  1. Is it a traveling exhibit from one of the major museums like the Smithsonian or the geggenheim?

Chicagoist I am in a similar position as you, live in San Francisco but looking for a house in the Cleve for a possible move back eventually and require something close to the urban experience I am used to. Have spent a lot of time in the City the last few years in all the neighborhoods you mentioned and in my opinion Detroit Shoreway def has the most potential to be the next best neighborhood, somewhat rough around the edges but really has a lot going for it and probably get more for your money regarding housing. Tremont and to a lesser degree Ohio City are more on the way to being gentrified or whatever you want to call it but both have amazing charm, character and urban options. The other area I think is really worth looking into on the east side is University Circle and Little Italy area because there is so much to do and I think will continue to grow although I have not checked out the housing options as much. Also if you're planning on being in the area for a while I would seriously consider buying versus renting, there are some great deals and it would probably be less expensive than renting especially if you have the ability to put near 20% down. What we haven't considered in our search is schools since we have no children so others could give you more info on this subject, which can be a sticky point to many. Lastly if you want to stay in Tremont during your next visit to get a feel for the area, which is of course is close to OC and DS, look into staying at a place called Tremont Place Lofts which offers furnished apartments which are no more than your typical hotel and it's really a great place. If you want more details on it let me know and I can give you the scoop on what apartments to ask for since I have stayed there a lot. Anyway good luck, I love that you are making it a priority to live in the city proper!

Scrabble is that all you have? To blast me about Pelosi? Actually since you brought her up she is actually pretty bitchin and has bigger Kahuna's than all the Repubs in Congress put together!

John Boehner is nothing but a blowhard embarassment to Ohio and the U.S.! The latest polls show a favorable view to the healthcare bill. I can't wait until November when the rest of the Republicans, and dimwitted Democrats, get voted OUT!!!

Clevelander17...not to be an alarmist....??????!!!!!JJJ$$$???? The team would relocate? Why doesn't the city just plan on shutting off the utilities and garbage collection if Lebron leaves? Please, I mean c'mon if you're going to lose your bowels with this kind of media there is another site called Cleveland.com where you will feel right at home. This kind of talk is nuts. If Lebron leaves, he leaves. I would be more concerned that the Cavs organization has a GREAT ORGANIZATION and a perfect owner that built this team and can do it again. PERIOD!

Lord some of these posts are just depressing. Worrying about sightlines, benches and mounds that could possibly hide the homeless. Christ.
  7. That building is supposed to be mind boggling? And many buildings have glare that I have witnessed all over the country and never heard of any unusual amounts of bird deaths WTF? I think this building is fine and has some nice things about it. It's different from anything else in Cleveland and although it's not the most amazing building, it's certainly not the monstrosity people are making it out to be.
  8. These look awesome and something completely different, perfect for UC and what is going on in that neighborhood. I bet the views are incredible.
  9. Although I think Forbes magazine isn't worhty of being used as toilet paper, I think if there is a smidgen of truth to this poll it's because way too many locals can have a wee bit negative attitude and a "grass is always greener" thing about their town eventhough they really love Cleveland deep down. This is coming from my friends and family as well. I find myselft in the weird position of having to defend the Cleve to the locals which kills me. Perhaps it's a generational thing from having to witness such bad press but I think it's just a matter of time and work before the local attitude really swings to the positive, and to be sure I think it is without a doubt. On another note I have a lot of family that live in Stockton and that city is the absolute most depressing city with almost next to nothing going on and can not even compare to the Cleve in any way except maybe the weather. Stockton doesn't even have one half way decent bar or restaurant or even a local coffe shop or any place with charm or charachter.
  10. can someone send out the email address of the person or persons that should get an email because I would love to send one as well.
  11. So refreshing to hear companies like Rosetta and the reasons they give for wanting to be located downtown and around E 4th. So different from old guard type companies like Eaton and Carnegie Investments.
  12. I'll go with the expertise and progressive style of the Wyse people than any "observer". Looks pretty damn cool to me and a great and different environment to work in, maybe they are trying to get their people to think "Outside the Box"? No, that couldn't happen.
  13. Can someone tell me if the Global Moderators are here to personally attack and try to censor other members on this site? X who the H do you think you are? I could give a rats behind how you took my post and obviously you have severe personal issues and shouldn't be monitoring anyting except your own behaviour. How you pulled that crazy message out of my post is anyone's guess but it's completely off base. I have every right to give props to McNulty who is taking a huge lead with investing, expanding, and revitalizing this area without having to mention all the other obvious contributors to the neighborhood. And for your information I have family history from OC that goes back to the 1800's so you know what you can do with your "ignorant" comment. And if you don't want people to think your an ignorant dolt then quit acting like one!
  14. This Guy McNulty is brilliant. Great to have someone who is a risk taker and is rethinking what Cleveland is all about and building on current assets like the WSM. I mean what a great idea to have a huge beer garden and brewery attached to the Market. I know he wasn't the first to this area but he is sure taking the lead. It seemed like for so long the WSM was this lone beacon in an otherwise barren area but not any longer. I can't wait for this place to open and to see what other great changes and ideas this local entrepreneur brings to Ohio City and Cleveland. I loved Bar Cento so I'm sure this place will be a huge success.
  15. I really hope the best and brightest will be able to influence this decison for the redesign of PS so Cleveland can benefit from it for years to come. I know everyone has their ideas but I hope a skating rink doesn't even come close to PS. Yes it's fun and great for a month or two but would sit empty for the rest of the year. There are plenty of other areas where this would be more appropriate. I know this sounds harsh but the more the general public gets involved with these decisions we will get nothing but mediocrity.

