Dayton: Random Development and News
Korea businesses troll Ohio for investments by Associated Press Wednesday August 26, 2009, 10:54 AM DAYTON, Ohio — South Korean companies that make everything from tents to food preparation equipment to paving technology spent three days exploring investment opportunities in an Ohio region hard hit by layoffs in the auto and transportation industries. Last week's visit to Troy in southwest Ohio came as South Korean businesses are increasing their presence in the United States, with direct investment growing from $1.4 billion in 2003 to $13.1 billion in 2007. Several were interested in cashing in on a growth spurt at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton by winning contracts for military-related products such as toothbrush kits, heavy duty tents and camouflage structures. Dayton: General Business & Economic News
Interesting story, TBideon. I think I'll paste a copy of this in the Dayton: News and Development section because it fits well there. Anyways, I hope they start investing. We sure could use it :)

Dayton- Oregon
^Yeah, Dayton's got a full electric trolley bus system, the only major city in Ohio to still have it. Many of the lines extend pretty far out, to places even like the (ghetto) suburban former Salem Mall area. We're lucky we have them. Good luck to Cincy and obtaining them in the future!!!!!

Dayton- St. Anne's Hill
That would be a GREAT idea :-) Very nice thread. Truly a wonderful section of town.

PURE MICHIGAN
It generally seems like the rivalry is big in Daytonnati suburbia, but not so much in the center city or rural surroundings. I've always found this to be an odd trend... (Especially since I'm a Michigan fan myself)

Dayton, OH- Ya gotta wonder what the story to this is! :)
Maybe it's a wild and crazy idea, but someone could have just innocently lost their shoe. Although I will admit that is a very hard thing to do.......

Dayton- A few Dayton churches
Yep, gotta love some of those churches (not the "big box" at the start, though...) Still, as always, my favorite church goes to the Sacred Heart church downtown. What a beauty!!!!!

Dayton: Wright-Dunbar
I know it's nice now (trust me, I remember, too), but I'm talking REAL nice. Like the Oregon District or something. The buildings look great, but they are still mostly vacant. Now if they could just be filled, this 'Hood would be unstoppable! RANDOM: 200th post :drunk:

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Wow, not including the USAF museum was a really stupid move. I can understand Akron, but the USAF museum would have been a large draw for the train, especially since it's free (the museum, that is). Also would have drawn a lot of suburban families to the line, a huge plus for getting future generations used to rail. Oh well.

Dayton: "Dixie Bee Line" to the Airport & Modern Times
Very nice, Jeffery. I really didn't realize this section of the interstate was constructed like this, and definitely didn't realize the old traffic circle was the southern terminus! I also liked the shots of this road in the '40's vs. I-75 at Benchwood-Wyse now (especially since it's the Dayton area's highest volume section of highway). What a difference!

Dayton: Random Development and News
Thought I'd post this here. This is actually a really interesting (as in bizarre) development, and I'll be posting a Jeffery-style thread here in a couple days detailing it, primarily with DDN articles and some commentary. Anyways, for now, here will work, since I saw another article related to this development posted here: Huber development back on track 625-acre residential lot called Carriage Trails Dayton Business Journal - by Tom Demeropolis, DBJ Staff Reporter Friday, August 14, 2009 After years of delays, switching owners and plan revisions, a 625-acre housing development in Huber Heights is breaking ground this year on its first homes. The development, now called Carriage Trails, has been in the planning stages for more than eight years, but at least one home builder will start work on its first model home in the development in the next 30 days. Ken Conaway, vice president of Dublin-based DEC Investment Group Inc., the new developers of the project, expects six homes to be built before the end of the year. Phase I of the project includes 37 lots, all approved for building. But Conaway doesn’t expect construction to ramp up until 2010. Carriage Trails has space for 1,650 housing units, a mix of single family homes and multi-family units. The land sits about a mile north of Interstate 70 and between state Routes 201 and 202. Multi-family units are planned for the east end of Carriage Trails, while the single family homes will be on the west side. MORE: http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/stories/2009/08/17/story1.html
