Hey, if Detroit can get the Justice League, then we should get the Hall of Fame.

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
Brush was always rough? Dude, you are way off on this one. My sisters went there and it was a fine school in the late 70s-early 80s; it got a bit rougher in the 90s (i'm sure that one principal-pervert didn't help morale) but was still a good middle class school. And then came the 2000s. Like it or not, the school is on a decline, and class disruptions are getting commonplace. Just ask your teacher-friends if you don't agree.

CHICAGO Trip Pictures (Day 4, Part 1): Lincoln Park
"Located on the NW corner of Dickens and Clark is the building Balki and Larry lived in from the third season on of "Perfect Strangers". Lol, that's my apartment. My roommate's gonna get a kick out of hearing this.

Chicago: The Loop and Wicker Park
Yeah, you'll get that element everywhere but the bums and street people are mostly downtown. HP has a bad gang problem though it's not like Austin or Englewood. Logan Square is great too - a bit more residential than WP but with more hipsters - but you always need to be cautious, especially this summer. Hell, they had a murder at the Lincoln park zoo for crying out loud!

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
What are you guys complaining about? Lots of people work and live in that area, and it's far enough not to canibalize the other locations. This really isn't a big deal.

Chicago: The Loop and Wicker Park
I can't believe how expensive Wicker Park has gotten. You should look at East Humboldt Park if you want the Wicker Park experience of ten years ago (inexpensive, a close walk to the cool parts of Wicker Park, a closer walk to some VERY rough areas, lots of hipsters, growing white population, etc).

What do you mean by filler? They're tenants of the mall just like any of the other non-seasonal places.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Was anyone else disgusted by Cleveland.com's front page article about Lebron possibly having an affair/impregnating Sharon Reed, leading to her dismissal. Cleveland.com's lack of class was particularly appalling in this desperate act for attention, and I'm really hoping the PD didn't print this TMZ $hit.

Ways Ohio can become a high growth state.
^^I really don't. Ads and marketing are ultimately just glitz. They may draw in a few new tourists, but nothing that accounts for high growth. That ultimately comes from jobs. ^I haven't seen any Feds in Chicago despite the city council's recent decriminalizing it (up to 10 gram, I believe), not to mention President Obama probably could care less if Ohio starts growing fields. Why not just go for it.

Ways Ohio can become a high growth state.
Frankly, I don't think Ohio better marketing itself would make an iota of difference. To answer the topic, Kasich should talk to 50 large and 50 medium size companies of various industries, and directly ask them what it would take for them to come here. Get specifics. And then do absolutely everything he can that doesn't violate federal law (or find some wiggle room) to bring them and other companies here. And for gods sake decriminalize pot, slap a nominal fine for possession, and start growing the stuff here under state control. Instant billion+ dollar economy right there.

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
The Freeman casting was an incredibly odd choice. Alex Cross is 6'4, 40 years old, has a boxer and swimmer physique, and looks like Muhammad Ali. Perry doesn't really match that description (unless he's hit the gym lately), but Freeman????

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Comparing their over 500 records is a little disingenuous as the Tribe went 81-81 in 08 and 80-82 last year. So I can just as arbitrarily say they're up 4-2 in the around 500 record. Not to mention they'll be in the mid 80 wins area this year as opposed to the Browns winning more than a few, barring a miracle. More importantly, at least the Indians are somewhat competitive. Outside of those two good years, in what way have the Browns even come close to being remotely competitive since the 80s. The Indians might be medicore over the last 10+ years, but the Browns have been catastrophic.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
The team is currently contending and hasbeen most of the season. What are they, 2 games back? I'm not sure what Chris said that you guys disagree with. The Browns have basically been unwatchable since their return, certainly since '08 (and they weren't all that hot in the 90s either), yet Clevelanders will obsess nonstop about them. And look at all the discussion of Lebron that still goes on two years later. It's ridiculous - he's moved on, the team has some young studs, but Livingston still writes about him weekly, with hundreds of responses. I don't know what else to say. How is Perez even wrong here?

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I give him props because he's speaking his mind, which is very refreshing in our overly politically correct world, but mostly because I agree with him.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Gotta give Perez props again http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/06/26/sports/baseball/raw-numbers-cant-explain-how-indians-win.xml Often Outscored and Unsupported, but Over .500 Perez has expressed frustration with that, and did so again Monday. He said fans seemed to care more about rooting against LeBron James and the Miami Heat than they do about rooting for the Indians. "I don't get the psyche," said Perez, who grew up in Florida. "Why cheer against a guy that's not even in your city anymore? Just to see him fail?Does that make you feel good?I could see if the Cavs were in the championship, but that's their mentality. "They've had a lot of years of misery. They say,'You just don't understand because you don't live here.' O.K.,maybe I don't. But that doesn't mean it has to keep going." The Indians drew more than 3 million fans for six seasons in a row starting in 1996,the year the N.F.L. Browns moved to Baltimore. The new version of the Browns has not won a playoff game in its 13 seasons. "That's what I don't understand," Perez said. "Their whole thing is,'We want a winner.' Well, why do you support the Browns? They don't win. They've never won. They left. You guys blindly support them. I don't understand it. It's a double standard, and I don't know why. "It's head-scratching. It's just - they don't come out. But around the city, there's great support. They watch it in the bars. They watch it at home. They just don't come.

NBA: General News & Discussion
I can't believe this conversation has gone on this long. No other city in the country has gone through the sports' hell that Clevelanders have. This isn't a woe-is-me claim; it's simply what it is. Fifty plus years. No major championships other than NPSL, and i'm really reaching there. And all this talk about Carson Palmer. The guy left his team on awful terms, whereas the entire Cleveland Browns left the team on even worse terms .... only to win a Bowl a little later and leaving us with this expansion crap. Who hurt their team more, Carson or Lebron....well, football is a team sport more so than basketball, so I'd give the chosen one the edge here. Two years and 40 wins later, it's been really ugly. Meanwhile the Bengals are studs (remarkably).

I recall Tony Gwynn was hitting around the 400 mark, and Bagwell had some insane home run numbers. What a waste of a season
