Buffalo, NY's light rail subway
Cleveland perhaps doesn't have "rail" but the new healthline is just as good and that connects Downtown to UC with Cleveland Clinic as a stop so what are you talking about?

Cleveland: Cleveland Museum of Art Expansion / Renovation
That area is where the new main atrium is being built but I thought that was not supposed to be finished until like 2012. Perhaps they are starting it which would be nice.

Cleveland: MOCA
Actually I think it looks pretty damn hot. There are not many buildings around that look like this one. Plus I think this would be the first builing by these particular architects in the U.S. no?

Moving to DC
Am I on Cleveland.bomb or what?

Moving to DC
It's amazing the excuses (I think it's more a matter of self convincing) that people feel they need to share about why they are leaving Cleveland. Not cosmopolitan enough? The majority of people in touch with their ancestoral roots are ready to move on? What the H? And this person is moving to DC? My company has their training facility there and although there are some good things in that town I can think of massive reasons why you wouldn't want to raise kids there but that's just my opinion. Lord just move on.

KC coming to Cleveland
While visiting Cleveland I was happily surprised how many great restaurants served food very late. Three that I visited were: The Greehouse Tavern on E. 4th street, which is probably closest to where your staying, Bar Cento on W. 25th st and Luxe at 6605 Detroit Ave. All three served until 1:00 am or later and have awesome food. There are probably plenty of alternatives that other UO members can suggest. If you want great beer and food go to Bar Cento (which I talked about above) because it's basically Italian food and right next door is the Bier Mart which has plenty of great beers (they are connected so you don't even have to go outside to visit both. Then right around the corner is Great Lake Brewing Company which is one of the best Brew Pubs in the country which also has great food. Right across the street from Great Lakes is another awesome restaurant called the Flying Fig and a really great wine bar. So on one street corner you can basically hit all your requirements above. There was a new Sushi place opening as well when I was there in July but not sure if that's actually opened yet. If you do go to this area you should also visit the West Side Market which is something unique to Cleveland and really special, it's open M,W, Fri and Sat until about 4 or 5:00 pm (it's right across the street from Bar Cento on W. 25th). This area is worth visiting and it's all part of a great historic neighborhood called Ohio City. Also it may not be classified as a "martini bar" but in the same neighborhood is a great SpeakEasy called Velvet Tango Room on Columbus Street. They make the most amazing drinks you will have anywhere and are always ranked as one of the best SpeakEasy type bars in the States, along with that right below Bar Cento/Bier Mart is a new SpeakEasy which but it's only open on Friday and Saturday. Anyway good luck. You will not have any problem finding awesome places to eat and drink in Cleveland.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
I agree it's about time the tide has turned and companies are moving back to Cleveland. It's the height of hypocrisy that the suburbs are accusing Cleveland of poaching?? Hopefully this is just the first of many that move to Cleveland!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
jborger are you serious? Old theaters across the country have done exactly what the Capital is doing. They just split the balcony into two smaller theaters so they can offer multiple movies at the same time. I'm sure they kept as much of the original theaters architecture/aesthetics in place. I can't believe you would propose gutting the entire building. Have you not read anything about this project?

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
Believe now I know these lists are just like the picture above, a pile of $hit. I lived in Colorado Springs for 18 years and you would be hard pressed to even call this place a city. The Springs has absolutely NO culture, diversity, neighborhoods, entertainment, great restaurants, exciting and fun people, architecture or urban anything. If you like a little outdoor activity, western typ art, and looking at Pikes Peak day after day, and living amongst some of the 100+ Evangelical Christian groups that are based there and dictate local politics then you will ove this place, otherwise it's a complete DUD of a town. Whoever put this list together is insane, blind, corrupt and incompetent and these must be their good points.
-
Cincinnati: State of Downtown
Now I really know these lists are hogwash at best. Not knocking Cincy but I lived in Colorado Springs for 18 long years. And while parts of it are nice, and the view of Pikes Peak is fine, the Springs is a complete DUD of a town. Manitou Springs which some would consider the Springs if you didn't live there is much nicer and has some character but the Springs has almost zero charachter. No neighborhoods, No culture (outside of some "Western Art") Almost nothing to do. I can't believe the article mentions local restaurants because there are none worth mentioning. Most of the Springs restaurants are of the "Chain" variety. Very little diversity to be found anywhere and don't even talk about the "backwards" mentality of the vast majority of the locals. Visiting the Springs can be very deceiving. Looks nice, walk around some of what looks a litte quaint town, but look under the hood and stay a while because you will see how much this place sucks. If a little scenery, some outdoor activity and you don't mind the massive amount of Evangelical Christian groups that are based there, then you will love the Springs but that is all this place has.