That was such an awesome game and the Lakers were just pissed off because they played against a Cavs team that was just all around better. I loved how the Lakers came into the game like this was no real contest and got spanked. Lakers are so petty especially Kobe. It was especially good because they didn't win because Lebron put on a one man show. Anderson, Mo, JJ, Moon...they were all great. It is so nice to see the Cav have depth and we can rely on the bench. Remember in the past whenever LBJ would sit down our lead would eveporate? Can't wait to see what Powe brings to the table come February. This win was huge but it's just one of many big wins that we need. That was so much fun.
  17. Rockitect...again thanks for such great insightful and intelligent posts about this subject, it's really appreciated and why for the most part this site is valuable. X...have no idea where you're coming from claiming that architect just focused on the star power of the design firm versus the quality of the design?? Wouldn't you assume the people involved in the design of this project actually went down to PS and really thought and worked on how these options would fit into the actual space? I mean really?
  18. Rockitect...you said it all perfectly, and I hope plan three makes it. I can't imagine the experts who came up with the designs did not think about all the possible "issues" people on this thread have mentioned.
  19. Wow those are some great vitage clips of Genesis with Gabriel as the front man which is they way it should have been always.

It took me over thirty minutes to get through these images. From someone who is not in Cleveland I want to thank you very much. You captured a lot of Cleveland that many miss. Keep it up please. I know you have posted before but how about some of the neighborhoods next?
  21. Does anyone know if the RHOF is on any kind of active expansion or future building plan? The more I visit this museum the more I realize what an amazing place it is. I think it's already an iconic building and don't know how they could expand but I'm sure they could. I think for the most part what is there is great but it could really become amazing. What makes it so unique is that it's just so American and although I am no expert it's so rare that we get any new museums that are like the Rock Hall. I wonder what kind of pitch there is to all the Rock Stars out there, past and present, to donate some of their millions to make the Hall even more impressive?

An insult? A detriment? And who in the world said there should be a sign that says "This is where Chinese people shop"?? Man have you missed the point completely and what you said is completely false. Someone is always going to bring up the worst possible reaction to a suggestion like this which I guess is part of being on this site, but having landmark types of structures (like the gates I used as an example) are used in many many many cities without any detriment or insults to any other people who happen to live there too. Here in California we have many, new and old, that could be used to counter your point as well. These are simply more like permanent art installations representing a cultural influence on an area and not to deter others from living there too. In fact they are used to draw people in not out.

I meant if they built some entrance type of gates around Asia Town perhaps more Asian companies etc. would locate around them so there would be more of a specific location called Asia Town versus having them spread out.

What about build it and they will come?

Very cool and I hope the Asian community succeeds big time in Cleveland. I would love and support a thriving Asian community/neighborhood. I have to say that if there is a group of people, outside of the Gay/Lesbian community, that can come into a blighted area and turn it around, it's the Asian community. Good for them. Also it would really be cool if eventually there could be something built in different parts of the neighborhood to let you know you're in Asia Town. Something like the huge gate like structures that are over certain streets in San Francisco. I can't imagine it would be wildly expensive and something an organization like Cleveland Pulic Art would love to be involved with. I think all neighborhoods should do something like this. Even neighborhoods like Little Italy are not easily identifiable until you're right up in the hood. Just something I would do if I was in charge.
