Downtown Dayton Building Re-Use Study kick-off
Went thourgh downtown the other day. It sure is odd without the Patterson school there. I did see probably about 50 or so people walking around on the streets as I weaved my way through town, and everything is looking good. Also, I saw some construction south of town at the intersection of main and Irving. Is that Sugar Pointe?

Favorite non-Ohio city (US only)
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Architecturally speaking, it's awesome! At least I didn't say Charlotte! You got a good point. Sorry I forgot about that, I was just on the mindset of thinking that Charleston was another southern boomtown. A southern boomtowm with character is one that I can respect.

North Randall: Randall Park Mall
I got an idea for this mall: 2 MILLION SQUARE FOOT INDIAN CASINO! It would be great. The building is in the perfect condition for it, and they can put in a giant pawn shop where the Macy's used to be. Luxury living, here we come! No, seriously though, I read the wikipedia article and saw that they are turning part of it into a technical college. That is great. Now if Cleveland could just annex North Randall so it can finish the job.

Youngstown: "The Armpit of Ohio" "Murder Town" - Rolling Stone Magazine
Last time I checked, that was officially New Jersey, due to its "armpit" location. Ohio is the "heart", which at least seems a lot better to me.

Bob Evans
Just to post the idiot comment: I like their pot roast sandwich. You guys should try it. I also like Applebee's food a lot, and I assume that most of these places are franchises. Therefore, these chains are still a part of the community with only the difference of having a common name and menu attached, but I still prefer independent restraunts.

Favorite non-Ohio city (US only)
Sorry about not checking back on this poll sooner. I only went with the cities that came to mind in the course of about 10 minutes. So, I apologize for not adding the cities below, but there is no way in h*ll that Des Moines is ever going to touch this list. Milwaukee Portland Minneapolis/St. Paul DFW San Diego

Favorite non-Ohio city (US only)
I tried to get most all of the larger, more diverse and identifiable cities in our nation in this poll. However, if you like a city that is not listed, though, please post which city it is and why.

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
Interesting watch last night on World News tonight with ABC. The city looked good (especially since most of the "city" photos were of THE GREENE!!!!!.) However, it was still interesting although I felt that it didn't portray the city's opinion or attitude exactly right. Bowling Green should be interesting tonight, too. Thoughts?

Ohio: Casino / Gaming Discussion
What we really need is a casino in the Arcade building in downtown Dayton, along with other casinos in other large, historic buildings in the rest of our state's downtowns. Downtown casino= best revitilization tool ever (Heck, they even make downtown Detroit look good.)

What about I-264 in Louisville? With I-265 there, what's the point of having it besides wasting space?

Dayton: Random Development and News
First off, I'm new to the site  but I read it frequently and it is awesome! You guys actually have reasonable views about urbanism and economic development and planning. Yeah! Anyways, if they actually go through with this, I think it will be a great asset for the Dayton region. This proposal might also give us some needed office space/ large department stores in the Nroth Dayton region. Thoughts? Sorry, couldn't get the image over here. Don't know why. Anyways, here's the link http://www.ci.vandalia.oh.us/uploads/Business/Vandalia_Access_Rd_Dev.pdf
