Cincinnati Hospitals
My marbles are on right behind Bob Evans on North Bend Rd. It's supposed to be a a health care facility of some sort, why can't it be a new hospital?

Off Topic
Can you make her change all the lights in the office? How about mind numbingly multiweek tasks involving Excel? Perhaps giving her a project that is outside her skill level and then giving her a horribly unreasonable time limit to do it? I swear I am not inherently evil.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^^That train trestle in Okeana is one of the more beautiful rail structures I've seen with my own eyes. As a kid I saw it once, and never knew where it was, until I worked for the Butler County Engineer. It's certainly a relic to the past.

Cincinnati: Red-light cameras
Mallory: I'll veto red light cameras Since there is nothing wrong with paraphrasing, the gist of the story is that Mallory does not believe goal of red light cameras has been realized in the plan (safety), and as such will veto the ordinance. Hmm, low velocity intersections not seeing any major safety improvements thanks to cameras, possibly because rear end accidents increase with cameras... you don't say. Sounds like a money making scheme to me as well.

1907 Kessler Cincinnati Plan
That would explain the alignment of SR 264. Bridgetown from Harrision to Glenway was at one time for a short while SR 268. That is in fact quite the find. Also, I've been looking forever to figure out what road was Bloody Run Road. Now I know. This is an amazing thread to say the least.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Really? And were is that at? Well, roads are funded through the gas taxes and license plate registration fees. Those would, in fact, be sources of funding. Nothing, after all, is truly free.

How many distinct highrise(skyscraper) districts does Ohio have?
After reviewing this question with my fellow CEO's (of the Kroger, P&G, Chiquita, and 5/3 alliance - KPGC5/3A) we came to the conclusion that yes, we chose this reason because of the soil "conditions". And we don't want to compete with Manhattan and all ... well, you guys know how that is ... That's funny, Chicago has terrible soil conditions. Don't see those conditions being a problem for skyscrapers. I don't know about downtown, but generally in Cincinnati the bedrock is shallow.

Green Township: Mercy Health West Hospital
I doubt they'll build at 128. There's a whole lot of nothing at 128, and all the land on Harrison down by the Treatment Plant is Flood Plain, currently flooding with an apparent, 2 year frequency. As for North Bend, that's possible. It's also possible that they'll locate on Harrison North of 74, across the street from the strip mall with Take 5. That was supposed to be health care.

Help with Washington DC
So, I decided to decline the position. The numbers just don't work out. I'll find a job elsewhere. Thanks for your help though, everyone!

Help with Washington DC
Thanks for the advice. Ohio's market for what I wish to do has been shot and killed thanks to the overspending of the previous ODOT administrator, unbelievable increase in Asphalt, and general economic slowdown. It's sort of a quandary of what I should do. The job in DC is in fact what I want to do, but as many, many people have stated and as I have noticed, DC is stupidly expensive. I got to figure out if I want to risk living day by day or try my luck elsewhere. It isn't as though I haven't tried to find a job I wanted here in Ohio, it's just that there market isn't there anymore for what I wish to do.

Help with Washington DC
My place of work would literally be next door to the Clarendon Metro Station. Is $1400-1500 generally the median rental rate in Northern Virginia? Or can I find a better deal?

Help with Washington DC
I might be taking a job in Arlington, VA (particularly in Clarendon). As someone who has lived in Cincinnati all of my life, I am looking for any insight as to places I should possibly look to live in the vicinity of Arlington, VA. Being someone who has recently graduated from college (well, soon enough), affordability is nice. I also am inclined to believe that I must live in Virginia, as I am indirectly working for the Virginia DOT. I know this is an Ohio Message Board, but I think and hope that there are a few people here that know something about DC, or where I can look for help. All I keep seeing is sticker shock from the cost of apartments in the area. Does anyone have any suggestions for DC? I'd certainly appreciate it if you did. Note: I know there is a forum for Relocation Assistance, but I am under the impression that is for Ohio relocation only. If this thread should be there as well, feel free to move.

Cincinnati: Western Bowl / General Custers
This will be interesting to see the response of the masses.

Cincinnati: Western Bowl / General Custers
I'm quite content with where I live. Access to two interstates and Cross County, it's rather convenient. :P Of course one of those interstates is accessed at Rybolt, and we all know how screwed up Rybolt is. ^I certainly hope something happens to Glenway Crossing. It's... depressing. I would think it'd be a prime target for redevelopment.

Cincinnati: Western Bowl / General Custers
**Cough** If you're including the far West Side make Colerain Township red as well... It's directly north of Green Township and I happen to live farther West than most true West Siders. /End Aside Selling Western Bowl would be a tragedy. Sure, Western Bowl is one of the most expensive places to bowl on the West Side, but it's an institution. I can't imagine this will sit well with the West Side if this is made well known. It seems to me as though the Hoinkes' realized that they could cash out on this property. Sad, very sad.

This is a cruel joke, right? Is nothing sacred?

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
The technology exists (and is in use) where youre license plate information is collected and you are sent a bill for your toll. That eliminates the need for toll booths. It's very similar to the camera systems in use for traffic signals that logs the plate numbers of folks that run the light. I don't know if that technology is proven on an interstate highway. That said, Interstate 75 could be a prime candidate for being a proving ground.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
I still say tolling is one of the only viable options that insures that the build alternative gets built, unless they go with the super secret tax for the Brent Spence Project. I take it that they are implying that they will use a Port Authority to build the bridge. A Port Authority was how the Fox Highway went from being a pipe dream to being reality. A Port Authority allows for more risk to be taken on because any debt accumulated goes against the Port Authority, and not the local government agencies funding it. It should, if set up properly, allow for cooperation across states as well. Believe it or not, but the Fox highway was originally supposed to be a toll road. Some how that mega project got built. I am confident that they'll find a way to build this bridge. You might hate highways and what they've done to the urban cores, but one can not ignore the national and regional significance of this link. Even this bridge will be necessary in a multimodal Cincinnati.

Liberty Township: Liberty Center
I think they have a lot of balls to call this Butler County's Banks Project. Where's the Central Riverfront Park to go with it? Where's the beautiful downtown backdrop? Where are Butler County's two major league stadiums? Oh, that's right, we're talking about a project on Hamilton-Mason Road. Ugh. Perhaps they're trying to mask the fact that gas prices coupled with the mortgage crisis and collapse of the housing market is destroying their dreams for Liberty Township. Who knows? But, one thing is certain, they have a lot of balls to say that.