Cleveland - Here and There Part 1
Wow I have to say you take some really great pictures and have an eye for what I want to see of Cleveland. Thank you and please keep it up and post whenever you can. Not living in the area I really appreciate your sharing.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Regardless of how frustrated you are about what she said, it's the truth. I saw it for four years. So what do we do about it? Complain? Ostricize an entire demograph essential to our redevelopment? We (recent grads) can bring new ideas, new business and new culture to the city. If Cleveland doesn't want it, I'm sure Chicago, New York, hell, even Pittsburgh would take them Believe me I'm not frustrated, it's more I'm just sick of hearing dung like this. You're right, I want recent grads to bring exactly what you say they can bring, and not focus on the things that are wrong and then use those few things as the reason they won't live somewhere??!! I just don't see the logic or reason in that. I live in San Francisco and believe me this place is great but with lots and lots of problems. I can think of a ton of reasons why I shouldn't live here. My God it's taken over 20 years to get the Bay Bridge repaired and it will take another 10 but should I use that as the reason to blast local leadership and move to San Diego? Cleveland has issues like all cities but people need to start giving this city, and all the amazing people who are making change, a break for once. I would rather have two college grads who were passionate about their city and its future than a dozen who think just because they are someplace it's fabulous.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I have to say it's depressing to read something like what this McCormack person wrote but not because of the message (I mean like did she think she was saying something new?) but because it's completely irritating to hear college grads like her be so uninspiring. I mean if you're going to base where you live because the waterfront area has not been developed and you have possible issues with local leadership then good riddance in my opinion. Cleveland needs people who want change and are willing to be involved to make that change happen. I work with a lot of college age people and I'm constantly amazed at how they want to be somewhere that is a place ready made for them to have this fabulous life versus becoming part of the community and adding to it knowing the good and bad. Without getting into a bit$CH fight over other cities issues, I mean please, NY doesn't have problems that compare to our water front problem? Of course they do but people tend to over look these and find what is good and you can do exactly that with Cleveland. I know I'm ranting but the type of drivel coming from people like her is exhausting, along with the rags that print it.

Cleveland: Tyler Village
If you ever add some business/executive type units I would stay there most definetely. I have laid out thousands to stay at Tremont Place Lofts which are nice, and I thought unique, but they do not undertsand how to take care of people who want a different and special experience. Looks like you have that with Tyler Village. Good Luck!

West Park - Kamms Corner
If you want to live in a place that is relatively boring with absolutely nothing cultural to offer then West Park is good to go. I was born there and have family and friends there and it's a wasteland of suburbia in the city

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
It was sad news to hear of this project going under but at the same time it was really nice to hear about Rosetta planning on moving 400 employees to downtown Cleveland instead of the opposite like CREaton! This is a great sign that there are large progressive companies outside of Cleveland that see the potential. Perhaps even more remote companies outside of Cleveland and even Ohio or the country will start to realize the same thing.

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
more and more existent? Wow Columbus is trying to become existent? If you think Columbus is going to get the Cavs then your not even close to being existent. Again, no one outside of the near Columbus area even knows that Columbus exists. If you ask anyone in the West where Columbus is they say he died in Spain or something, really.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Does anyone know if Dante's restaurant in Tremont is still a go and if so when it will open? I found a website for them but the phone number is disconnected. I will be visiting July 4th week and want to make reservations if possible. Any word? Thanks

Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Please...why in the world would they move the Cavs to Columbus? I mean the franchise is one of the most successful. Columbus? I mean it would be like moving them to Zanesville. Sorry to tell you but people hardly know Columbus exists.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Perhaps you didn't read the post but it's a "boutique" shoe store and 600 sq feet is plenty, it's not a famous footwear or foot locker.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
edale I am sick of hearing the same old crap out of people like you. Yeah so what leBron is amazing, are you trying to tell us something we don't already know? Kobe and others do pretty much the same for their teams and it's ok, that's what we should expect?! I want and expect LeBron to go into "Take Over Mode"!! What do you think he is paid a freaking gazillion dollars each year for? My God, would you be more comfortable if he was making 20 points per game and skipping off court without a sweat? Crimminey get over your same old Cleveland "let's play into the jinx of we allways lose everything because we suck but let's hope for the best" type of thinking and just believe that he is a player that can do the unthinkable with a talented supporting cast and just go for it!!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
KJP you're not being melodramatic, you're just wrong. Seems to me this was sort of hoisted onto the city and even though there were attempts to make something happen, it didn't. To say this is indicative of Cleveland not competing or in some way not powerful is really short sited. Perhaps you haven't looked around lately but cities, even powerful cities, out here in the West like San Franciso, Los Angeles, Las Vegas to name a few are struggling big time to keep their quality of life assets. Cleveland has civic gems that are in good and even great shape and in this economic fiasco that is a good thing. So, this project didn't get off the ground, so what?

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
It's really cool that this is really going to be another great destination spot and neighborhood in Cleveland. While visiting there in April we ate at Luxe on Detroit and I was really floored at how good it was. The whole vibe of the place was great as well. It's really pretty amazing how many truly great restaraunt options you have in Cleveland these days. I remember in the past you always had some great ethnic types of restaurants like Sokolowski's and some other places which were high end (or trying to be) but now there are just so many to choose from that when we are there it's really hard to decide where we want to eat because of the variety. Once these new wide sidewalks are finished it will make it that much more of an interesting and urban feel. Can't wait to get back this summer. Every neighborhood in Cleveland should get somehting like this moving or in the plans for the near future.

That was one of the most amazing games I have ever witnessed. I think that shot should take Cleveland to the finals.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The building looks cool. Is the building slated for just apartments with possibly businesses on the first floor?
