel")
  14. ^ ...my lips are sealed.
  15. So far, the only thing that's for certain is Cranley's ongoing destruction of progress in Cincinnati, including right here.
  16. ^ There's certainly a degree of "poetic justice" here--since not long ago Paycor (and some 500 jobs) moved from Queensgate to Norwood.
  17. ^ The city needs to recall a famous Shakespearean idiom: ("Discretion is the better part of valor") and apply it to this political situation, thus saving a lot of time, money, and grief...
  18. Thank's for the photographs! Having never been to Omaha myself, I have one naive question about the "Gene Leahy Mall" presented early on (where all the digging was). Is this a downtown canal or stream or what (?) and (if so) is it extensive enough to be transformed into Omaha's version of San Antonio's "River Walk"? Btw, I loved the pedestrian bridge and agree that one like it extending from Cincy's East End/Columbia Tusculum to Bellevue/Dayton, Ky. would be wonderful. (However, the expense of such a structure would probably be prohibitive.)
  19. ^ As horrific as this story is, let's not condemn all of CUF until other details are known. No one's more concerned than all of Cincinnati--exactly what happened to this 21-yr. old student?!
  20. No, sadly they don't. Instead of a dense, multi-use riverfront development, we're getting a waterfront Wetherby homearama meant for only the few. But don't despair--unlike many residences of our affluent (which remain hidden away upon hillsides above the "hoi polloi")--from Eden Park, any paparazzo with telephoto can scrutinize these homes as much as he pleases.
  21. Perhaps so...but, then again, why is anyone still fighting over a hair salon-vs-a thirty-story high rise w/an urban grocery?! Geezus, relocate that friggin' hair salon somewhere else and build this thirty-story resident high-rise now!
  22. So let's just connect some dots and suspect that one of Cranley's "buddies" just might be John Barrett himself. (Makes sense, doesn't it? After all, in Barrett's powerful grasp, Cranley's nothing more than just another perfect tool.)
  23. Agreed! (This Cincinnatian just bookmarked the site for quick reference.)
  24. Very true, but obtaining closeup photos of many of these mansions will require either a discreet presence combined with a telephoto lens or putting oneself at risk venturing anywhere onto their property. So many of the mansions of Indian Hill are virtual fortresses, protected by private acres of trees and hills, plus elaborate security systems.
  25. Ironically enough, as I was typing my response to Jake, you posted your response above--and of equal merit. Nobody can know for sure (other than John Barrett and his powerful associates) what W&S actually envisions for this, their avowed "SE Quadrant" of the CBD. But, like you mentioned, perhaps W&S's vision of this holy turf may not prove to be all that bad--and thus better than that of ALI and its former, wasted prostitutes.
