  1. Some of the responses on this site never cease to amaze but I guess will never end. God how could anyone not love these? I think these have the ability to be much more transforming for Cleveland than most other projects and for a lot less money. In fact it would be an outrage if Case didn't go the extra mile and really make their bridge stunning. To me these couldn't be built faster and hopefully people don't try and drag the process out any longer than needed. These types of projects are what bring people into the city by far. Man I hope these happen.
  2. Wyndhorst knows basketball but no more than about 10 million other people. He has lost all credibility especially during the finals. Perhaps he is too close to LeDouche but whatever the case he has become the ultimate lap dog for ESPN and LeChoke. ESPN is so pathetically biased towards Miami and LePuke it's sick. Even when Dalls wins you would never know it by the post game coverage which is completely focuse on what Miami did well.
  3. There is another site I'm sure you would love, it's called Cleveland.com. Lord

Yeah So What? Can't we enjoy the moment? CHRWISSTTT!!!!
  5. What a stupid decision by a lame company. This is a dying industry anyhow, the population that actually buys greeting cards these days is growing smaller by the minute. I mean outside of a few holidays and the internet who needs greeting cards, ask anyone under 25 how many greeting cards they buy each year. If anyone thinks this decision wasn't somehow influenced by the "Families" interest in the real estate is also sniffing glue.
  6. Who cares? I mean is that what your really concerned about? If so don't walk or drive by? Unbelievalbe.

All I can say is DUH!@ I'm actually glad to read Kasich is going after the casino's for more money. The constitutional amendment was a bad deal in a number of ways, but primarily it was written by the casino people for the casino people. Its always seemed very one-sided to me. I could care less if the casinos never opened. Cleveland is gaining momentum without them and they're going to bring as much harm as they bring good, might as well wring a few extra million out of them if we can.
  8. If those restaurants have a quality product and good food then they have nothing at all to worry about. Giving people options is a good thing and it's proven over and over again that adding options doesn't ruin it for other businesses at all, in fact it can help grow the business fore everyone. Short sided thinking is so sad!
  9. Obviously you may very well have a simple palate and if so there are many other establishments like Dairy Queen that would fit your budget and taste requirements. If you think $5 is too much for a dessert then you need to maybe get out more and actually see what people pay for desserts or anything for that matter. If this establishment is putting quality into their product then GODD FOR THEM and they should charge accordingly, and perhaps attract a little higher end clientele to the area.
  10. So why not start now and push people to start taking public transportation. Not sure when you think "they" will be ready. Public parking should be the last thing on this neighborhood's agenda. Focus on great housing, entertainment, jobs and people will come. Screw people and their need to have parking options.
  11. There is so much wrong with your post about SF that it would be almost impossible to start responding. Must just be the Cleveland negative mindset.
  12. The arrogance of your quote is not that unusual, I see that type of attitude from people who move to San Francisco from all over the country constantly. They came out West to get away because they needed to be in a "cool" city, it get's pretty repetitive. Most of these "transplants" add nothing much to this city but add another body. The really arrogant thing was telling people not to be disillusioned that their city will ever turn around? Hello and what gives you the hutzpah to tell anyone that? Let me tell you something that is based on fact, Seattle is a great city with lots to offer some people but from my experience Cleveland with years of hardship is still a much better city than Seattle in so many ways, period. And many people feel the same way about Seattle that you feel about Cleveland. In fact I just had two long conversations with coworkers from Seatlle that can't wait to leave, and the overwhelmingly dreary nine months of the year was not the biggest factor either. For you to come on here with that inane post is really bizzare. Fine, you found somewhere that you like, good for you, but your post honestly says something quite different. As someone who was counted in the Cleveland numbers in 2000 but was counted in Seattle in 2010 let me speak from experience. I had a very similar attitude and left Cleveland in 2002. For myself, leaving Cleveland was the absolute best decision I ever made. Living in a city that's been in a downward spiral for the last 60 years just wasn't appealing to me. I would have loved to stay and support Cleveland, however I didn't want to waste the next 30 years living with that constant "maybe next year things will get better" attitude. Things won't get better. Not in our lifetime. Look at the numbers, they are getting WORSE. Don't let yourself be disillusioned that a city like Cleveland or Cincinnati is about to turn the corner. If you want to stay and help, then go for it! Some people are built that way, I wasn't. Personally I love living in a progressive and on the rise city. But to me the biggest difference are the attitudes. I can't really put into words the attitude difference. It's something you'll have to experience for yourself. There's not a day I look back and regret the move out west. You owe it to yourself to give it a try, you don't want to live the rest of your life thinking "what if". To each his own! If it doesn't work out you can always move back!
