  1. Okay, sorry I am making a stupid post on this thread, but why should I vote no on this? I read in the DDN that it was a bad deal, and I believe what they stated was that farmers could regulate themselves if this was passed? But, I'm not sure. I like the idea of tougher animal safety regulations. Every creature should have the right to stand up, turn around, and fully extend themselves, which this bill seems to support the practice of. But, is this really the case? Or am I misinformed completely? I would like to know how I should vote on this before Nov. 3rd.

Exctly, but then he'll drive the company into the ground and bankrupt it, and us Daytonians can be amused by the fact that the company crashed and burned somewhere that was not on our home turf. Raw deal for the workers, though :(
  3. Awesome! What a wonderful section of the Y-Town.

I guess Bill-O the Nut Job is currently in the process of obtaining what he deserves... NCR Corp. Q3 profit dives, will cut 2,200 jobs Dayton Business Journal Thursday, October 22, 2009 NCR Corp. reported Thursday its profit plunged about 79 percent following impairment charges, litigation charges and the impact of the recession. It also will cut up to 2,200 jobs. http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2009/10/19/daily80.html
  5. ^Yuck. Saw the signs for this on a visit there a month or so ago when I was walking out to the parking garage. Makes me wonder if the owners of the apartment complex located behind the Greene would be willing to pay big cash to have a road from the Greene extended to their property so that they could market their housing the same way.....
  6. Interesting. One quick question, though- Where did the Somalians and Sudanese refugees live? Are they in the city?

    ^Does Trotwood sound better?

Thanks for posting!!!! Evansville looks great, although a little sterile (I guess the Dayton grit is continuing to become something I expect). Great city, though, and I love seeing all of the new investment in the center city.

Not a bad bump on the road, although the Family Dollar in the center of town killed it a little bit. Great thread.
  10. Don't forget the one on Manchester Rd!!!! (I assume Garver Rd. was the JESUS exit you were referring to) Still, yeah, the Ham-Mason exit is utterly pointless, especially with the nice, moderately-used Cin-Day rd. exit right up the street. They would have been better off with massive road widenings at Cin-Day and Ham-Mason to better connect to Cox, but that would have (gasp!!) disturbed the beloved Wetherington, home to John Boehner (although I doubt that this idea is much of an improvement for all of the Wetherington-ites, which will have to hope and pray to God that exit users will only head toward the east)

^As PrftTimeOfDay mentioned on his or her thread, maybe the UDRI could use it? Personally, I think it would be great for the business school to use, especially with its top-ranked entrepreneurship program.
  12. Nice thread, thanks for posting. I really love the second to last skyline shot. What a great, unappreciated view of the city :)
  13. So sad. I remember the original IGA in town where Family Dollar is now, really a nice, small-town store actually. Then, I moved right before they built the Munafo store, which kinda bummed me out because I could walk to it from my house. I guess the Kroger up the pike killed it. Still, Monroe could use a library, and that would make a nice spot. I also remember there being talk of putting in a library on that location before the grocer went up, so maybe now is the time!!!!!
  14. http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2009/10/05/daily76.html?surround=lfn Dayton Business Journal Friday, October 9, 2009, 1:35pm EDT New coffee shop opens in downtown Dayton There’s a new spot for java lovers to get a jolt in downtown Dayton. The Ohio Coffee Co. opened earlier this month at 46 W. Fifth St. The coffee shop, in the former home of Seattle East and Terra Cotta Café, will feature home made baked goods, organic teas and coffee from a variety of roasters.
  15. Glad it's ahead of schedule, but still see no point to this intersection as there is one at Cin-Day and 129 less than half a mile away that is constructed for extremely high traffic volumes.
  16. H*ll, we got one thing going for us here..... NOTHING ever happens in Dayton. EVER. I doubt we will have to worry :)
  17. Gotta love the Weiler Welding mural!!!!!
  18. Good Stuff. Wish I could swing by, but I am booked solid (busy season for me)
  19. Us Daytonites would be much happier to cut 90 minutes from our trip by having a casino here instead :-D
  20. Actually kinda suprised to see Detroit that low.....
  21. Northridge: The Runt of Dayton. Loving the threads, Jeffery. Great work as always!!!!!
  22. Awesome Thread!!!!! Nice to see the Trump Tower done, and seriously, after realizing that I know exactly where you took almost every picture in that set from, I have been spending WAY too much time in Chi-Town recently. This thread is killer awesome!!!!
  23. Yeah, good work there classifying gay marriage along with drug addiction! Maybe next we can spend some tax $$ on Christiany rehab centers for GLBTs? Sorry about my sloppy post above (forgot to delete a when paraphrasing my OP on this thread), but I needed to put gay marriage in its own category. I simply stated that because legalizing it may make our state more of a "destination", like Massachusettes is, and would bring tax revenue (and prosperity) with it. The subject really has nothing in common with the original topic or the rest of my post.
  24. How exactly would you heavily tax gay marriage? Yeah, I kinda forgot to put that in its own little section. My bad!!!!!
  25. Okay, I thought this was interesting and worth noting, so I'll post it. ____________________________________________ Developer to begin $54M project at Austin Road Dayton Business Journal http://dayton.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2009/09/14/daily14.html?surround=lfn RG Properties, pending the approval of Montgomery County, will embark on a $54 million development at the northeast corner of the Austin Road interchange.
