  1. There's already a lot of blank slate in that area and Tri-C sure isn't expanding. Very sad news.
  2. If I may... Casino: moving forward. Tribune building almost fully demolished. Lincoln Yards: stalled/dead. Halsted Pointe: moving forward. 1000M: complete. attractive building but shift to rentals disappointing. Thompson Google: moving forward. interesting seeing its rebuild in real time. 400 Lake Shore Drive: moving forward. LaSalle Street: 25/75 moving forward. Lakeshore Drive expansion: first I've heard of it. Other projects: 78: stalled other than an inaccessible road, inaccessible bike lanes, and a new pickleball court. U of I just bailed and is supposedly going to US Steel, which is doubtful. Michael Reese: stalled/dead. Soldier Field dome: dead. One Central: beyond dead. Red line expansion to 130: possible if financing is fast-tracked before inauguration. Riverline/South Bank: moving forward piecemeal. Wolf Points: complete. Old Post Office: basically complete. Union Station: stalled/dead. Tribune Tower 2: stalled/dead. Obama Library: moving forward. Lakeshore East remaining parcels (i.e. behind Blue Cross Tower): dead. New Sox Stadium: get the f out of here. Northside train "modernization": nearing complete. average trips reduced 10 seconds. what a great investment.
  3. Such a nice development for the area. Coventry ebbs and flows - I did love my Stillman days - but Cedar Lee has always been consistent. Right size building. More business for Phoenix Coffee, which I've always loved. Good seeing expensive housing for a change too.
  4. "Check out that former Meigs site on your next visit to the Windy City. Northerly Island offers pristine views nestled against Millenium Park, a world-class recreational, arts and civic mecca on Chicago’s lakefront." Clearly that guy has never been to Northerly Island. That aside, why on earth would Cleveland bulldoze Burke? Where is the proven demand? What tenants and investment are there? How would it be financed? How many billions (tens of billions?) of dollars are we talking? All those issues should be addressed in detail before continuing the fantasy. Yet another Medical Mart if-you-build-it-they-will-come-for-some-reason fiction does not help the region.
  5. Damn, those are some sexy angles. No rectangle box there.
  6. Streetsboro has 108 acres for sale though it'll need rezoning for commercial. Might be the most realistic parcel.
  7. Abstract economic theory and philosophy are fine, but at the end of the day, America's working and middle class have been decimated for 50 years in parallel to India and China counterparts' rises. Walmart replacing GM, both literal and metaphor, has been a disaster on every level here. And yes, I care about the US more than other countries in as much as they care about themselves more than us. Community tribalism has been a reality and necessity since we left the sea; otherwise, we'd all be dead or speaking German today.
  8. A lack of protectionist interventions is among the main reasons why the US working class collapsed from deindustrialization and today's white collar jobs are getting hammered by offshoring. Politics can change alliances overnight, the need for steel does not. It needs to remain a US company.
  9. Agree to disagree. If you look at historic rowhouses all over the country in which greystones, brick facades, or different color wood/fabric exteriors lined up streets, this s**t just looks like a half-ass $325,000 Temu home.
  10. To be fair, they are ugly as s**t. Philly and Baltimore rowhouses these are not.
  11. That's actually a good price for new construction in Glenville these days. Look on redfin - something up.
  12. OOH, DEVEREAUUUX sorry, wrong city. Already lit for Texans Rodgers. Um, yeah, Berea, Richfield, Cleveland Crunch. Good memories.
  13. Do we even need one? Full WFH for employees, remote court proceedings, and ankle bracelets/house arrest for criminals could be an option. Expand the Juvenile Justice Center or have a separate, smaller facility for high risk offenders.
  14. Agreed. Look at the promises made before and during the Gateway project, and thirty years later, that area never spawned off cohesive development. And that area is a hell of a lot more successful than what the Browns contributed to the city. E9/Lakeside has had a stadium for 95 years, yet virtually nothing else that urbanites, aka subsidizers, can enjoy or utilize. What the f have we been paying for then. Perhaps it depends on the region, but sports are such an overrated economic engine. They're money pits in which cities, without any equity or profit sharing, dump 8-10 figures over time. $40 million more for the Q? Sure, let's just shake the money tree more. No other business gets those kinds of freebies and justifications, despite sports not generating positive ROI. We've got to stop repeating past mistakes with these fictions.
  15. Nope. Outside-the-box thinking semi-grounded in reality.
  16. Lots of ideas. DeWine should campaign a constitutional amendment so Ohio can mirror Florida's Homestead law. Then get the Saudis and Chinese to dump billions of protected funds into the area. Seize and metropark the land. Start planning for a Woodstock type event among other outdoor concerts from Spring through Fall. Gift parcels of the land to developers in exchange for commercial and residential guarantees. Create a semi-autonomous international city or a global city for LGBTQ exclusively. Midwest porn studios epicenter. World's biggest waterpark. Slides and bungees to Lake Erie. All ideas, including legislations and financing, start with leadership.
  17. Other billionaires may be interested in the team, but there's no reason to believe they'll have some kind of pro-Cleveland mentality beyond lip service. The issues with the stadium, location and financing wouldn't disappear. The region needs to move past this topic at some point. If Burke or the current Browns stadium can be re-developed, then Bibb, Royanne, governor MAGA, and city/business leaders need to take the lead. A last minute "look what we tried" crappy render or vague legal action are just ass-covering steps in the wrong direction.
  18. https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/suspect-arrested-in-orange-vandalism-case/article_6d5baa24-956e-11ef-9c40-3f896c5a2733.html Suspect arrested in Orange vandalism case He should be out in time for the 2028 RNC. Looks like a charming fella too.
  19. Maybe the stadium could be repurposed into housing i.e. a dramatically scaled up version of Indiana's Scaled Lofts. That, or it will be an eyesore for many years to come since the money tree is exhausted. $20 or $30 million in demolition costs can go a long way elsewhere. Frankly, all this Burke distraction, though fun discourse, is totally irrelevant. A Gemini prompt could produce comparable images, maybe even better quality. I don't get why everyone is so impressed by that low quality s**t. Needlessly replacing an active airport for a billionaire's playground at the cost of 9 or 10 subsidized figures just wasn't happening in our lifetimes. it just reminds me of Jackson's futile proposal to gift Burke for Amazon's second headquarters sweepstakes. Only serious, grounded-in-reality offers need apply.
  20. From Jimmy's perspective, why would he? The team is worth almost six times the 2012 purchase price. I don't see him getting a similar return in any other industry, and that amount will explode as more streaming services pick up games along with European interest. The theoretical parking revenue and properties in Jimmyland are peanuts in comparison. Unless he needs billions of dollars in cash ASAP, Jimmy isn't going anywhere.

    Oh no, not Jim Donovan:(
  22. I think they mispelled "gaslight Cleveland" with "move".
  23. A lawsuit is a bad idea. A bad lawsuit is a terrible idea. I don't see Haslam making any concessions but rather double downing on a relocation when the law ends up in his favor. Why would he decide to stay voluntarily now? This costs Cleveland time, money, negative attention, and perhaps business leader backlash. Who wants to operate or expand in a city that will sue you for dubious reasons. It isn't worth it.
  24. Do I think residents in Ohio City or Central care that much about the Browns moving to Brookpark? No, I think they have far more concerns with schools, safety, city investments, roads, etc. This isn't 1995. It's a very different city, region, and Browns frankly. Bibb's focus needs to be on the West Parks and Glenvilles, especially when he has such a losing argument.
  25. Of course we can. That happens all the time. Otherwise, court dockets would be filled for decades.