  13. If you read the communication put out this bakery is NOT closing permanently, they are moving to another location.
  14. Of course it's never easy to see population declines but not too unexpected and nothing to get crazy over, especially from all the negative ill informed comments that are sure to come. From an outsider perspective I have never seen Cleveland in a better position for changes that will affect population loss. Because a city has more people doesn't necessarily make it a better place at all. Here in California there are plenty of places with growth, like San Jose and other parts of the Central Valley, that are far from great areas to live. Cleveland is a tough city with amazing potential and can withstand this better than most places. Cleveland's time is coming. I'm optimistic for the Cleve and Investing in the city.
  15. If you took out all the words "worry" "doubt" "doubtful" "concerned" etc. from the posts on this forum it would be half the size. 539] Not a conspiracy at all. There should be serious concerns about the viability of a nearly $1 billion casino investment in Cleveland. Fact is that the Cleveland casino was originally projected to be the largest market in Ohio, but recent projections dropped Cleveland from first to last in estimated "casino seats." (http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20110214/BIZ01/102140321/Casino-estimates-shrink) Yes, even behind Toledo. This gives me reason to be concerned that the $350 million "temporary" casino won't be so temporary and makes me question whether Gilbert will be willing to spend another $600 million on casino seats that may not be necessary based on the most recent projections. I'm sure he would prefer to have a new building right next to the Q and Progressive Field, but will it make business sense? I have my doubts...
  16. EGadz has this site been reduced to conspiracy theories?. What the H?
  17. Unfreaking believable. Jaw droppingly unnecessary worrying must be killing your life. Kheeerist why don't you worry about things that matter.
  18. HTsguy you said it perfectly. The negativity in Cleveland is by far the worst I have ever witnessed anywhere, it's truly amazing. Everyone is worried or concerned or whatever. No matter what it is Clevelandars will search for the one negative aspect of something and latch on.
  19. I can only talk to the hotel stay units of Tremont Place Lofts but from my experience it has gone down hill fast. I have stayed there from the beginning even while the vast majority of the place was still under construction. It was always kind of a hassle to make any type of reservations and the Managers were a bit inept but I stayed there anyway since I thought it was unique and helping the neighborhood versus staying at a hotel. My last visit was over Christmas and it was a complete nightmare. It seems the units have become dirtier with every stay and this time it was gross. The entire apartment was full of what seemed like dog hair which stuck to all our clothes and the entire place is in serious need of a paint job and complete cleaning. The kicker was for two days we had no water at all. So we had to go to the nearest coffee house for water and to use the restroom. No shower, no toilet, nothing. When I went down to talk with them they did nothing but blame the city of Cleveland. These were only the most severe of issues while staying there, so we left and had to find another place to stay. We left a letter with the owner letting him know of our experience and as of today we still have heard nothing. There was no attempt at all to compensate us for the horrible experience. I think they are lucky they don't have much competition because if they did they would be out of business. I have stayed in hundreds of different types of establishments but this was the absolute worst. I would not reccomend anyone staying in their hotel units.
  20. How Ruhlman can go one day and hit very few restaurants and make that claim is completely suspect. It's like visiting any big town, go to some had picked restaurants, it would be hard not to give accolades. Not sure if Ruhlman thinks his readers haven't a clue or what. Been to both Cleveland and Columbus and both have great options but my opinion is if you look at the big picture Cleveland wins hands down by far.
  21. I think you answered your own question and you would be crazy not to move to Cleveland. The people who say you're delusional are probably just going to regurgitate the same old negative stuff Cleveland has had to deal with forever or they just don't want to believe Cleveland is actually a kick ass city with tons to offer. From what I can tell Cleveland's economy is also doing better than any of the other big cities so your friends are actually the delusional ones. I think you should go for it and not look back.
  22. Uh rude? I think I was being really nice. What is rude is being subject to this kind of stinking garbage masqueraded as journalism. It's odd and scary that someone who is supposed to have a clue about the Midwest is so completely off base.
  23. I don't understand why anyone would bring their thoughts to this Guy who is abviously ignorant about Cleveland. If he has visited the city and only thinkg the RRHOF is the only thing worth visiting then he shouldn't be talking about the city at all. It's so annoyting when we have to read such drivel like his. Why should anyone of us need to educate this person?
  24. People on here not complain? I think they would stop breathing completely before that would ever happen. It's a given no matter what.
